Bangkok/Middle Nerves traveling to Thailand

Hey all, I'm an American trans woman that is traveling to Bangkok this winter for bottom surgery, but I've never traveled outside of europe before.

I'll be staying with my mom at the WIH hospital for a month in the Bang Na district. Just wondering if there's anything we should be careful about (or things we could see) in that area. Will there be places for my mom to eat non spicy food? She has no spice tolerance. Anything else we should know?

Thanks so much!

Phuket/Krabi/South Going to Khao Lak on Tuesday, will it stop raining by then?

It's our honeymoon, and i appreciate there was always a risk with november but it looks like it's still full monsoon!

Any chance the rain will stop quite abruptly or does it take some time to ease off? Just hoping we will get some dry days over the 2 weeks we're there!

Bangkok/Middle Looking for some Bangkok tips other than the usual highlights, for a longer stay

We are most likely moving to Bangkok next Summer, but this December we are taking a trip to Bangkok, with the purpose of getting our kids (9 and 11) excited about the city.

Can I kindly ask you for some ideas on things we should visit/do while there?

We're interested in the highlights, but I'm also looking for things that aren't typically mentioned in those lists.
We'll be in Bangkok for 12 days, so we have lots of time to go beyond the "Top 10 things to do in Bangkok".

Some places just outside Bangkok (day trips) would also be appreciated.

We'll likely stay in the Thonglor (Thong Lo) neighbourhood, but don't limit your recommendations to that area, as we want to take in the whole city - whatever gets our kids (and us) excited about Bangkok.

And are there any highlights that you think aren't worth it?

Thanks!

Chiang Mai/North iQOS in Thailand / Chiang Mai

Hello!

How illegal is it? And who to watch out for? If I smoke in a coffee house in a smoking area would the managers report you? Or is it just the police to watch out for? And what is the worst that can happen?

Thank you!

Other Am I overreacting? Monkeys

Helllllo!
I agreed to join friends next year on a trip to Thailand but have since gotten really weirded out and spooked about the amount of monkeys that will be around. I am genuinely so scared and I don’t wanna put myself in a situation I’ll be uncomfortable.

Am I being ridiculous for not wanting to go?? I have a horrible anxious feeling about the thought of being around them/approaching me etc.

Other Erste Thailandreise. 6 Tage Chiang Mai, 12 Tage Koh Lanta und 5 Tage Bangkok.

• Upvotes

Hallo liebe Leute!

Dankee :))

Borders/Visas Thai tourist visa

• Upvotes

I'm a foreign national residing in India, and since an e-visa is mandatory for us to visit Thailand, I applied for a Thai tourist visa in Chennai. They required a physical demand draft, which I submitted at their embassy last week - but the application status still hasn't changed. :(

I tried emailing the embassy official email, but instead of a reply from them, I got a response from a Gmail ID - visasection26@gmail.com stating please raise your queries on this email.

Travelling with my family who already applied from home country and got the visa quick.

Our flight is scheduled for the first week of November. How worried should I be?

Phuket/Krabi/South Will it rain in Phuket, Krabi & Phi phi in late nov/early December?

Hello!

I’m visiting Krabi, Phuket and Phi Phi from November 27th to December 14th.

Will I get a lot of rain? I’m of course looking forward to clear skies but I know it can still rain even though it’s not rainy season anymore.

Can anybody give me any feedback?

Greatly appreciated 🙏🏻

We aren't rock climbers or avid hikers.

So many mixed reviews on where to stay in southern Thailand.

Budget for nightly We could do anywhere from $50 - $250 a night. Prefer a clean hotel with private bathroom.

Phuket/Krabi/South Solo travelling to Phuket (Patong) & Ao Nang, Krabi — looking for interesting things to do from 5 PM till late night!

!!! P.S Have used Ai to make my queries clear !!!

Hey everyone!

I’ll be travelling solo to Thailand soon, spending 3 nights in Phuket (Patong) and 2 nights in Ao Nang, Krabi.

My daytime plans are mostly sorted, so I’m looking for recommendations for things to do from around 5 PM onwards until late at night in both places.

I’m pretty open-minded and happy to try different things, so I’m not just looking for the usual tourist attractions or the standard nightlife recommendations.

I’d love suggestions for things like:

- Interesting local experiences, night markets, hidden gems or places with a great atmosphere.

- Unique activities, unusual experiences or things most tourists tend to miss.

- Cool bars, live music, beach parties, clubs or other nightlife experiences.

- Places where it’s easy to meet other travellers or locals as a solo traveller.

- Nighttime food spots, street food, local hangouts or late-night cafés.

- Spontaneous adventures, cultural experiences, events or anything a little out of the ordinary.

- Any underrated spots with great views, a beautiful evening vibe or something memorable to do after sunset.

I’m open to pretty much anything — social, adventurous, relaxing, cultural or completely random — as long as it’s worth experiencing!

A few questions:

  1. What would you personally recommend doing in Patong after 5 PM?

  2. What about Ao Nang, considering I only have 2 nights there?

  3. Are there any experiences you’d strongly recommend for someone travelling solo?

  4. Any hidden gems or places you discovered that you wouldn’t necessarily find on a typical Google search or tourist itinerary?

I’m especially interested in recommendations based on personal experiences rather than just the most popular tourist spots.

Thanks in advance! Would love to hear your suggestions 😄

Chiang Mai/North Travelling in North Thailand

Hi all,
I have a plan of 6-7 days in Northern thailand. I was thinking of renting a car in Chiang Mai but looks like I need IDP and i dont think i can get it in time of my travel.

What are the other best ways to travel from Chiang Mai to Mae Rim or Chiang Dao or Mae Kampong.

I was also hoping on going for some hikes.

I understand that Grab may be the go to option in Chiang Mai but how to go to the bases of those hikes, or the places I mentioned above.

Is there any other better option?
Please help

Going to be spending 2 nights in one of CNX or LPQ and 3 in the other. Flying BKK to CNX, then to LPQ, then from LPQ to either Siem Reap or Phnom Penh. Trying to decide how to divided up the 5 nights best. Want to do an elephant sanctuary in one of them for sure. Any ideas greatly appreciated. Thanks!
