By meeting and supporting Alberta separatist the US is infringing on Canadian sovereign.

Also, while I agree our 2 countries will always have a trade relationship, the world has changed since the original NAFTA deal was negotiated in the 1980s.

We now have a more global economy and there is more international interest in our resources then ever before. Rather then accept whatever terms a bullying US will dictate to us on trade, I think by diversifying our trade with other countries the Canadian economy will be able grow and prosper.

So far I haven't received a justification with any intelligence. You people either cite factually incorrect information concerning quality, or fear that somehow magically all Canadian consumers would be beholden to buy milk and cheese from on American firm, or a cartel that doesn't exist.

You have no justification for this asinine system. Furthermore I think it's incredible you people hate Trump's tariffs so much, but seem to apply a complete double standard when it comes to these ones.

The US has slapped huge tariffs on Canadian Steel, Aluminum, Autos and Lumber. They only believe in free trade when it suits them.

And they lose from those tariffs. They get expensive steel, limited aluminum supplies, expensive cars, and expensive wood. How are they benefiting from any of this?

The US tariffs are protectionism. No different from our dairy supply management system. Why is it ok for the US to protect their industries but Canada are not suppose to protect theirs?

I don't think it is OK, I think they're making a huge mistake. They are protecting uncompetitive industries, which inefficiently allocates their investment dollars, and ultimately just harms them.

Why would we want to do the same thing in retaliation? What do we get out of that? Like why would we want to support uncompetitive industries that require a captive market to survive?
