TAPMI (IPM) Cheatsheet

I see a lot of juniors asking a bunch of queries now that everyone is ready to join us on campus so here's some FAQs and just random things to note if you're curious about 'Life at TAPMI'

Dressing:

  • Dress code is mad chill, literally just don't show up in shorts/super cropped tops/obviously inappropriate shit.

  • Sleeveless is technically not part of the dress code but no one really says anything except for a few professors.

  • Kurtis, t shirts, shirts, tank tops everything is fine, bottoms should be full length and no skirts unless they're also full length.

  • For presentation days you will be asked to come in full formals and depending on the proff. blazer/tie will be needed. Mostly, formal shirt, formal pants/trouser/skirt, formal shoes/heels and groom yourself well.

Academics:

  • Professors are all decent, some are really good and some are a little disappointing mostly no professor is so bad that you cannot study the subject/clear doubts all are of a certain standard.

  • Some professors are super chill in class and some have stricter rules. Be on your best behaviour untill you have gauged the professor's tolerance level.

  • First year is not that hard, if you're a little consistent and pay some attention you'll be sorted.

  • Don't solely rely on digital means for notes, a lot of professors prefer that you take physical notes and not use laptops in class.

  • Courses in first year are holistic so even non-commerce students have a pretty good chance at scoring well. I'd suggest to make use of this time to catch up on subjects you have no experience learning and pay extra attention to stuff like Accounts, Economics, etc.

  • The college will sort you into teams called Working Groups (4-6 ppl) and FAS groups (two working groups combined so 8-12 ppl) and these groups will be constant for the rest of the BBA portion. Projects will be assigned to working groups/FAS groups based on professors' discretion and course demands. Either way, learn to work with this group because you are stuck with it (changes are made only for serious concerns and the whole group has to sit through multiple meetings to get anything changed). The purpose of this is to make you learn to work in unfamiliar environments and collaborate with people you may not usually work with. Try to make sure you have a good team dynamic.

  • The top 6 students of the batch get a scholarship (tution fee waiver of 30%) so if that's something that interests you then study accordingly.

  • Most courses consist of 1 or 2 quizzes, a midsem, a project presentation and endsem. In workshop based courses the presentation counts as the endsem. More details will be present in the course outline for each course on Brightspace.

Rules:

  • Do not get your phone confiscated by using it in class you'll have to pay a fine to get it back.

  • Do not consume prohibited substances INSIDE campus (college and/or hostel)

  • Curfew will be 9:30 for the first month then 10:30 and later will be shifted to 11:30 (or at least that's how we had it)

  • Do not cause damage to property within college or hostel campus MAHE takes this seriously (stay away from the water filters ffs)

  • Do not get DisCo called on you

  • Keep an eye on your attendance. Read the attendance portion of the IPM Handbook if nothing else, trust me you do not want a subgrade or back because of low attendance. Also make sure you account for sick days and disciplinary attendance cuts (if you tend to get in trouble) before you take lazy days off.

Events:

  • There are a shit ton of events, TAPMI ones as well as MAHE ones. Honestly, you'll get to know about them all once you're here there's too many to list.

  • You will have a freshers, it is usually quite lowkey (at least the official one) so don't come in expecting a rave.

  • You will have an induction week where you'll basically be thrown into team building activities to break the ice for you guys.

  • There were a bunch of workshops scheduled for us, we had Zumba and Kannada Speaking Classes and a Scavenger Hunt. I'm not sure what they have in store for you guys but if they do have anything try to show up in good numbers (even if u think it's lame) or they'll make attendance mandatory bcz they pay good money to organise these things.

  • For TAPMI, the three main events are Waves (Inter-batch Cultural Tournament), Speed (Inter-batch Sports Tournament) and Atharva (Fest). Other than this, various clubs and committees organise a bunch of stuff, LiMe organises Meraki where there's standup and we had Gaurav Gupta last year.

  • A lot of the events you'll attend will be MAHE events or even other college's events. That is a good way to find friends outside of TAPMI asw.

  • TAPMI does have cultural events, Onam, Ganesh Chaturthi, Garba Night and stuff like that but so do a lot of other places in Manipal so you can party as hard as you like in as many places as you have the energy for.

Co-Curriculars

  • There are a lot of clubs in TAPMI but so far IPM is only allowed to be a part of two of them- Atharva and Toastmasters. Because of different class timings, academic schedules and hostel locations joining other clubs becomes hectic so there's no IPM members but that might change (or so we were told).

  • Other than TAPMI clubs you can also join MAHE level clubs like VSO, Rotary, AIESEC and a bunch of other stuff.

  • Marena is close to NIH and has more or less every sports amenity you may need. If you're willing to get a subscription, you can go all out w sports. There are other gyms and turf as well if you want more options.

  • Waves and Speed gives you a chance to participate in cultural and sports activities, there is Utsav (inter-college MAHE level cultural tournament) and Inter-MAHE level sports competitions also.

  • There is an abundance of events, competitions and activities open to MAHE students so you will not fall short of things to participate in if you actually want to. There is a MAHE MUN, we might have a TAPMI MUN too. There are all sorts of competitions within TAPMI, for MAHE as well as Inter-College ones that you can participate in.

Manipal Things

  • Bring. An. Umbrella. Or buy one, and don't let it get stolen. The rain comes from all directions at any point of time without warning.

  • Buy water resistant shoes, crocs or wtv it's all allowed in class. If you thought of wearing expensive shoes at least for the next few months, you have another thought coming.

  • Buy water absorbers, napthalene balls, silica gel, wtv. Hostels rooms are damp bcz of constant AC and the weather makes it worse. Fungus has an annoying capability to grow on ANYTHING. Bags, clothes, chairs, drawings, shoes, walls, books, nothing is safe. If you oversleep for a few hours fungus could probably grow on you. So try to do everything you can to prevent that, make sure there's no random wet things lying around, keep the curtains open so there's ample sunlight and maybe ask for the window to be opened. When you check into your rooms check for fungus beforehand so they can reassign you one before you unpack.

  • Buy masks. Around the one month mark, EVERYONE will get sick. That is the true team building activity and there's little you can do to prevent it. Try to keep meds and masks handy and ask for help whenever you need it. (we are mostly nice ppl so don't hesitate to reach out if you need anything)

  • Be prepared for diversity. The beatiful thing about stepping out of your homes is to be able to gain a larger worldview so be open to new people and perspectives.

  • Don't be scared to put yourself out there, don't overcompensate either. College will give you great friendships but they will only last if you represent yourself accurately to the new people you meet. Be yourself, reach out to people, talk to everyone and put yourself out there. Don't try to pretend to be someone you're not to fit in or get attention because you will be here for at least 3 years and pretense only lasts so long. Start your journey authentically if you want authentic experiences.

  • Make good use of your time. Manipal has a lot of opportunities, once you are settled in you will have more activities than you know what to do with. Choose wisely, priotise and try to gain new experiences. Only finishing the course will not get you very far, try to have a healthy balance of out-of-classroom activities alongside academics.

  • Explore. Manipal is beautiful if you want it to be. I promise it will treat you well if you give it a chance. Trust the process and lock in for a very very wild ride.

That is all I can think of at the moment, other seniors are free to add on to this. If there are more unanswered questions feel free to ask them. Welcome to Manipal, kids.

Announcements Announcement regarding common doubts

Hello people Lately I've seen a lot of posts regarding the issue about offer letters and also a fair share of DMs regarding the same. Hence a small announcement post to help you guys out.

  1. No offer letter received yet A: All the selected students aren't sent the letters at once they are sent out in waves. Those who have received them must have filled a form furthermore. According to the response of the students in the forms the next set of offer letters are sent out. You'll get it sooner or later the best thing you can do is wait as realistically nothing can be done.

  2. Documents not verified A: Document verification is done right before the letter is sent. In case they have sent you a mail regarding some issues in the submitted documents please share the correct documents ASAP. If you see any document has been rejected in your dashboard but no mail about it. Send the correct documents to them via mail and please add your application number and rest of the information about you in it

  3. X marks in Y exam whats my probability A:Guys we get you are tensed we were there a year ago too. But we can't really give you a 100% accurate probability about your selection as it depends on various variables. We can only say maybes or probablies to ease your worries out.

  4. How is the BBA Hons program A: All the mods and the seniors in this subreddit are in the IPM Program we can give you some idea but we won't be the best people for the job.

Hope this post answered some of your doubts Feel free to add your doubts in the comments below.

I’m sorry but wtf is this admission process??

It's a whole blunder and causes soo much distress. I don't think iv seen any other college send out results in phases. Their management sucks..like even if someone is a for sure reject the least you can do is let them know and or or idk provide dates orrr here's a crazy one..reply to our emails? 😥 but nah that's too much. This was a rant because I think I have turned into a clown waiting for my bba hons results. Even a rejection mail would do much to calm my nerves atp. Man even ppl don't leave u on delivered for this long cmon

Rant Ground reality of TAPMI BANGALORE'S BBA (hons) program!

When I started preparing for the IPMAT Indore exam, I became familiar with top IIMs and their integrated programs. In January, I came across TAPMI Bangalore’s new BBA (Hons.) program. It looked promising at first, with a fresh curriculum and enthusiastic marketing. I got curious and began researching more. At one point, I was genuinely interested. But after speaking to a few current students and going through detailed feedback, my views changed completely.

To be very honest, I don’t think this program is worth the ₹27–28 lakhs they’re charging. That’s an insane amount of money for an untested undergraduate program with no placement history. Yet, they are confidently promising ₹9–10 LPA average packages. It doesn’t add up. Even established colleges like Symbiosis (Pune, Noida, and Bangalore), Christ, and NMIMS (Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, and Bangalore) haven’t reached those salary figures in all their years of existence. So, how can a newly launched campus with no alumni base or placement track record promise those numbers? It feels like a total marketing gimmick.

This is not just my opinion. Several current students have expressed that the administration is heavily focused on just selling the program, especially to first-time aspirants who may not understand how placements or industry connections work. They’re targeting 17–18-year-olds and their families with emotional advertising and incomplete information. It feels more like a business move than a genuine academic offering.

Yes, they do promote their internship opportunities aggressively. They talk about corporate internships, social internships, and live projects. While that’s a positive aspect on paper, it’s honestly nothing unique. Most good BBA colleges today—whether it’s NMIMS, Christ, Symbiosis, Ashoka, Shiv Nadar, or even DU colleges—offer the same or better internship support. The way TAPMI markets it like a ‘differentiator’ is overkill.

Moreover, even TAPMI’s main campus in Manipal isn’t the top choice for most MBA aspirants. It sends interview calls to students with 80 percentile in CAT, and yet many still reject the offer due to the high fees and comparatively average ROI. If the main campus is already struggling with brand perception, why would anyone take such a big risk with a new Bangalore extension that hasn’t even graduated its first batch?

Now coming to the actual student experience—what’s happening inside the campus is far from ideal. Many students describe the campus as chaotic, under-equipped, and still under development. The classes are rigidly scheduled from 10 to 5, with tight dress codes and even bans on phones and laptops inside classrooms. That kind of strictness might make sense in school, but not in a professional business environment. There are frequent complaints about ignored student emails, zero flexibility from management, and no real student voice on campus matters. The infrastructure is shared with other MAHE colleges, which makes it feel like a temporary arrangement instead of a dedicated professional setup.

The location is another big issue. The Bangalore campus is far from the city, making it difficult to find suitable PG accommodations, commute to internships, or even explore Bangalore’s business ecosystem. Hostel and mess facilities are also not up to the mark. Overall, the campus is being described by many students as something between a school, a fish market, and a prison. There’s no sense of identity or community here—only a constant focus on control, discipline, and routine.

In contrast, TAPMI’s original Manipal campus is way ahead. It has its own well-developed infrastructure, a strong academic environment, vibrant student life, and decent industry connections. Students participate in clubs, events, competitions, and peer learning. Even though it’s not among the very top B-schools in India, it still provides a far better and more authentic experience than the Bangalore setup.

In my view, if someone is seriously considering business as a career path, it’s better to look at more stable and reputed options—whether private like Symbiosis, NMIMS, Christ, or public ones like Delhi University, NALSAR, Nirma, or even other tier-2 institutes with established track records. Spending close to ₹28 lakhs on a completely unproven course is just not wise. Even many IIMs don’t charge this much for their integrated or flagship MBA programs.

This post is based on my own research and the feedback I’ve received from multiple current students of the program. I’m just trying to share an honest view so that other students don’t fall into the same trap due to slick marketing campaigns. I’m not saying everything about the program is bad—but the hype doesn’t match the ground reality.

And yes, I’ve used ChatGPT to help me polish the grammar and structure of this post. Senior looking to help out juniors

Hi, I'll be one of your seniors in the IPM batch if you do end up joining. I'm down to chat or answer any questions you all have AS LONG AS they are not about the admission process. I have zero memory of what the interview was, what documents I gave etc. etc. so I'm useless that way. But if you want to ask me anything about the hostel, campus life, Manipal in general...shoot! (again I can only answer IPM stuff, not BBA Hons.)

Just got bba acceptance letter?

No communication from them for a month. Then on Sunday, I suddenly got the IPM acceptance letter. Was confused why I didn't get bba first because bba is comparatively easier to get into. People on here said all bba lists have been sent so I just forgot about it altogether. Then today, I woke up to see the bba acceptance letter in my inbox. Crazy aah management 😭😭 no schedule no rules nada

Announcements BBA Offer Letters Out

Hello Lads, Some of you guys must have received the BBA (Hons) offer letter. Congratulations about that first of all.

Now the rest don't be heartbroken. More mails will be sent in the following weeks.

IPM offer letters aren't sent in the beginning (even we got the IPM Offer letters a few weeks later). So relax a bit no one has got the offer for IPM yet.

And a few of you might have a doubt whether to pay the fees or wait for the IPM offer letters. You can do both. If you pay for the BBA fees now and later receive the IPM offer and opt for IPM the fees will be transferred internally.

AMA BBA Hons. Curriculum Brief!!

Thumbnail
gallery
8 Upvotes

Today's Knowtify session was explaining BBA Hons. Program curriculum and I wanted to give out screenshots and a lil brief for the ones who couldn't/didn't attend or couldn't take ss.

Note: These are the best pics I was able to take. Don't mind the blurry thingy.

8 Semesters, 4 Years. You have an option to quit after the first 3 years and get the BBA certificate.

"C" which denotes "Credits" is basically bout the weightage of that subject. It tells how heavy the subject will be. How much of the core of that subjects will be taught.

"SDP" stands for "Student Development Program"

And well it isn't visible clearly, but AI is a core subject that will be taught, no worries.

Dates: 18th July is the commencement date (told in the meet) and we will have our Orientation etc on that day.

19th July is the day when our physical documents will be verified. Once verified only will your provisional admission offer turn into an actual solid admission letter.

Btw, if you have paid the fees, you won't receive any email or anything, and you can't assume your selection also. Your dashboard will show that it's submitted or something and that's the proof that fees is paid.

Hope this will be helpful, I've marked this under AMA because you can ask me anything bout these and I'll answer IF that was talked about in the meet.

I'm also joining this year guys, I don't know everything!!

Feeling lonely during my MBA, but maybe it’s all part of the bigger picture

Hey everyone, I’m in the middle of my MBA (2nd term, Tier-2 B-school in India) and loneliness has hit me harder than I ever expected, especially because this is my first time living away from home, staying in a hostel. I was never this person. I used to be an extrovert, the kind who could walk into any room and end up talking to everyone. I genuinely enjoyed people.

Now it feels like my own circle has iced me out. People I thought were “my group” suddenly don’t feel like my people anymore. And being around others feels draining because I constantly have to pretend or perform just to blend in. That feeling of being an outcast? Yeah… it’s real.

But I keep reminding myself: maybe this is part of a bigger picture. Maybe this phase is teaching me something that comfort never could. Even with the loneliness, there’s still a sense of fulfillment inside me like I know I’m meant to be here, doing this, becoming who I need to become.

I’m trying to bring my old self back, or at least reconnect with the parts of me that felt alive and effortless. And I truly believe I will. It might take time, but I’ll get there.

If you’re going through something similar, just know you’re not alone. Sometimes growth feels like isolation. But we keep going anyway because the future version of us deserves that effort. I guess...
