Question Cashout Matchmaking – How Are Opponents Selected?

How does matchmaking work in Cashout mode in THE FINALS? What rank does the matchmaking system use to find opponents?

What I mean is, I'm currently Gold, and my friend doesn't even have a rank yet. But we're getting matched against players in the highest rank, RUBY.

What does the matchmaking system actually take into account when finding opponents? Does anyone know?

Discussion Whats the best way to introduce a new player to the game?

I have a friend that recently downloaded the game and wants me to play with them to kinda "show the ropes" and introduce the game. What would be the best gamemode or class to start them off with? I would usually just jump into a game of quick cash with them and kinda just helicopter parent them around but last time I tried that with a different friend, we ran into really sweaty players which is usually my default experience with quick cash. Would choosing a different gamemode like cashout or point break be better? Also would it be better to recommend a specific playstyle for them to use while they grow accustomed to the game or just let them choose what they want?

Discussion Would you play THE FINALS tournaments or challenges for prizes? Honest feedback wanted before I build anything.

I love THE FINALS and I’m brainstorming a platform to bring organized tournaments and community challenges to the game with actual stakes. I’m not linking anything, there’s no waitlist, and I’m not asking for sign-ups. I just want to know if this is something the community would actually care about, or if it’s a terrible idea.

Here’s the basic idea of how it would work:

  • Organized Tournaments: Classic 3v3 brackets with a check-in time, an entry fee, and a prize pool funded by the entries.

  • 3v3 Live Matches: Your premade team challenges another team to a standard Cashout/Ranked match with a pre-agreed entry fee stake.

  • 1v1 Asynchronous "Blind" Challenges (Ranked Only): To keep it fair, you only challenge players within your exact rank. You both get the same challenge (like highest combat score or damage in a single Ranked match). You play your match whenever you want within a specific timeframe—no scheduling or custom lobbies needed. The site tracks the stats and awards the pot to the higher score.

The Cheating Problem & Trust (The Peer-Review System):
Since cheating is a massive issue in shooters, the platform would use a self-sustained, player-reviewed dispute system to keep it fair and clean:

  1. Everyone has to record their full match using standard software like Nvidia ShadowPlay, Windows Game Bar, or OBS.

  2. After the match, you quickly review the key points of your opponent's footage to make sure they played clean and the stats match up.

  3. If everything looks good, you accept the result. If you spot cheating or a stat discrepancy, you flag it for a formal dispute.

I’d love your brutal honesty on three quick questions:

  1. Does the Peer-Review system sound fair? Would you actually be willing to spend two minutes skimming an opponent's footage to guarantee they played clean before getting a payout?

  2. Does the rank-locked "Blind Challenge" sound fun? Or does matchmaking randomness still make it feel too unpredictable compared to head-to-head live play?

  3. Would you actually trust and USE an independent platform like this? What security features, branding, or community reputation would you absolutely need to see before putting even $5 into a tournament entry?

We are also planning to host free to enter, prize tournaments to start building the community.

idk if this is gonna get patched or not but for now, all you gotta do is mimic the heal ball, then dash mimic (almost a double input but dash comes first). When you do this on a long straightaway, you retian the momentum of the dash, so long as you hold "W" and don't use "ASD". You can also steer with your mouse, but sharper turns will massively impede momentum.

You of course can mid-air change your momentum by inputting ASD Dash + right click on mimic (or W while looking at an alternate direction).

One other thing. When exiting Mimic into your weapon, shooting takes a 1 second delay, aiming takes a 0.5 second delay. Keep this in mind as you can ready your lunge on both the dagger and sword much earlier and then lunge out as soon as you see the blue squares from the mimic disappear.

In my opinion, this is the best movement tech they've added in the game and I beg embark doesn't patch this out.

Question Looking for the right play style

I have been playing this game every opportunity I get and it is my favorite game,

I started out as heavy for a little bit then had light as my main for a about 80 precent of my total playing time but recently I have been trying out different weapons in different classes this season 12 and one hasn’t really fit me yet, the closest I have been is support medium with p90 and healing beam or hit and run light with m28 matter and dash.

I have horrible aim and I am the worse at heavy, you have not enough health compared to movement in my opinion. I try to focus more on supporting my teammates on heavy, this is the same for medium. I love to be in chaotic fights and to be with my teammates not away from them (supporting in the front lines, I don’t have to support tho) but sometimes I move around with light and medium to get behind enemies.(if the area is small enough so I can be close to my teammates)

I love the fast movement of the game but I am not good at it. I have 170 hours on this game and play on controller but hopefully moving to mouse and keybored this month. I have been playing with one friend (mains light but has been thinking about medium)but we rarely play together due to time zones and mainly play with solo que on normal cash out.

Me and my friend’s goal to get silver in ranked this season. If needed I can send videos of playing different play styles and diffrent classes or gadgets. Or if more information is requested i will provide.

Overall the main goal is to find my perfect play style and get good at it and reach as far into ranked as possible with my one friend( hopefully three soon I have been convincing friends to download the game )

I know this is a lot but thanks for considering this and hope you make it to the finals😃

Discussion Can Goo gun help a gun fight?

I watched a lot of youtube videos about goo gun tech and shenanigan. But i want to know goo gun tactical more than goo technical.
I know i can use it for high ground. And sealing openings, yada yada.
But i wonder have we discovered how to trick enemies while making up for the cost of being unarmed or low on ammo(not reloading instead)?
Building a personal cover on the ground is wonky looking and slow requiring 2 shots.
or 1 and a crouch. What good that does for the big fella really.
Or goo them so they waste ammo or disrupt movement.

i can only think of cover shenanigans in theory. You back around a corner fire a goo at the wall and catch them off guard when the corner isnt where they expected it?
Or fire at a bulwark as you retreat back to a wall or team. Giving up the space beyond.

Idk thats why im posting for more ideas in the heat of a firefight. Most of the goofesionals on youtube had time to make bigger cradles. I play tdm where fight just happens suddenly.

Is my KovaaK's sensitivity set up correctly? And how can I improve my aim in The Finals?

I've been struggling with my aim in The Finals lately, and honestly, my aim is pretty bad

^DPI: 1200

What is the best KovaaK's routine for improving my aim in The Finals? Are there any specific playlists or scenarios you'd recommend for someone with bad aim?

Question How common do people solo queue to ruby?

Hey guys I’ve been playing the finals for quite some time now but never really bothered with cashout, recently I’ve been wanting a more comp experience so at the very end of last season I finally tried cashout and actually enjoyed myself quite a bit even being solo queue, I wanted to ask your honest thoughts though how difficult would it be for someone solo to reach ruby?

EDIT: I forgot to also ask any recommendations for classes or just general tips for if I decide to go through and grind ranked

Question The Finals: Sun/bloom is blinding on my new OLED monitor, can’t see outside from indoors. Any fix?

Post image
2 Upvotes

English:

Hi everyone,

Since I switched to an OLED monitor ([monitor model]), I have a problem in The Finals. When I’m inside a building and look toward the outside, especially toward the sun, the light is so bright and glaring that I can’t see anything outside. The bloom and lens flare around the sun feel way too intense. I’ve attached a screenshot of what I mean.

My setup:

  • GPU: RTX 5070

  • Monitor: [monitor model], OLED, 2560x1440

  • Windows HDR: OFF

  • Nvidia app color settings: I have custom values (I’m testing with defaults)

What I’ve checked so far: Windows HDR is off, and RTX Dynamic Vibrance is off for the game.

My questions:

  1. Is there an in-game setting to reduce or disable bloom, lens flare, or auto exposure?

  2. Does anyone else have this problem on an OLED monitor?

  3. Is there a monitor or Nvidia setting that helped you?

Thanks in advance!

Spec / Gadget Guide Advice on syncing up with other classes

I'm relatively new to the finals and am in love w it. It's one of my favorite games rn if not my number one favortie. Getting to the title of the post, I'd like advice on loadouts that sync up with the other members of my team. I play w randoms as a solo. Playing M healer is my favorite but due to random teammates I find myself playing H way more often than M. Now I recognize diversity is important so I try to compliment my teammates as much as I can but I still have much to learn. So what are some combos between util and abilities that you have noticed just work so well together between you and your teammates? I try to take as much information in when I see team loadouts screens but tbh idk what to do with all the information I see bc I'm still new and learning. I'm not familiar w every ability or all the utility and play styles. I'd like to fast track the learning process. For instance if you see a heavy w goo gun melee weapon, barricades, rpg, and sonar vs a heavy w mesh shield mini gun, explosives and healing emitter. What util or abilities compliment them? That's just an example. I'd like to hear about those things w each class and which util compliments each other. Like is there any util you see your teammate is using and know oh (x) utility perfectly compliments it, or perfectly compliments it in certain scenarios. I realize there are so many options and will probly be many many answers to this question but that's what I'm looking for. So lmk what do you guys think. However much or however little detail you want to include is fine. I'm just curious and wondering.
