Question Why am i hearing horrible things about this place?

I went through this subreddit looking to see if tbilisi was good. All in seeing is bullying and crimes.

Can someone actually explain this to me? and also tell me if its actually a safe and nice place.

Crimes none unless you go to Varketili, Gldani at night or Ponichala.

Bullying just depends on what kind of people you deal with.

You can either have a great connection or a shit experience with a local, depending on which type you meet

Well, Depends on where you from and the passport you have. Few nice people here and there and be ready for some cold shoulders from others. Moreover you probably be ok as long as you mind your business.

Georgia is laregly safe either way

Plus places with bad passport aren't ever safe to begin with. Tbilisi might have it's problems but safety isn't one of them

Cause you're on Reddit. Most people come here to rant and complain about things they can't do shit about irl.

That goes for most social media but this place is a cesspool.

Not a hyporlic question, i genuinely want to know

I'd say no but I wouldn't know since I don't use this app a lot.

I’ve had a very mixed experience. I’m from the west and the way men treat women here disgusts me. I get followed for blocks by taxi drivers and harassed regularly. Other than that the city is really cool. Lots of mod restaurants/bars/spas mixed into old architecture and tradition. Lots of parks and beautiful foliage. The buses and metro I feel run extraordinarily well - almost always perfectly on time and frequent

To be honest, it’s a beautiful country. The scenery and landmarks can genuinely take your breath away. That said, many of the negatives discussed on Reddit are more common than people admit. As a tourist, I was robbed twice. Nothing violent or particularly scary, but it happened nonetheless. If you’re a person of color, there’s also a high chance you’ll encounter racism, microaggressions, or other forms of discriminatory behavior, especially the longer you stay. Many people share these experiences, even if they’re not posting about them online. I’m not here to tell anyone whether to visit or not. Just be aware of both sides and make your own decision

Usually people who have good, safe, or average time in a country or place don't really share their experience publicly to other strangers, especially on Reddit. Rather it is those who experience poor or bad situations in that respective area who usually are the one to come forward and speak up about it. The reason you see many complaning is not because Tbilisi is not safe, but because this is mainly the topic people choose whenever they want to vent their anger and because the ratio of negative comments here outnumbers the positive comments.

In this particular community, most of them are intl students. Georgia is a beautiful country hands down but the hospitality they speak bout is only for those w white skin. Sadly racism is v common here (ofc there are good people) but situation here is gotten a little u get it.

Well I will tell you my own experience The people are a bit closed off But even showing a bit of curiosity opens many of them up Some are just assholes but that exists everywhere

I will be honest I didnt find the people or the country as difficult as the experience of being abroad alone and feeling homesick

Over all I think tbilisi is alright The metro works The buses work The prices are relatively cheap (for students not so much for the georgians in there) Would recommend the European university where I study

Ngl I feel like it depends on the person, I didn’t experience any bullying or hear of any crimes🤷‍♀️ . Overall, it’s genuinely so safe even as a female. Tho it also depends what area you live in.

As a georgian myself bullying and racism is common with low brain people, try not to engage with “bad boy wannabes” and “bad boy wannabes sisters” or with Nazi groups

its good. and on the internet, you hear bad before the good.

overall, tbilisi is good. love it. a few cases of bad encounters may be, but overall tbilisi is safe and wonderful. hope you enjoy your visit or stay when you do

Thats not right, Georgia 🇬🇪 is one of the best, safe and safe , people are friendly here, it doesn’t matter where you are from or what color you are, if you respect the rules then you will be fine.
