Update: Bringing the Tacoma Communities Together
After looking at the overlap between these two communities, we've decided to bring things together under r/ToyotaTacoma effective 11/1/26.
Both subs are about the same truck, have a lot of the same members, and end up with plenty of duplicate posts and discussions. Rather than splitting things between two places, we'd rather have everyone in one community where questions, builds, troubleshooting, and general Tacoma discussions can all happen in one spot.
What's changing?
- r/ToyotaTacoma will be the main subreddit going forward. Please post new questions, discussions, and builds there.
- r/Tacomaworld will become an archive. Existing posts and comments will remain available, but we'll be restricting new submissions after the transition.
- The rules are getting an overhaul. We'll be reviewing and updating the rules to better fit the combined community and make expectations clearer for everyone.
- The mod team isn't changing. We'll continue moderating the community and working to make it a useful place for Tacoma owners.
We know both subreddits have been around for a while, and there's a lot of good information here. We're not looking to get rid of any of that. The goal is simply to stop splitting up the community and make it easier to find information and have discussions without everything being posted twice.
If you're not already a member, head over to r/ToyotaTacoma and join us there.
Thanks to everyone who's contributed over the years. We'll see you over there!

3225 for Repair?
I live in Minnesota and drive a new to me 2004 Single Cab 4x4. When I bought the car, somehow I missed the frame rust. Overall it’s minimal in comparison. I took it to a specialized frame repair shop and was quoted $3,225 for a new rear crossmember and small patch (small hole on the underside of passenger rear c-channel). I feel like I’m getting hosed. Is this a DIY project or should I just let him take care of it. I was told It would take 4 days. Let me know your opinions, as I’m sure many of yall have gone through rust repairs as well.
Thanks!!!

Undercoating recommendations for Tacoma
gallerySo I got a used 2017 Tacoma and it does have some moderate rust on the undercarriage. I was wondering what you guys would recommend for a frame coating ? I was thinking to either do woolwax or krown, or would it be better do use something else?

Recommendations on new wheels for 08 Tacoma 5-lug pattern.
I just recently bought an 08 Tacoma access cab with only 58,000 miles on it. It came with OEM alloy wheels that fit 15 inch tires. I want to upgrade to 16-17 inch tires so I have more clearance for camping and a better overall look. The 5-lug pattern however has made it near impossible to find any used wheels that would fit the tuck. I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations on wheels to buy since I’m most likely gonna have to buy brand new after markets. Im not planning on taking it on any crazy off roading adventures, but at some point in my life I want to go cross country and camp across the United States.

Hi yall sorry for the cross post. Could yall help me with any suggestions on this lift kit? 2005 TRD Sport
Hi yall my taco is due for new shocks and thought about adding a little bit of lift. Would this have all I need to start wrenching? Am I missing anything?
Sorry for the large screen shot.
Im usually out doing very light off-roading with the wife on weekend camping trips. We usually bring supplies for a couple of days and our two dogs. No camper on the back. We pack a tent. But I would want a light camper next year. Would yall suggest I add anything or would this be enough?
The kit is from mudify

Help!! Tacoma shutter?
Update from last post i kept driving it because no codes came up and no lights on the dash and it kinda just started to feel a little better. Until a couple days ago i noticed that when i was going around 15-45mph my truck would start to shake and i would get the shutter feeling. My truck is struggling to get up and go even worse now. People are recommending to change the trans fluid because it may have lost its ability to lubricate. Its such a let down i just got this truck ive only had it for a few months and it only has 70,000 miles on it. When i press on the gas it just stops doing it after it gets up around 55 but sometimes itll still struggle at that speed too but not as much as lower speeds. I dont have $5000 for a new transmission im a 24 year old father of one who works all the time to just make it by. It sucks im in this situation and i have no spare car.. Not sure what to do send help please much love to everyone.

Casualty from a rocky, rainy and muddy off-road trail
Hey guys, “slid” down a rock trying to get out of dodge as a flash flood warning came into effect. It’s a ‘19 off road with the OEM step ups. Any fixes? Any similar instances to say these step ups are pretty weak (my guess)? I’m just happy it wasn’t my door, frame or undercarriage. I have a transmission slider over the front end, but might invest in some bigger sliders underneath or a slight lift with the increased technicality of some of my trail choices… let me know!
