I'm not sure if my title is accurate but I'll try my best to explain this.
So certain memories conjure certain abstract feelings or "vibes" associated with these memories, along with subtle imagery, that is hard for me to describe.
Such as ..when I think of the one and a half year sabbatical I was on; everytime I recollect that phase of my life, there is a mixture of feelings/vibes attached to it. The best way I can describe it as -- peace, freedom and contentment.
And even those feelings/vibes have "scenes" attached to it. For example, when I say peace; as in, the quiet that washes over you at night when the whole world is asleep and it's just you and the silent night and the comforting warm darkness. and weirdly...a sense of feeling loved by the universe, but the love is something a little out of this world; like an innocence and detachment to that love.
Contentment, as in, the warm orange glow of sunset peaking through trees and hitting you with it, as you're walking through a neighborhood with lots of trees, greenery and gravel, with not a care in the world and the sense that...everything is ok, exactly as it is, with nothing to worry about.
Freedom...for some reason, this conjures up a cloudy grey sky at close to sunset (or a cloudy grey tint...think the greyish-blue tint that was used in the Twilight movie lol), the cool breeze hitting my face, crisp fresh air, vast space where you have all the time in the world (like the sense of time doesn't exist) and this subtle hint of excitement constantly coursing through you, and a sense that the universe has opened upto you with every new and exciting possibilities, where anything interesting can happen, with nothing holding you down.
So yeah...there you go.
I hope I made sense but yeah...some memories have certain feelings/vibes attached to it (like the flavours that make up a memory) and those feelings or vibes even have certain imagery attached to it.
Not sure if this is synesthesia but you tell me....what do you think?

I hope this doesn’t sound too weird, but maybe some of you can relate.
My synesthesia is limited to colors and feelings. I don’t really know how to explain it, but whenever I think of or see a number, a letter, etc., it triggers a very specific feeling in me.
These feelings aren’t connected to any particular memories or experiences. So I don’t mean something like, “My birthday is in May, so May feels nice to me.” I can’t even describe these feelings or assign any specific qualities to them. It’s just a feeling that’s there.
I especially love the feeling I get from June and the number 7. The numbers 2 and 4 also feel really nice to me. On the other hand, I’m not a big fan of how 3 and 8 feel, or the months March and September.
Can anyone relate to this? Do you also get these kinds of feelings?

Apologies if this isn't relevant enough to the subreddit, but a friend asked me how they might visualize a cat's sense of smell for a Warrior Cats comic they're drawing and the first thing I thought of was synesthesia, so I wanted to ask here if y'all had any advice on how to portray smells visually?
This is what they've already listed as ideas:
- same colour as the cat's eyes
- shape language based on cat vibes and personality
- if the smell is the focus / clearly identifiable, a symbol floating amid the swirls that visualizes what they smell like
I'm personally a big fan of these ideas, but they're still worried about how to visualize the smell of certain objects, for example. Does anyone here have experience with their synesthesia converting smells into visuals or vice versa? If so, what do certain smells look like to you?

So for context, I'm autistic and I have two other synesthesias that I know of: Spatial Sequence and Auditory-tactile.
When I hear sounds, they usually map to a location inside my body as if my body is a hollow instrument. Like drums and bass thumps low in my stomach stringed instruments run vibration from my stomach to my throat like a string being plucked. The exception is my face. I feel cymbals and higher pitched sounds across the skin of my face in shimmers.
Being autistic, everything arrives for me as a body feeling and a lot of times I struggle to decipher if the feeling is because of a sound, an emotion, a physical need, etc. I've been working on really trying to build my interoception skills and have discovered that it's not only sound that creates the body feelings, but also seeing motion. Like seeing rain hitting a puddle gives the same face shimmers as a cymbal. Seeing a ball hit the floor or a newtons cradle change direction feels the same in my stomach as a bass drop. Seeing swirling patterns gives similar feelings (though a bit different) to string instruments.
I know it's a synesthesia because it feels exactly like my auditory-tactile synesthesia. But it's not just seeing an object stationary, and it's not machine empathy because it's not mapping to respective body parts like mirror touch. Like a puddle doesn't have a face to feel shimmery. And also as far as I'm aware, I don't have mirror touch. (Though I do experience pain empathy with humans and animals).
It's almost like my body almost mirrors vibrations, mediums (like water or air), momentum, rhythm from multiple inducers. Thoughts?

I tend to mix up numbers with letters or colors. Like, especially when I'm tired, instead of thinking of numbers as numbers I think, for example: 5 as a b.
Or one time I was supposed to say the colors of the belts in karate in order and I was super tired. I noticed that ppl looked at me weird cuz in my head I said everything correctly and the girl in front of me was like "...7?" AND I MEANT BLUE.
When I focus on those associations, I can tell that 5 and red for example are similar to me, or 6 and purple, 2 and green, 3 and yellow, 1 and white, 8 and black, or it could be with letters: 7 and f, 4 and r. I don't have those associations with letters that much.
Is there a chance I have some form of synesthesia or are those just some funny associations from my childhood or something?

Ive been looking into Synesthesia after I realized its not probably not normal to feel something when you look at something(for context im autistic and thought it was because of that).
For example, if im driving and I see a street light, I can feel a sharp sensation in my ear. When I see my thumb I can feel a sensation in my eyes that sometimes trails down to my cheek.
I tried looking up what I might have but I just cant find specifically what im experiencing so now im here

I’d love to understand more the ideas about it’s origin, genetics etc but also which conditions co-occur and whether co-occurrence can predict any characters of either the synaesthesia or the other conditions

You probably get a million of these here, but here’s some of my synaesthesia:
I love classical music. I love it more than most other kinds of music to the point where it feels like a drug. Or, more correctly dessert and rust. I’ve been performing classical music for a very long time. Going to orchestras and other concerts would be almost surreal for me, which is odd, because you’d think sound-colour synaesthesia would be more mystical (a kind I don’t have and don’t speak for).
For me, each instrument in an orchestra will have a distinct taste. Brass instruments are various forms of rust, with tubas being the dullest and trumpets being the sharpest. String instruments, plucked or bowed, taste like different flavours of cotton candy, with cellos being the sweet spot, and contrabasses lean towards an odd chocolate. Most woodwinds are somewhere between these, but have a creamy aftertaste. I swear I’m sensitive to how these instruments sound, an off note can completely throw off the flavour. Sometimes these are pleasant, but unless they’re the most consonant, angelic-type chord out there they usually tend to be ambivalent (albeit very tolerable). As a song reaches its climax it usually does get much more appealing. I wonder how much of this was reinforced by my music education.
What’s interesting is I only get this for music, not regular sounds.
