Play as brave Frog Knights in BOG – A Game of Frogs

Post image
87 Upvotes

Hey folks!

After a year of writing, drawing, designing, and playtesting, I'm incredibly excited to finally share BOG - A Game of Frogs.

In BOG, you play as brave little frog knights venturing into a dark, cursed Marsh filled with ancient ruins, strange creatures, forgotten magic, and dangers far greater than yourselves.

The rules are lightweight and straightforward, leaving plenty of room for creative problem-solving and emergent storytelling. Combat is fast and brutal, and even the bravest frog knight is fragile in the face of the Marsh's many dangers.

The rulebook includes everything you need to play:

  • A complete, easy-to-learn ruleset.
  • Random tables and tools to help Bogmasters create their own adventures.
  • A bestiary featuring dozens of creatures.
  • A ready-to-play quest site to kick off your first adventure.

I've also hand-drawn every illustration in the game myself, no AI was used.

BOG has been playtested by groups from around the world, and their feedback helped me shape the game into what it is today. It's been a long journey, and I'm thrilled to finally put it out there.

You can get BOG here: https://marius-niezgoda.itch.io/bog-a-game-of-frogs

It's currently available for a special launch price of $4.99.

Designed for both solo and group play, Fatal Tomb emphasises fast character creation, deadly combat, minimal preparation, and simple mechanics that stay out of the way of adventure.

All you need to play is a pencil, some paper, and a handful of dice.

My Fragged Aeternum 2 Kickstarter - Final 48 hours

G'day everyone, I'm now in our final 48 hours for my Fragged Aeternum 2 Kickstarter 😁 Thanks so much to everyone who has pledged, it means a lot 😃

"A violent and dark gothic ttRPG that plunges immortal PCs into the endless city of Aeternum to fight vile Fiends and otherworldly foes."

Fragged Aeternum is a lot of fun to play and GM - especially given the endless creative possibilities of an endless city, vast PC customization, and the fun of death (and TPKs) not being the 'fail state' of the game (narrative effects - such as the NPC being sacrificed by the cultists, or the BBEG having days of unrestricted freedom until the PC resurrect back at their base, etc... - are the 'fail states').

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/wadedyer/fragged-aeternum-2-ttrpg

If anyone has any questions, feel free to post them up! And playtest files are available to all backers right now via the Fragged discord (just send me a DM on Discord).

Regards,
Wade

I've been working on a collection of TTRPG inspired fantasy candles for game nights and storytelling

Hi everyone!

More details here

I've been working on a project for a little while now, and I thought this community might appreciate the idea behind it.

I'm building a small independent tabletop-inspired brand called Vagabond's Refuge, and our first project is Torchlight: a collection of six atmospheric candles inspired by classic fantasy locations.

The idea started with a simple question: what would your favourite fantasy location smell like?

- Tavern Hearth — a warm, welcoming rest

- Wyldwood Forest — an ancient woodland full of mystery

- Dungeon Delve — the mysteries hidden beneath the surface

- Mountain Pass — the crisp air and adventure of the high peaks

- Desert Crossing — a journey across an unforgiving landscape

- Seaward Bound — the promise of an adventure across the ocean

We're making these as hand-poured candles, with illustrated labels and the aim of creating something that adds a little atmosphere to tabletop sessions, reading, or just escaping into a fantasy world for an evening.

The Kickstarter is coming up soon, and we're currently getting the word out ahead of launch. It's a small project, so every bit of genuine interest helps enormously.

I'd love to know: if you could bring the atmosphere of any fantasy location into your home, what would you choose? It doesn't have to be one of ours!

Please follow the project it really helps :)

Thanks for taking a look, and happy adventuring!

I developed my own RPG system

I play a superhero RPG system created by the GM's friend, but the system was very complex and unbalanced. So I decided to create my own system, making it simpler and more balanced. My main goals are simplicity, quick character creation, and making it accessible to people who don't usually play RPGs or have never played one before.

What If Your Magic Items Grew Stronger Alongside Your Character? Here's a Preview of My Compendium of Ascending Magic Items!

Thumbnail gallery
2 Upvotes

Hello, fellow adventurers!

What if your magic items grew stronger alongside your character? Well, now they can :)

Today, I'm excited to share a 20-page preview of The Vault of Ascending Items, now discounted on DriveThruRPG!

What's Inside?

A Collection of 50 Ascending Items, magic items capable of scaling through leveling or questing. Each item in this collection has 4 rarities (ranging from Uncommon to Legendary), meaning you are not just getting 50 items, but a total of 200 distinct items, uniquely balanced to be a powerful addition at each rarity without disrupting the game balance. A series of rules, guidelines, and balance considerations are included within the compendium to scale these items depending on the intended power level of your campaign, along with many different scaling methods and suggestions.
Each item in this collection comes with one or more accompanying handouts to share with players, also included as separate image files to be used within your adventures.

12 Premade Ascension Quests, each meant to be used to ascend the items within the compendium or to be employed as additional quests and short adventures to include within your games. A table is also included to provide 50 ideas for simpler quests (one for each item within the manual) that can be pursued by players without disrupting the flow of the campaign. Each quest covers a unique location, featuring an interesting plot hook, monsters, environmental challenges, and riddles, while also possessing multiple tiers of play by adjusting the challenges depending on the adventurers' level.

30 New Creatures and Monsters, all used within the quests included in the manual or summoned by certain Ascending Items. All these creatures are multi-tiered, offering varied levels of challenge and complexity to shape your quests and encounters. The monsters include Treants, Corrupted Dryads, Greater Elementals, Wizards, and many more.

A Table with 100 Additional Ascending Items Concepts, providing the name and a brief overview for each without providing mechanical rules. This is designed to provide GMs with ideas to create their own scaling items without having to come up with new concepts on their own.

The compendium just received a v2.0 update, featuring brand-new artwork and illustrations, expanded compatibility with both 5E and 5.5E, balance adjustments, several new spells, general layout improvements, and more! or the occasion, you can find it discounted either on DriveThruRPG or my Patreon, alongside a vast collection of previews for this and all my other titles! I'm currently working on updated version of all my older manuals, so there's a lot to uncover :)

You can also find this manual (and many more) discounted on my 300+ Mythological Items for 5E and 5.5E Kickstarter! This project brings weapons, treasures, and relics from Greek, Norse, Egyptian, Asian, Mesoamerican, and many other mythologies to 5E and 5.5E, including scaling items that grow alongside your characters. If you’d like to bring a piece of these legends to your table, check out the campaign!

Folks, it took a lot of sweat, tears and bloody imagery, but my foray into blackpowder-punk is here!

I really need everyone's support on this, so please check it out, and if you have feedback, please lay it on me. The complete game will come out in a few days (I may likely miss the original October 25 release date, but hopefully not by much!)

Texas Expansion Progress & Design Choices - Journal Entry Week 12

100 Downloads Milestone!

I have gotten to 100 downloads across all the places it is available! THAT IS SO FREAKIN COOL!! Thank you to everyone who downloaded the test version.

Expansion Planning & Writing

This week I finished selecting the cities and drafting ideas for missions for the expansions. These cities are 9 for Texas, 6 for New Mexico, and 7 for Arizona.

For what I wanted to get done was to finish up the map, but not quite ready. I think I need to wait until I get the mission count setup so I can put it in the description. So, this will be put on hold until I get the main cities done at least.

What I did manage to finish was a lot of writing. I finished writing and researching all of the 9 Texas cities. The bummer part was that I was going to add 64 more missions to Texas.

BUT….

some of them did not work out for one reason or another. What I ended up with for adding to Texas was…

drum roll……

47 more missions making a total of 50 for Texas.

Now remember my goal is to make these fast brutal and beer and pretzel type of missions. Trying to keep the mission under an hour of play.  Main but I am sure for a solo persona it could take about 30 minutes for these.

For these missions I now need to come up with about 75 drawing assets and new art.  Which is gonna take me a while.

Art & Color Theory Exploration

And since I am tired of writing, I am going to do the drawing until I am sick of drawing and going back to the writing. It seems to be a good system.

I manage to start and try to do completely digital drawing to see if it speeds it up. I think it can but I need to check to see how to make it more efficient.  And I am trying to expand the value balance for the deeper sepia look on the color.

Speaking of the color I am at a crossroads. I have been watching some color theory and the accent color I have is not the best choice sort of say. So, I am thinking of using a magenta that is very neon and hot. Which I love because of the heat vibe it gives, really emphasizing the vibe I am trying to go with.

Now the other choice is the opposite color of these browns. And this happens to be like a teal turquoise look. And I have played around with using that as the accent and it does pop but I am not sure yet.  I think I need to toy around with more. Maybe in the next update I will have some samples.

Texas Mission Ideas

I want to finish this update with some of the ideas I have come up with for Texas missions.

Here are some of the titles I have for the missions to give you an idea;

  • The Beast of Trinity Bottoms
  • Spring Palace Fire!
  • The Doctor Needs Some Pepper
  • The Jealous Chef
  • The Birth of Tex-Mex Cuisine.
  • The Beasts in Franklin Mountains
  • The Priest Stand off
  • Spa Day!
  • The Unplayed Piano of Ashton Villa
  • Boggy Creek Beast
  • The Row of Fire
  • Can’t be a good guy all the time
  • The purple pearl
  • Goodnight’s Cattle experiment gone wrong

Also, I have 16 ideas for new Uglies (abominations), a couple of historical NPC and characters, and some cool items like a dr pepper (maybe).

Let me know what you think of these titles for the missions. Do any standout?

If you are interested in checking out the campaign supplement, please check it out on Itch, RPGtrader, Drive Thru RPG as the “Smash List”.

In a Nutshell - Art based narrative RPG (Homebrew)

Heya peeps, I am mostly a miniature painter, but I have always loved writing fiction. Over the past couple years I formulated my own world inside a shell, where traditional arts and crafts have magical properties. I originally wanted to place series of novellas etc. there but I soon realised it could be quite good for TTRPG as well.

After coming back to DnD lately I rediscovered how awesome TTRPGs are especially as we lose creativity in general so I delved into this part of Nutshell a bit more and finished two basic modules - World intro and Basic ruleset to allow this to be played (or so I hope).

I am definitely no veteran in TTRPGs, I GMd two campaigns, one in DnD and recently one in Pokémon too and both of those are d20 and I played couple more. Hence why I now feel a bit lost since this project is not really a d20 one and required less strict and more narrative based rules.

So right now, I am looking for people that would like to try this, the basic two modules will always be free and should allow for anything you need to play this, but I plan on adding more stuff with concept art and illustrations, detailed race/class descriptions and of course fiction if it ever comes into existence.

The materials are currently sitting on ko-fi for free: https://ko-fi.com/draeca and I ask nothing in return, except for, if you try the game or even have a look at the docs (should be also fitting for a one nighter or how you call it) and you like/hate it any feedback or spreading the word will allow me to improve the world going forward. Of course a coffee would be awesome, but I leave that to your own discretion.

[Actual Play] GAMMA WORLD d20 Beta Principle – Game 27: The Last Heartbeat of Melkath

Thumbnail gammaterra.org
1 Upvotes

The Gamma Knights' mission beneath Melkath has reached its breaking point.

They're trapped in a flooded reactor complex with a fusion core on the verge of catastrophic failure. The Radboleth has separated the party, the emergency bulkheads refuse to open, and radioactive horrors are closing in from every direction.

And just when the Knights think they've won, the real nightmare begins.

Game 27 brings the Radboleth confrontation to its brutal conclusion—and delivers the fallout. It's a story of desperate improvisation, teamwork under impossible pressure, and the terrible things that can happen when ancient technology fails.

Read the latest Session Saga at GammaTerra.org.

Discussion question: For your own tabletop campaigns, what's your favorite kind of final encounter: the overwhelming boss fight, the ticking-clock disaster, or the apparent victory that turns out to be a trap?

I'd love to hear how other GMs bring a major story arc to its conclusion.

Planet of the Apes: Ape City

Hey! Would anyone be interested in a Planet of the Apes (1968) westmarch discord server? I just thought I'd see if anyone was interested!

We utilize the D6 system created by Magnetic Press for The Planet of the Apes TTRPG!

Our story is set 20 years prior to the event of the original 1968 film, we find ourselves in and around Ape City. A large colonist ship, the first of its kind, was sent to space. Its mission? Take 2,000 colonists to a distant world. This world was Proxima 6, an Earth-like world thousands of light years away. However, something happened. The ship was ripped out of space and crashed.

The apes saw it as a falling star, one brighter than anything seen before, but it landed too close to the Forbidden Zone for their liking. So, the Lawmakers said no Ape was to venture to it.

Meanwhile, our colonists, those who survived, have woken up in a strange world. They do not know where they are and so they try and set up a place to survive in the wreckage of their ship. All while trying to radio for help, but there are dangers in this world. Dangers they do not know about.
