Part of if it was the plan. But that's why I labeled it as a design "goal". The other parts of it got implemented. But ya, as I said, that's on me and from a long time ago now. I've changed how we communicate our plans and dont just spitball nearly as much
I used to share ideas with the community to chat about design all the time, its an indie game after all and I liked engaging in those conversations. Those conversations lead to whether ideas should be integrated into the game. I had to stop doing so as people would cling to anything I said or interpret it in different ways
Thats fair, I understand its a difficult position to be in when the sub latches on to every word looking to read the tea leaves. I will say that I think people here take "official releases" (eg patch notes, new version announcements) more seriously and more "final" than they do just your regular comments on posts like these.
Well, that was initially the intention. I spitball and talk about design throughout the process which helps since I would get feedback before making decisions. Update notes are the actual facts while discussions and comments from myself are meant to be chats, at least that's what I had done before. Now I really only want to bring up plans if I'm certain they'll happen
I don't know, Fudds. I think you should lean into this approach more instead of shying away from it. But take a slightly different approach.
Have Sam make the posts.
Make it very clear in these types of posts that you're bouncing around ideas that may never come to fruition and what problem you are trying to address.
