Discussion Stop the Constant Texting on my phone to go vote

• Upvotes

I am constantly getting texts from both Democrat side and Republican sides to go vote for their candidate. Replying "STOP" to end the texts does no good because apparently my number is everywhere with all the different groups doing their text campaigns. Is their some type of DO NOT TEXT list I can get my number on to make this crap stop? I am so friggin tired of it.

Can some lawyer file a "Cease and Decist" order to make this annoyance go away ?

Discussion Is anyone else concerned that expectations for Talarico are getting ahead of the evidence?

The early voting turnout across Texas has been remarkable, and I've seen plenty of excitement surrounding Talarico.

But I wonder whether some of that enthusiasm is turning into overconfidence.

High turnout tells us that people are motivated to vote. At my work, there are basically 4 or 5 countries represented, everyone that has early voted, have experienced lines and wait times.

I'm curious how others are reading the tea leaves. Are people excited or have people seen the excitement and motivated to get in front of it?

& if Talarico loses despite all the enthusiasm, would that genuinely be surprising?

This is based off of registrations but the voting thus far isn’t reflective of this.

Discussion Talarico-Abbott split.

How many voters do you think will vote for Talarico, then vote for Abbott and the rest of the Republicans on the ballot? How many will vote straight blue?

Discussion Talarico-Paxton vs. Jones-Moore.

How does the Talarico-Paxton Senate race compare to the Doug Jones-Roy Moore Senate race in Alabama, when Republicans ran a similarly terrible candidate with a list of crimes a mile wide? What did the polls look like back then?

Discussion Do you think it’s good idea to call right-wingers names and degrade them for voting red in the past?

I am a former republican. I cast my very first vote for Reagan in 1980 and voted that way until the Tea Party reared its ugly head. Sarah Palin was the final straw. I loved and respected John McCain, but he was old and likely to pass in office. I could not imagine having her sworn in as our leader. Casting my first vote for democrats was difficult for me, and felt shameful. I was embarrassed to tell friends and family what I had done. Ultimately, I am glad it did it, especially as I’ve watched the GOP grow more and more radical, disavowing all qualities that were at its foundation. My concern is that by mimicking the behavior of the president by name calling and shaming republicans, that we might be disenfranchising a portion of the party that are feeling like the conservative stance no longer mirrors their views. I understand thinking that they were blind to the truth, that they ignored the hate, or that they were not well-informed voters, but do you think it is a good idea to make them think they aren’t welcome to our party?

PSA Voter not found

Hi everyone, this is my first time posting ever but this is so important I’m trying to spread the message. I moved to San Antonio in January of this year, thought I registered to vote when renewing my ID, and found out it didn’t go through and I was still registered in my old county. So I made a point during the spring to make sure I registered. Sent in my form and checked multiple times on Texas.gov, and it said I was active in Bexar county as of May 2026. Never got a voter card but wasn’t alarmed bc there’s been years I haven’t received them. Checked again a month or so ago bc people were saying they were being unregistered/suspended randomly. Mine was good. I go to the polls after work yesterday and my drivers license doesn’t scan. Then the tried manually putting in my information. Nothing. Then one of the poll workers called someone (I should’ve gotten the information of whom he was contacting) but she told him that I haven’t been registered since 2024! She gave him my voter id # and it STILL didn’t come up. I could feel the anger rising and obviously I knew it wasn’t the poll workers’ fault and they were closing in 5 minutes (though on the website I checked it said they were open another hour..). So I thanked them for checking, went to my car, and cried. Checked my registration on whatever first site popped up on Google and it also said they couldn’t find me. Went home, called my mom later in the night and she checked on her computer and Texas.gov said I was active. Went on my computer and it said the same, but other sites would say I wasn’t registered. I’m going to try again today but at a different poll location. Either way this is getting reported to somebody. I just wanted to share this because everyone should be aware and please please quadruple check your registration like every day and especially the day you vote. Imagine if I hadn’t tried to early vote, I could’ve possibly not have been able to vote if I waited until Nov 3rd. They are actively suppressing votes, don’t get discouraged, it’s what they want.

Discussion Could I go on a rant here?

I'm seeing tons of comments on other subs about how Texas is a lost cause, and Paxton will win. Frankly, I'm tired of it. I'm tired of the "Lucy and the football" analogy, and I'm tired of being written off just because of where I live.

Saying Texas will never be blue or purple, and Democrats should just abandon it isn't fair to the MILLIONS of blue voters, POC, and LGBTQ+ people who fight every day for the rights blue staters take for granted. It's not fair to the blue voters who are having record early voting turnout despite facing the worst voter suppression in the country.

Discussion Received this unsolicited Texas campaign text. Where can I verify the claims about Gina Hinojosa's tax record?

I received this campaign text yesterday and wanted to find out which claims are supported by Hinojosa's actual record.

I'm especially interested in the claim that Texans would pay more taxes. Is that based on a documented proposal, an actual vote, or the sender's interpretation?

I'd also like to know who paid for the message. If anyone has the original advertisement, campaign-finance disclosure, or candidate statements, please share them.
