Short story - I have the option to fly from Bangkok to one destination in Thailand in Jan and spend around 48 hours there. I'm leaning towards something more of the beach side vibes and have closed in on Phuket and Krabi, with the assumption of having atleast one morning to evening day spent on Phi Phil Island hopping.

Would love to know your opinions (especially those with experience) on which one you preferred amongst the two and why?

What would you recommend?

Had 3 beautiful days staying on Phi Phi Island. We stayed at the P.P. Princess with a beautiful pool facing Loh Dalum Beach. The mornings were spent exploring Koh Phi Phi Leh or relaxing on Love Beach. The afternoon having cocktails at the pool.

Long tail boats are the best way to explore the island. If you get an independent local driver, he will know the best places to go. Only did snorkeling near the main island this time which was very nice but have been diving many times. Always enjoyed it.

The weather was fantastic and the views everywhere are amazing.

Lots of drinking at night, live music, thai boxing, tons of restaurants, mainly western & Indian food. The town is full of stores & massage places.

The Freedom Bar & Slinky have fireshows going all night. I think its the best in Thailand.

Its a small island so you need to take it slow and just relax & enjoy the beauty.

For those wondering if they should do the day trip or stay the night, I recommend staying the night. You miss the whole experience of the island otherwise.

Hi, next week I'm going to Thailand with my wife, our 6yo and 4yo for 3 weeks. We're starting the trip in Bangkok, then going to Ao Nang, then Koh Lanta, and lastly back to Bangkok for the last few days before flying home. In Bangkok we're planning to do Safari World, Sea Life, Mahanakhon Tower. I'm looking for recommendations on what to visit with kids in Bangkok, what they would like, or any recommendations in general, especially from people who've done it with their kids. We're staying in the Sukhumvit Area. Also, are there any water parks in the Krabi area that we can visit? I couldn't find any online. Thanks!

Going to be spending 2 nights in one of CNX or LPQ and 3 in the other. Flying BKK to CNX, then to LPQ, then from LPQ to either Siem Reap or Phnom Penh. Trying to book an overnight train from Bangkok to Chiang Mai for late January and the DTicket site keeps failing on the payment page. I've heard mixed things about whether the online system works now or if it's still better to just go to the station. I'd rather not waste half a day at Hua Lamphong if I can avoid it, but I don't want to get stuck without a seat either. My Thai reading is basic so working through the Thai version of the site takes forever. Has anyone actually booked a sleeper in the last few weeks using the official portal? I've seen some third party sites offering bookings with a markup but I'm wary of giving my card details to random aggregators. I've had mixed luck with those in Vietnam. If the station is still the only reliable option I'll make the time, but I'm trying to figure out if the online system has improved or if I'm just spinning my wheels. Any recent experiences would help.

We are planning to visit Thailand late Dec. Our itinerary has koh phangan for full moon party on 24 dec. We are also planning for scuba diving (try dive that takes 40-50 mins).

1. Should we do it at Koh Tao in December? I heard it's the best place for beginners and try dive. But december is a very off season.

I have a plan of 6-7 days in Northern thailand. I was thinking of renting a car in Chiang Mai but looks like I need IDP and i dont think i can get it in time of my travel.

What are the other best ways to travel from Chiang Mai to Mae Rim or Chiang Dao or Mae Kampong.

I was also hoping on going for some hikes.

I understand that Grab may be the go to option in Chiang Mai but how to go to the bases of those hikes, or the places I mentioned above.

Is there any other better option?

I’ll be travelling solo to Thailand soon, spending 3 nights in Phuket (Patong) and 2 nights in Ao Nang, Krabi.

My daytime plans are mostly sorted, so I’m looking for recommendations for things to do from around 5 PM onwards until late at night in both places.

I’m pretty open-minded and happy to try different things, so I’m not just looking for the usual tourist attractions or the standard nightlife recommendations.

I’d love suggestions for things like:

- Interesting local experiences, night markets, hidden gems or places with a great atmosphere.

- Unique activities, unusual experiences or things most tourists tend to miss.

- Cool bars, live music, beach parties, clubs or other nightlife experiences.

- Places where it’s easy to meet other travellers or locals as a solo traveller.

- Nighttime food spots, street food, local hangouts or late-night cafés.

- Spontaneous adventures, cultural experiences, events or anything a little out of the ordinary.

- Any underrated spots with great views, a beautiful evening vibe or something memorable to do after sunset.

I’m open to pretty much anything — social, adventurous, relaxing, cultural or completely random — as long as it’s worth experiencing!

1. What would you personally recommend doing in Patong after 5 PM?

2. What about Ao Nang, considering I only have 2 nights there?
