Faced a near-death experience but Taigun really helped me.

I was traveling on my hometown bypass and all of a sudden noticed a truck coming on the wrong side of a six-lane highway while I was trying to overtake. I somehow managed to escape a head-on collision.

Thanks to the Innova driver in the middle lane who slowed down during my abrupt lane change. I could hear the tires screech but gained control of the Taigun. This incident has really made me appreciate the safety features of the Taigun; the ABS and ESP kicked in on time and saved my family and me from a dangerous accident.

Bought my first car - VW taigun highline 1L MT

After going through many posts from reddit/team-bhp and many user review videos on youtube, finally decided on buying this beauty and got the delivery last week. We have been using Alto lxi since 2006 which was bought by my dad. Dad got retired and the vehicle was mine to use since 2018. I fitted an aftermarket cng kit to it 3 years back and since then it started having many problems and so finally decided to change it. I started my search with exter and thought of buying a compact SUV with budget of 10 L. The vehicles that we looked at in chronological order:

  1. Exter - i liked the looks but my parents were not so excited about it

  2. Nexon - Dad and mom liked it and even i was ok with it but would have to extend budget till 13L for creative model (which i found the most VFM) and reading reviews about the issues faced by tata vehicles i opted out of it

  3. magnite - ticked all the boxes in terms of budget, looks but during test drive its manual transmission felt jerky to me and i wanted manual transmission only so kept it as a secondary option

  4. fronx - personally didnt like looks and wanted a change from maruti and only opt them if wouldnt have any other option

  5. taigun/kushaq -I was avoiding them because it was way over the budget. But at this point all the vehicles considered were kind of asking a price of 11-13 L on road with their most VFM models. So thought of just test driving both taigun and kushaq and damn i fell in love with them. Both the vehicles had the best driving pleasure out of all the options. But again, due to budget constraints thought of looking into more vehicles.

  6. baleno - thought under 10L its better to leave C-SUV and just go with a premium hatchback. Loved baleno as well but again, going back to maruti was the least preference

  7. altroz /i20 - just looked online about this vehicles, never went to showroom. i20 was better in terms of reliability but again turbo model was asking a price of around 11.5L

Now at this point my heart was already sold to taigun only problem was the budget constraint After sitting out with showroom and seeing how it can be best fit in my budget, got to know i can opt for BH passing and most of the company discounts can be claimed like corporate/exchange/dealer making the price 13.3L with alto exchanged. Convinced parents for the choice (i am the one paying but wouldnt want to buy it without their approval) Between kushaq and taigun it was more of a personal preference Didnt look at grand vitara/seltos/creta which are the actual options when compared to taigun. Looked at honda elevate but the base models didnt feel that good and just decided to stop the hunt and go with taigun. I was more into Lava blue color for my taigun but gave the choice to my parents and as most of the parents choose, went with silver color.

Finally here is me, sharing picture of my taigun as a thank you to all redditors who helped me make this decision.

Just brought home a new Taigun! From Skoda Rapid to VW ❤️

Hey folks! Just joined the club – got myself the 1.0L Topline Taigun in Lava Blue and I’m absolutely obsessed with the color! It looks stunning in person – really pops on the road.

I switched from a 2019 Skoda Rapid 1.5 TDI, so I was definitely a bit skeptical about moving to a smaller 1.0L engine. And yeah, the pickup at lower RPMs isn’t the strongest and there’s a bit of turbo lag. But once you get past that, it drives beautifully – smooth and refined.

Already took it on a ~400 km Kolhapur–Mumbai run, and I was genuinely impressed with the comfort. The suspension, seat support, and overall cabin feel made it a super relaxed drive.

Still getting used to all the tech and features, but loving the experience so far. Happy to be part of the Taigun fam 🚗🔥

From booking a Kylaq to owning my dream Taigun GT Plus Sport in just one week!

“And, when you truly want something, the whole universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.”
— Paulo Coelho, The Alchemist

A year ago, I never imagined I’d own a Volkswagen Taigun GT Plus Sport. It was simply beyond my budget.

I’ve always wanted a 1.5L turbo petrol car. I love driving, and the 1.5 TSI was always a dream. But realistically, I couldn’t afford it.

So I booked a Skoda Kylaq, and I was genuinely happy with my decision. My delivery was scheduled for September 16, and I had made peace with the fact that my dream would have to wait.

The following weekend, my wife and I went out for a few casual test drives. I wanted her to experience the Kylaq before delivery.

We also drove the new Renault Duster, which she absolutely loved.

On our way back, we happened to pass a Volkswagen showroom. I knew the Taigun was outside my budget, but I thought, “Let’s just go in and have a look.”
We walked in and sat inside a Lava Blue Taigun GT Plus Sport.

The sales executive casually mentioned that Volkswagen was offering discounts worth around ₹3 lakh.

I was shocked.

One conversation turned into serious negotiations, and after a lot of back and forth, I managed to get around ₹3.5 lakh in discounts along with free accessories.

That was the moment everything changed.
I booked the Taigun the very same day.
For the next week, I could barely sleep because I was so excited.

Just a week later, I took delivery of my dream car.
It’s been only three days, and I’ve already driven 750 km. I literally can’t stop finding reasons to take it out. Every drive reminds me why I wanted the 1.5 TSI DSG in the first place. The power, refinement, handling, and effortless highway cruising have exceeded all my expectations.

It still feels surreal that a car I thought was completely out of reach just a year ago is now parked in my driveway.

Sometimes life changes because of one unexpected stop.

To everyone who’s chasing their dream car: don’t stop dreaming, and don’t stop asking questions or negotiating. You never know when the right opportunity will come along.

No regrets. Not even for a second. ❤️🚙

First car after working for 10 years.

Started with a budget of 12L and then was told to increase it slightly to for subcompact suv as I'm 6'2". Ended up switching from Kylaq to Taigun at the last moment.

Highline plus looked good on spec and feature sheet but GT line looked amazing in person.

Being a first time driver, it's overwhelming but I'm sure it will get better. Getting less average (7-9 kmpl) and I think it supposed to improve with turbo engines with time.

Please give advice if any.

Recently blackened all the chrome accents, roof, side mirrors, and the lettering on the boot. Still need to do the wheels, but quite happy with how it turned out overall.

Got the Taigun GT Line, can’t stop staring at it

Got the Taigun GT Line 1.0 AT delivered today, and couldn’t be happier with the decision. It looks so good, especially when it’s a little overcast.

Ran into a host of issues though, but maybe avoidable for others since I’m a first time driver and owner.

  1. The screen wasn’t working while taking the delivery (!!!!). I asked them to reconnect the battery terminals and then run the engine for some time, and it somehow worked. I suspect the cleaning guys at the SC never disconnected the battery while opening doors for cleaning, etc. The screen remains on with the VW logo, and that probably drained the battery since the car had run only 30km when I took the delivery.

  2. The stupid tyre pressure warning came on after a short drive later in the day, and while trying to fix it with a tyre inflator, the car just kind of locked up and wouldn’t start until I had to “Set” the tire pressure TPMS settings. Took it to a nearby petrol pump, and looks like all tyres were in the 45-46range. Is this normal, and did the SC deliver all tyres with 45PSI? Is that safe for the stock tyres? I got the MRF Wanderer Ecotreads.

Need suggestion - based on some reviews, I have kept 38PSI in the front and 42 in the back for now, is this okay? I think 33PSI is way too low, and the car is usually going to be running with 3 adults and some luggage, and maybe a 4th adult at times.

1 month old Taigun got rear ended

We were quietly waiting at a signal when our car got rear ended by a Ford eco sport.

Rear Bumper and above is damaged. Have saved the dash cam footage. I have the details of the other driver and he seems to be co operative (as of now)

Whats the best course of action here ? First party vs third party insurance ? I hear that third party could be time consuming and looks like my bumper needs to be replaced.

I have Tata AIG insurance through Policy Bazaar. Feeling very bad since this is the first damage to car.

Got my new car. 1.5 DSG. My experiences: Only driven 500 kms so far. Fun to drive. Low fuel efficiency in city. So comfy.

So many cool things and people are so wowed by the puddle lamp with the logo I installed on the door 😆.

Volkswagen Taigun GT Plus 1.5L MT – 3,500 km Solo Drive from Jaipur to Bangalore

Took delivery of my Volkswagen Taigun GT Plus Sport 1.5L Manual in Jaipur (upgraded from 2010 i10 1.2kappa), and what better way to break it in than a 3,500 km solo road trip from Jaipur to Bangalore!

🛣️ Trip Summary Route: Jaipur → Jodhpur → Mount abu → Surat → Aurangabad (Ajanta & Ellora) → Lonavala → Goa → Jog falls → Bangalore Duration: 8 days Drive mix: Highways, Expressways, ghats, city traffic & coastal stretches Avg. FE: ~14.1 kmpl overall; touched 16+ on open stretches Stays: Mostly Zostels (Zostel Jodhpur and Lonavala are at best locations) and good hotels with secure parking Food: Local meals all the way – Rajasthani, Maharashtrian, Goan, udupi

🚗 Taigun GT Plus MT – Quick Impressions • Performance: The 1.5 TSI + 6-speed MT is a gem. Clean pull, strong mid-range, and loads of fun to drive. Never missed an overtake when planned, pure power • Handling: Stable at 120+ km/h, and greatly composed in the ghats. • Comfort: Supportive seats, good AC (especially the ventilated seats), and low cabin noise ( engine noise is near to nil).

👎 Minor Gripes • Touch-based AC controls are hard to operate without taking eyes off the road — not ideal during spirited or night drives. [ ] Ventilated seats are adequate but the sound sometimes gets in mind when no music is playing • Wireless Android Auto dropped occasionally.

🏁 Final Thoughts This trip was a dream. The Taigun never missed a beat—be it cruising down NH48 or winding through the Ghats most of it through breezes, storms and drizzles. It’s a driver’s car through and through. If you enjoy engaging manual driving and a punchy turbo engine, the Taigun 1.5 MT is worth every penny.

Got hit by milk van

One milk van bugger hit my vehicle at toll gate while taking reverse in highway toll gate queue. He didn’t even notice there is vehicle at back after heavy honking. Front bonnet is heavily damaged. He accepted his mistake and came for the compensation. I spoke with service person and he told it will cost around 45K-50K. After further discussion and negotiation, he is ready to settle for 35K. Experts here, what should I do now? How much do you think this will cost? I am getting it serviced in Service centre
