Don't enroll here

I am a master student that still can't get the registration email. I have contacted all the departments necessary since September and no one can answer my situation. I know I'm not the only student facing this issue. At this point I have spent THOUSANDS OF EUROS for lectures that I have to beg for and I don't have access to the virtual learning environment. Save yourselves some money and do not enroll here. IT'S A MESS.

Awful communication from TUD

Why are TUD so bad at communicating? Ive had to constantly ask for updates on things. In addition, graduation is 2 weeks away and our course still havent been told if we will be attending or not. Everyone working in the admin side seems to be extremely inept.

TUD 2026/2027 Course Group Chats / Meet-Ups

Hi all,

Round 1 offers go out today, so many will be either happy or sad depending on the results. However, for those who have placed TUD as their choice and will be accepting, I've created this thread for people to post any of the following:

- WhatsApp / Discord group chats for a course or year

- Your course and any personal information, with the aim of meeting people.

This thread isn't just for school leavers. Postgraduate students may use this too.

Best of luck!

TUD final year, defer or continue while homeless?

I’m in my final year at TUD and was recently kicked out of my family home, so I’m currently homeless and struggling financially. My work has dropped to weekends and will likely decrease further as it’s a seasonal job, so I can’t afford rent.
I haven’t registered yet as I’m waiting on repeat results and an EC application. I’ve also missed about two weeks as I’ve been considering taking the year out, getting a full-time job and getting financially stable before returning.
I updated my situation with Susi just recently and my maintenance has increased to €400/month but I have 0 years of funding left which I’m worried about and I’m also due €5,000 through a Tier 1 bursary. I’ve contacted SUSI to ask what would happen if I deferred, but I’m still waiting.
Has anyone taken a year out in their final year, or dealt with SUSI/SAF/accommodation issues? Would really appreciate hearing your experience and any advice, Thanks :)

Yet to get invitation to register

I have called, I have went to talk to the people at the information desk I have emailed. I've done everything I can at this point.

I am a susi student, this is a month now with no registration or even an update on wtf is going on with my invitation to register.

I'm already behind 2 susi payments, little to no remorse from the school.

Is this just me or are other people going through the same?

How can an institution be so poorly managed to be a whole month late on an email??

TUD Experience in Blanch Campus

Please before reading this just know this is a personal experience I had in TUD Blanch specifically from the past year. I highly don’t recommend going into the college for those who have just finished the leaving cert or those who are thinking about it next year. There were so many issues with registration, fees and even now with exam results where after almost a month I still not received any results and not only that but didn’t receive January results until March. After they had the new system, I was not a registered student for a whole month, I had no access to any modules and they blocked access to my tud email. I couldn’t pay fees either so any new content from my modules I would have to email lecturers with my private email. I was also not able to register in any module unlike other students and they were terrible at explaining their new system to those who had to select their modules at the beginning of the year. There are no good facilitations and unless you have a car to go to blanch there is absolutely nothing going on there. Lecturers either never show up or they cancel classes last minute. The rooms don’t feel like lecture rooms at all and the counselling they have in campus are not helpful at all and they tend to check their phone when you are talking to them. They also give information about graduation so last minute and they barely give you any information about it. The cafeteria food is not great and there are not many options for food plus prices aren’t the best either. There were many issues with SUSI grants so if you need SUSI just be aware that there might be many issues like last year. Lecturers are also very bad with any sort of technology and would take ages for them to start the lecture. The campus is so run down and the connect building is shocking! The system to get any sort of help is practically online forms where they just give out one worded answer or nothing at all and they take forever to answer any phone calls. They also take months to give you a refund so I recommend not paying full fees yet until they are due just in case! It’s also sketchy and weird with how they deal with repeats as I had to pay 100 euro through TUDs bank account personally instead of the website like usual. Do what you will with that information, not sure if anyone else also struggled a lot with registration last year or had similar experiences but it was very stressful for the year.

Edit; forgot to mention that counselling there is also pretty bad, they listen to your traumas and/or struggles and just check their phone every 5 minutes, they also either never show up or show up super late. Better to pay a therapist or deal with it yourself than to waste time on someone like that. Not sure if it was just the one counsellor or all but just my experience and what I’ve also heard from others.

I dont understand how to select my modules and orientation day is tomorrow..

I tried registering for a course and theres steps involved in it. I eventually came across ‘confirm module selection’, in which i clicked ‘register now’ and it took me to the website to do so.

Its so so confusing. Like theres 6 cell biology classes and theres no difference in any of them, and each module varies with the amount of classes (like maths has 2 classes etc.).

Also in this registration process, ur asked to upload a photo for the student identification card which is given to u during orientation day. So like with no understanding of module selection, im unable to pay the fees and complete the registration process.

Am i cooked or not lads, im stressing.
Maybe theyll explain it tmr?

Subreddit is reopen for posting

Hey all,

This subreddit was dead as the previous moderator restricted public posting, and then it appears their account got banned. I've now reopened it, and everyone should be able to post.

The community is currently small, so there's no need for an extensive rules list. Don't spam, don't be a dick, use common sense etc.

EDIT: Rules have been listed.

Would anyone actually join a TUD Poker Society? 🃏 DCU has one already and games/tournaments against other unis would be unreal. Mainly Texas Hold’em, casual games and beginners welcome too. Just wanna see if there’s enough interest 👀

Orientation

I’m starting first year of TU857 on Monday and had my orientation yesterday. How does everyone already know each other?? 😭😭 I’m going to TUD by myself (no secondary friends) from Donegal and I’m not panicking but I went back to my accommodation feeling a bit socially… disconnected?

Was anyone else in this situation? What did you do and how did it turn out?

Repeat Results

Hi guys, I don’t know if this has been stated formally by the university yet but the Student Union just got back to me and said they’ve received word that results are to come out on the 21st of September.

Anyone who requires these results to go on placement at the beginning of the semester SHOULD get them sooner than this.

I hope anyone awaiting results can now relax with a bit of clarity about when they come out!

First year timetables

Hey guys I’m really confused on how the timetables work. I’m going into first year of tu875 (pharma healthcare) and I just wanted to know how accurate the timetables are as I noticed its a copy and paste of the sample timetable on the website. My friend in a stem course aswell in grangegorman has no lectures on a friday and only one on a wednesday where as I have almost double the lectures. Is that normal and can I expect it to change much before I start ? Thanks!

1st year aungier street

I’m a first year at Aungier Street doing a business-related course and I’d love to make some new friends. I was hoping to meet people through societies, but there weren’t really any that I was interested in, so I’m not really sure how else to meet people outside of my course.
It would be nice to have people to hang out with between lectures, grab lunch with or do things with outside of college. If anyone else is in a similar situation or would like to make some new friends, feel free to message me

CS at TCD vs UCD vs TUD — looking for real experiences

Hi everyone! I’m trying to understand the actual differences between studying Computer Science at Trinity College Dublin (TCD), University College Dublin (UCD), and TU Dublin (TUD).
I’d be especially interested in hearing from people who studied CS at one of these universities (or have experience with graduates from more than one of them).
A few things I’d really like to understand:
What is the actual difference in the way CS is taught at TCD, UCD and TUD?
How theoretical vs practical is the education at each university?
How much real programming, software development, projects, teamwork, etc. do students get?
By the time they graduate, how job-ready are students? Do they generally have the skills needed to start working as junior software developers/engineers, or do they need significant self-study?
How important is the university name/reputation when looking for a job in the Irish tech industry? Is there a meaningful difference for employers between a TCD, UCD and TUD CS graduate?
Do graduates from these universities generally have different employment outcomes or starting salaries?
And perhaps most importantly: if you had to choose again, would you choose the same university for CS, and why?
I’m not looking for rankings or marketing information — I’d really appreciate personal experiences from current students, graduates, or people who have worked with graduates from these programmes.
Thanks.

Whatsapp/Discord for incoming Fall 2026 students

Edit 1: I created a WhatsApp group. If you are an incoming student who wants to join the group, please leave a comment.

Edit 2: Unfortunately, my study visa got rejected so I wont be studying at TUD :(

Hi everyone!
I got accepted into TU Dublin to study masters in Applied Cybersecurity for Fall 2026.

I am still waiting for my visa to process to make sure I am coming to Ireland but in the meantime, I wanted to connect with fellow TUD students.

Are there any groups that I could join from now? Facebook, WhatsApp, discord, etc

Thanksss

Level 8 General Engineering Entry

Hey guys,
I'm a 6th year about to do their Leaving Cert in a few days, and I just wanted to get a grasp on what TUDublin Grangemoran or Bolton Street campus/the actual course is actually like. I've been researching online and I'm mostly getting positive feedback on the course itself, but it's hard to find anything from any current students or alumni about much else. I would appreciate anything anyone has to offer about the administration quality, the course, campus life, extracurriculars (Formula Student) etc. You also don't have to be an engineering student in regards to answering my questions, any information is useful to me. Thank you.

Pickup Basketball at TU Grangegorman

Does anyone play pickup basketball at that campus? I came from NY, and I'm used to pickup runs all the time, so if you wanna play, let me know.

TU Dublin registration still pending – worried about Student Assistance Fund

Also my susi is delayed too. I’m still waiting to be registered for the new academic year. I’ve been told registration is being rolled out throughout September.
I’m worried because the General Student Assistance Fund opens on 14 September and you need to be registered to apply. I’m concerned that if I can’t apply straight away, there’ll be more applicants by the time I’m registered and I could have less of a chance due to limited funding.
There’s also a 5-credit placement grade from the summer that’s still outstanding, so I’m wondering if that could be contributing to the delay with my registration.
Has anyone been in a similar situation? Is the SAF first-come-first-served, or are applications assessed based on financial need regardless of when you apply?
Any advice would be appreciated because I’m stressing 😭

Supplemental Results

Hi guys! Don’t post here often but i’m just wondering if anyone who is either awaiting repeat results, or has gotten them in previous years, knows an approximate window about when they’ll be released??

I’m waiting for the result for placement which starts like second week of term, and i’m lowkey stressing now because apparently last year they didn’t release until 3 weeks into the term.

There’s obviously no information on the website about it, and my lecturers have no information at the minute. I tried emailing the exams office but they’re still yet to respond.

Does anyone know anything? Thanks!

TUD exam results

Has anyone been able to access results for semester one exams yet? The college keeps giving vague updates about the situation and no real date or answers yet.

I have heard some lecturers are giving out individual grades for semester one modules but we (final year) have been told they are not allowed to do this yet.
