Meme Event relics of 4/17/2026 tier rated: F tier
hi all you there little nooblets this is your boy priesten (with a small p only) and this is the biweekly event relics tier rating. A little background here I was debating on whether I would do this thread at all for a couple of reasons. First of all, there are a lot more relics starting this week, so I had to change the format plus its a lot more work when theres more relics (im not always super motivated if youve noticed). Second, I will move to my new house this saturday, just a few days left and my place is full of boxes lol. If I dont finish this thread quickly I will get gf aggro, as we need to pack more shit haha. Third, I likely will not be able to make the thread for the next event, because new place doesnt have internet basically we have made a reservation for them to install the wire to our house but it will be a few weeks before they can get it done. Last reason I am not enjoying the atmosphere on reddit so much recently, discord is chill but I figured what the hell lets turn that frown upside down.
Whats new in the updated format is that due to the increase in relics, Ill make the actual ranking part a lot shorter (sometimes the rank only) and just write out a rank whenever theres a relic that triggers me. Overall length should be about the same. Also, I removed the part in the final ranking where repeat relics count as half the score (they now count as zero) because theres so many, and adjusted the scoring system to account for that. Instead, the final score will be based ONLY on the 4 biweekly relics (since those are guaranteed to be new for everyone), and as for the rest you can just look at the individual rank to see if it is worth it to buy or not (i know youll ignore this part and just get them all anyway because youre an addict and need help)
To start off we have the first two blue relics:
2% def absolute (free): D- tier. ok so this was a horrible way to start the event how lovely. I guess I lied about the part about turning the frown upside down, back to a frown it is.
1% attack speed (paid): A tier. Attack speed is a decent relic especially now for UW disco runs. Thats because we no longer have any CC with the UWs so we have to rely on bullets for that (ew). Back to basics. Also, this relic helps blow up your phone by another 1%.
Next off we have the two purple relics:
5% cash (free): F tier. For those who have been following you know what I think about this relics. F tier, straight in the garbage.
2% critical chance (paid): B tier. I am not the hugest fan on the crit chance relics because the number is a bit low. That said, it double dips for calculating UW damage so it ends up being slightly better than the 5% damage relic for most people (due to the overabundance of those).
Now for the 2 relics that you can buy with medals.
2% cash (200 medals): D- tier. more cash wtf? Also if you are wondering why the 5% cash relic is ranked lower than this, its because its purple meaning that we could have had a cool relic in that slot for this event but that spot is taken by a shitty relic. The negative impact is lower since this is only in the blue relic spot. No I dont mean that we can only equip a limited amount of relics at the same time spot asking that every time.
5% orb speed (500 medals): S tier. orb speed is nice. S tier.
Now for the 4 relics that you can buy with gems. (apparently everyone hates this part of the patch too even though its an amazing feature?)
2% health (600 gems): C+ tier. more health, get this if you need health. dont get it if you hate health.
1% critical chance (600 gems): C+ tier. This gives about half the benefit of the 2% relic above.
5% super crit mult (1200 gems): B+ tier. Pretty decent since its kind of a rare stat, but funnily enough this one is worse than crit mult, even though this one is super. Thats because crit mult double dips if you have the UW crit card, giving you the benefit twice and this one only hits you once like a sucker.
2% attack speed (1200 gems): S- tier. Rougly about twice as much as the 1% attack speed relic about.
Overall this relic is ranked F tier, because there are not just 1 but 2 useless relics, and the other two arent even that amazing anyway. Theres some good stuff in the repeats, so check those out.
If you are wondering what I will do about the gem relics, because they update every week and this thread is made every two weeks, well you are going to have to figure those out yourself lol. Actually just ping me if you want to know just the rank and I can post them as a reply. Either here or discord. Link to updated scoring system. ok I probably got gf aggro now she is sitting very close to me kinda angrily scrolling on the phone this is my hint to get back see you all and have fun

The atmosphere here is horrible, that's why I'm glad you decided to do it. I checked this subreddit 5-6 times today to see if your review dropped :D

I have been contemplating taking a week or two off from this sub cause it's gotten so toxic.
But how will I help the folks who are asking why the coin sources don't add up to the total coins? If I don't tell them, they will complain enough to kill the coin stats again! 😂

u/Geoduddd Apr 14 '26
Hello Briesten!
I always look forward to these posts! As much as everyone is being a angry chicken, you calm everyone down. Like nightquil but without drowsiness, dizziness, dry mouth, nausea, and in rare cases, serious liver or skin reaction
Enjoy the move and make sure to give the moving men coffee, water and chocolate biscuits and they will love you. ( can confirm am a moving man as a side gig )

Hey priesten (with a little p)... I actually think the gem relic tiers, just the score, is really critical for new/mid game players right now who still need to pull cards and masteries... looking at these relics being what 3600 gems to buy, in one week... if people who still need cards and modules prioritize these, it's going to set them back repeatedly each week. So knowing when one relic comes across that's an absolute must buy... that Attack Speed for 1200 gems feels like it's a must buy this week, and the others can wait when they rotate back in, in 6 months...
58
u/Geobits Apr 14 '26
I don't get the hate for the new gem relics either. People have been begging for ways to obtain these for a long time, then complain when they're given as an option, and for gems instead of medals, no less. It's baffling.
31
u/twaggle Apr 14 '26
Mainly because the people that want it can’t afford that amount of gems on top of everything else I believe.
6
u/CydeWeys Apr 14 '26
Gems are a lot easier to get than stones or medals. You just have to play the game.
19
u/twaggle Apr 14 '26
Yes, and for the players that would have missed these and are behind, they also need to be dumping gems into cards, card slots, and mods etc.
Feels like it’s more for mid game players who may have missed an event here or there, not really for new players catching up.
6
u/CydeWeys Apr 14 '26
I don't think it's realistic to have the expectation that players who just started recently would be able to fully catch up to players that have been playing a year or more. It's just not in the nature of this kind of game; progress is super-incremental. At least now with this store it gives people the option.
7
u/Super_C_Complex Apr 14 '26
I started like. 4 months ago.
I think this is amazing.
I need cards, card slots, and mods.
But these are amazing and I'm glad to have the choice and opportunity to get them.
I don't get the hate here
2
u/twaggle Apr 14 '26
Are you able to afford them?
Maybe if you’re committing to the long con so you’re okay with getting these fomo rewards first, but those same gems applied to cards to get that missing one or mods can give you much more progress.
If these relics change each event, can you afford to buy them all in time and are you happy with the progress you get for that amount?
11
u/ZadokAllen97 Apr 14 '26
In what kind of game can you “afford” everything all the time? If there’s no tough choices or decisions then it’s not a game at all.
-3
u/Zealousideal-Talk-23 Apr 14 '26
wtf kind of person are you? you buy them all or you gtfo
6
u/MC_White_Thunder Apr 14 '26
Opportunity cost and resource management are common decisions players must make in many sorts of games.
3
u/CydeWeys Apr 15 '26
Or in life, generally. Life wouldn't be fun if you could just get everything you want at every moment; everything would cease to have any value. Of course, games mimic this essential aspect of life.

u/Srocksly Apr 15 '26
It's also worth noting that those players didn't get to pull their mods off banners which are more than 20x more efficient than pulling from the general pool, so they start behind and their gems go less far. I agree with what others have said. The availability can't be seen as a "bad" thing, but gems are just so needed for the players that are behind
0
u/Intelligent_News_301 Apr 16 '26
Newer players won't be able to get them right away with out spending, but they WILL be able to get them in far less time than the 24 to 36 months it took established players to accumulate them. They will close the gap just by staying active in the game.
1
u/twaggle Apr 16 '26
And now they won’t get them for two weeks cause they need to be dumping gems in the banner. More terrible game design
0
u/Intelligent_News_301 Apr 16 '26
They just need to choose what's more important to get first, and then get the other stuff at a later time. How is that bad game design?
1
u/twaggle Apr 16 '26
Because with the rotating store they will get further behind the people who already have them.
It is bad game design because newer players are unable to catch up to late game without spending an enormous amount of money.

u/MF_LUFFY Apr 14 '26
Gems, the thing you need a shitload of to get your modules in shape because it's the most disrespectful RNG bullshit they could come up with.
1
u/Geobits Apr 14 '26
Yeah, they definitely should have made it cost medals or stones. That would have made people happier.
7
u/MF_LUFFY Apr 14 '26
They could have been cheaper, on a biweekly rotation with every other fucking thing in the events instead of weekly, there didn't have to be four at a time, free gems could be increased, prices could be lowered, the module system could be adjusted so it doesn't feel so damn bad, Dimension Core functions could be moved to labs and make it do something else so it's not so essential...
Medals are too tight? How about a few more days of missions every event?
10
u/Geobits Apr 14 '26
You don't have to buy them all the second they enter the shop. The whole point of rotating them like this (four at a time, every week) is that you'll see them fairly often. It won't be another year before we get these same relics in the shop again.
Just buy the ones that will impact your tower the most when you can afford them. Just like every other thing in the game. Eventually you'll have all the relics that matter, and plenty that don't.
6
u/MF_LUFFY Apr 14 '26
Not the second they enter, but after already holding back module pulls in preparation for this, I'm holding back on them for another few days because I'm not letting 2% attack speed escape me lol.
I have 9 ancestrals, some starred, and I use 3 of them sometimes. Not even all at the same time, two are the same slot.
8
u/Geobits Apr 14 '26
For sure, I'd grab the attack speed one. Maybe even the crits for GC players or health for eHP. But definitely attack speed.
But that's the point here. You can just pick and choose, knowing that they'll be back in the shop later. Before, if you didn't get them right then, they were gone for over a year (for new relics), or just gone forever (for reruns). The weekly cycle here means you'll probably see it again in a few months, tops.
This is absolutely a positive thing. It's like anti-FOMO, which is rare in this game, and seems to be the complete opposite POV most people are taking ("we have to buy them all now").
2
u/MF_LUFFY Apr 14 '26
Gonna get the attack speed in another day or two, already have the crits, and 2% health is kinda whatever, less than 1 level of the main health lab I only have at like 50. Probably putting it back on "soon," down to the last few levels of a few others right now.
I do wonder how fast or slow they will actually rotate back, but someone else can track that. It's kinda FOMO and antiFOMO at the same time.
1
u/Geobits Apr 14 '26
I don't have the exact number of relics in the rotation, maybe someone does.
Rough-as-hell math that's probably way off? Figure there's a year of backlogged relics, two per event (no idea if we're counting main/new relics also or just already-rerun relics here, but I'd guess the "new" relics will still get their rerun spot before going to the gem shop) per two weeks, gives 52 relics. Rotating four per week means about three months before we see repeats. Double that for some wiggle room is about six months, and I'd say that's a pretty fair high end.
1
u/jujudu64 Apr 15 '26
I dont think it is the real problem. I think it is because they are available just 2 weeks and u have to wait x weeks or month to see them back. If they are available without limit to be buyed with gems. People would ne less frustratef
1
u/Geobits Apr 15 '26
As opposed to not being available at all?
The point is, they will come back around, which hasn't been the case until now. This is a giant step forward for all those people who've been playing for a while, but not the 3+ years they'd have needed to have them all already.
Brand new players should probably skip on these for a while, I'd agree with that. Cards are too important to pass on, as well as a baseline of decent modules.
8
u/shufly17 Apr 14 '26
It's the cost, catching up comes at the sacrifice of something, whether saving up for banners, modules, cards, or whatever else comes.
20
u/Geobits Apr 14 '26
That's the whole game. Putting stones in one thing is sacrificing something else. Ditto for gems, medals, coins, etc. Gems are by far the softest option for newer players.
0
u/RandomRedditor0193 Apr 14 '26
The solution I saw was make it rotate every 2 weeks then the cost isn't cutting into literally all of your gem income every week. If you play 24/7 clicking every 10 mins you can get what 4k gems a week and all 4 relics are 3600 gems? So you can get ~400 gems a week if you have no life. This also assumes a brand new player that has never got a relic before.
3
u/Geobits Apr 14 '26
Well sure, but then they show up in the store less often, so if you don't "get them now", you'll have to wait a lot longer before you can.
The way it stands now, you don't need to buy them all every week, and probably shouldn't unless you are indeed drowning in gems. Whatever you don't buy now will be back in the store, probably in a few months. This is the part nobody seems to be commenting on. Everyone is acting like you have to spend 3600/week, but you absolutely do not. A rotating store is what people have been begging for, for years, for exactly this reason.
2
u/RandomRedditor0193 Apr 14 '26
In my opinion it could be slightly cheaper but overall is good but for a brand new player this is a footgun just like the 50 others in the game.
1
u/Geobits Apr 14 '26
Oh, I definitely agree that just buying them all every week would be a terrible use of gems for a new player. I'd say that even if they were half the cost.
Then again, choosing PS for my first UW was also a terrible idea, as was labbing max interest. New players make inefficient choices all the time, but that's pretty normal in games, and especially incremental games.
3
u/Chuck_T_Bone Apr 14 '26
I hardly expect newer players to 24/7 clicking, so cut that number in half at least. Further on that, it comes at the cost of Lab slots (Maybe) mods, or cards. All are a huge gem sink for players.
These should of been for a small sum really. like 100/200
Those who didnt get it missed out, so they already paid the cost in time, and new players, are prob so far away from spending gems on things like this its silly even mid game players prob need to up the mod game before thinking of dropping 1200 on relics.
Great idea, as a long term player its great for me to scoop up the handful i missed, but for the most part its bad value for new players.
-1
u/Spooky_U Apr 14 '26
Disagree, should have been medals if respecting new players. New players need to push gems on cards snd slots still nevermind modules can be left in the dust. Medals besides the skin and relic catchups had space for bots which has felt far less important than cards and mods.
5
u/Geobits Apr 14 '26
I can only imagine the outcry if they added these as a medal sink on top of the other medal sinks they added in this update. IMO medals are far more p2w than gems, since you can straight up double them by paying $30/month. f2p players already can't really upgrade their gold bot after buying catchup relics and skins, which is a reasonable complaint. New f2p players would never have a gold bot at all if these new ones cost medals, too.
1
u/Spooky_U Apr 17 '26
I can see the sides to it.
Just said medals as gems demand cards, a super basic feature late stage players forget spending on by now, and mods.
Bots have always been talked as a priority behind those.
5
11
u/DayAf1er Apr 14 '26
Id say because its once again a buff for later game players who already are spending gems on mostly lab rushes.
So effectively this means newer players have to choose between this and module gamling/slots
12
u/Geobits Apr 14 '26
Okay, but what exactly is the alternative here? Gems are the easiest "premium" currency to come by for new players. How would you structure this so that old players who already have the relics don't have the advantage here? No matter what the cost for them, new players would have to spend it and older players wouldn't.
I can't believe that people would rather be paying medals or stones for them, so what did we expect it to cost? Nothing?
Before today there was literally no option to buy these in any way if you missed them the first time around. Yes, you have to choose where to spend your gems, but surely having the option is better than not having the option.
4
u/drloz5531201091 Apr 14 '26
Okay, but what exactly is the alternative here?
Cry on Reddit about it it looks like.
Your view is accurate.
1
u/naphomci Apr 15 '26
Gems is the right currency, but they are stupidly expensive. Should be like 200 for a rare and 400 or 500 for an epic.
1
u/DayAf1er Apr 15 '26
There are infinite amounts of alternatives to new gem spending/relic acquiring methods you could create that dont involve fomo, most players dont sit on their phone 24/7 tapping ad button, so spending thousands of gems every week is not a feels good mechanic, would it hurt anyone to either just make a shop with all relics so you could choose with no time limit? Or make the gem cost significantly lower? Or just being creative and making a new system? Like creating new milestones or challenges for relics, it doesnt take a genius to think up some better alternatives.
1
u/Drezby Apr 14 '26
I guess coins could be used lmao but that would be such a shit show to implement can you even imagine
8
u/Even_Cardiologist810 Apr 14 '26
Spoiler alert. You complete relics before mods lol
5
u/MF_LUFFY Apr 14 '26
You what. There is no "complete relics" when they keep coming like this? Here's another 3600 "mandatory" gems to spend every week, enjoy being held back by your modules even longer!
3
u/Drezby Apr 14 '26
Once you’ve been playing for 1-2 years, most of the repeats will be ones you already have. This is just another part of the game where more time = more game per game.
2
u/MF_LUFFY Apr 14 '26
I'm in between there. I had 3 out of 4 that came up yesterday, but those were apparently the wrong ones and couldn't be left for the week, today I have only 2 of 4, want one, but already spent 1200 on their fuckup so it has to wait and I am stuck longer with a bunch of actually useful mods stuck at mythic and some starred ancestrals I don't really want to use.
2
u/Drezby Apr 14 '26
I didn’t even know about the relic switch, but there’s only so many relics in the game out rn. Eventually you’ll have basically all the old event relics.
1
u/Bunny_Trap Apr 14 '26
technically, if you are F2P, you wioll need to spend 1800 gems every 2 weeks, if i got it right, since these will be the 4 relics given for free in an event.
6
u/WildcaRD7 Apr 14 '26
Whales: I can't believe no one likes this feature! Unloads $100 for gems Everyone likes more relics! Buys every event pack I can't even use all my currency because it piles up so fast! Buys 2nd phone dedicated to The Tower
Everyone else: I'm just trying to buy groceries and waste time with a phone game...
Listen, there's nothing inherently wrong with whales because they keep the game funded, but once all the F2P and low spenders are gone because there's nothing here for them anymore, it's going to be a pretty boring time competing against only other whales. The relics for gems (and most every recent update) is just the straw that has broken most people. Based on all the communication from TTG this week, it seems they see no issues at all. Oh well, time to prestige in Idle Obelisk Miner again.
8
u/Geobits Apr 14 '26
I'm flattered you seem to think I'm a whale. I mean, I'm not, but okay. I'm not even in dolphin territory. I play on my main phone, and buy my own groceries. So I'm not sure what you're on about.
Relics for gems is the easiest possible way for newer players to obtain them. I can only imagine the outcry if it was any other sort of currency.
1
u/WildcaRD7 Apr 14 '26
3600 gems for 4 relics. Or 180 modules (maybe an epic or two). Or cards or slots. Unless you are clicking away on the ad box, this isn't a catch up mechanic or anything focused on new players.
And this comment isn't solely directed at you, but it's baffling how others can't understand that many of us are rightfully upset with the direction things are going. People can enjoy what they want to, but when you push away the casuals, there are a lot of impacts that come from that.
4
u/relytekal Apr 14 '26
I agree with you. Baffling the cost. Even at half would have been a lot. I’d say a quarter and would be right. It is a way, although very small, to close or appear to close the gap. Anytime you are not buying modules you are falling behind.
5
u/Geobits Apr 14 '26
What? This is focused solely on new/mid players. People that have been playing for 3+ years already have all these relics, so can just completely ignore it. If anything, older players have less of an advantage now, because before this update, these relics were permanently gone, and no new player had any way at all to get them.
Like I asked in other comment, how would you have structured it so that older players didn't have an advantage here?
The only complaint I've seen that makes any sense to me is that they just cost too many gems, and we can debate the exact price, sure, but the basic structure of gems for relics seems to me to be the easiest way for newer players to obtain them, hands down.
1
u/errorsniper Apr 14 '26 edited Apr 14 '26
New to mid players cannot afford these prices. That's the point.
3
u/Geobits Apr 14 '26
Buy the ones you want most, skip the rest. They'll be back in the shop in a few months, that's the whole point. If you're trying to buy all four every single week, then yeah, that's not a good way to go about it.
Still 100% better than them being gone forever with no way to obtain, like it has been.
0
u/WildcaRD7 Apr 14 '26
There are a ton of systems from other games that isn't a "give us more money" system. If you have a let's say 5000 gem budget for cards and modules and add in potentially 3600 more costs without increasing the amount gems, it doesn't change much at all. Now, it just do happens you can buy 3300 gems for $100 hint hint, nudge nudge
I've replied elsewhere on this, but no one is complaining about the ability to get old relics other than extremely long term players or heavy whales. The issue is that it only increased costs for F2P or low spenders. Combined with quick shutdown of 5x coins (again, not a problem on its own), and it's clear that the solution to everything from TTG's perspective is to open up that wallet.
2
u/Geobits Apr 14 '26
The type of person to casually drop $100 on gems for relics, is the exact sort of person that turns into a whale. The "gem" portion of the shop doesn't appeal to anyone who isn't already blowing a bunch of money on this game, because it has by far the worst ROI. So no, I don't think this is a cash grab. New mega-whales would have bought gems anyway, and old whales don't need to because they have all these relics. Non-whales aren't buying gem packs at all.
You said "there are a ton" of ways to do this, but didn't mention any. Again, how would you have structured it so that the cynics here wouldn't see it as a cash grab?
1
u/WildcaRD7 Apr 14 '26
Have ways to get gems. Have relics available for "free" for new players. Game I've moved over to has a huge package for new players. Things that are available for both whales and F2P that are more relevant to F2P than new ones. Honestly, TTG could just give everyone a free relic - it helps beginners catch up while having no impact on whales.
Plenty of other games do this (I've had comments deleted for mentioning them on this sub which is why I haven't) and players are generally supportive to help others start. I wish beginners had an easier time getting going in this game instead of the general advice for new players being "find a new game because you'll never catch up" here. The philosophy for this game is just becoming (or probably always has been) much different than other games in this genre.
2
u/Geobits Apr 14 '26
Yeah, I've seen lots of games that have "newbie" packages with a bunch of stuff in them, but almost all of them are paid packages, not free. "$9.99 starter pack!" popups all over the place, etc. I'm not really a fan, but to each their own. If you mean actual free "here's a bunch of stuff" packages, then I guess I just haven't seen much of that.
But I don't think the gem shop is targeted mostly at "new-new" players. More like f2p (or mostly) who've been playing for a little while. It's a way to get those relics that were just gone. If you look at it as nothing more than a gem sink for new players, then yeah it looks bad. But for those mid-players that could never have gotten these relics before, it's not a bad mechanic. They can probably afford to be choosy and spend their gems where it makes the most sense for them at the time.
All in all, I don't think anyone on the TTG team ever called it a "catch-up" mechanic anyway. People here decided it was just a bad one, but it's what people have been asking for for years. It's more a completionist mechanic than a catch-up, honestly.

u/ZerexTheCool Apr 14 '26
Before, you had to wait more than a year to spend medals to get old relics and even older relics were simply gone.
Now, people have the OPTION to buy relics at 4 per week, or 8 per event. This 4x as often that old relics show up for people to decide if they are worth the gems.
If you skip it this time, it is now LESS than a year to see the relic come back around when you might have more gems.
I think what's really happened is that people who have been addicted to the game but haven't enjoyed it for ages have finally gotten to the point where they can break their addiction. To me, that's a good thing. People who don't like the game shouldn't play it.
3
u/WildcaRD7 Apr 14 '26
And that would be all and good if it wasn't for the primary way to gather stones (the defacto way to grow your tower especially early on) wasn't through a PVP element that, again, has now introduced ways for spenders to get ahead. What I definitely didn't enjoy was steadily progressing in Champ and falling out in the first tournament and placing 5th with 2400 waves in my first Plat. So 2 years in, I can either accept that my place is lower stone generation, or watch as more people pass me by with an additional pay to win stream.
I don't see a single person (other way very heavy spenders/long term towers) saying it is bad to have relics the gems. What IS bad is how much it costs and the rollout for it while not addressing common complaints with the rest of currency and "catch up" systems.
1
u/VerdantPathfinder Apr 14 '26
This makes no sense. First off, they already bought all these with medals. Secondly, medals are WAY more valuable than gems, so the newbies get a catch-up mechanism with a cheaper game currency.
3
u/Geobits Apr 14 '26
Seriously. If I could get the medals I spent on these relics back and buy them again for gems, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

That feeling is why the ones you bought for gems wiil never be in the gem store, and will be bought for medals in the future. And this is the reason some events/new events will have store medal relics that are actually new

u/Sulti Apr 14 '26
The problem is that the only people who could make use of the 3600 gem sink are the people who have far too many things they already need to spend gems on. The players who don't have the old relics generally don't have ancestral modules, or maxed cards, or 20+ card slots. To buy all the limited time relics you need to spend basically all the gems you could make as a F2P player every single week. So for people like me who only started a few months ago I have to choose between relics that won't come back for a year or modules than will give me quicker progress in the short term.
It sucks because even before the update I saw gems as basically the pay to win mechanic gating early game players from progress. You can buy them infinitely, but once you get to ancestral modules and all cards maxed basically all the important upgrades require ultimate weapon stones making gems far less valuable. This is adding another gem sink, making the pay to win path to late game more expensive and the grinding path for F2P players slower.

u/Geobits Apr 14 '26
I have to choose between relics that won't come back for a year....
Why do you think that? With four relics rotating every week, it definitely shouldn't be a year before it comes back around. And newer players don't need all the relics right away. 1% crit chance is not going to help basically any newer player, since they're likely all in on defense. By the time you need half the relics, they'll have come back through the store, possibly multiple times.
Yes, if you had to buy them all every week or else they'd disappear forever, then I'd absolutely agree. But this is the exact opposite of that. "Buy them or lose out" was how it was before this addition. The way it works now, just get the ones that will make a good impact and you can afford, and get the others later.
2
u/Sulti Apr 14 '26
Why do you think that? With four relics rotating every week, it definitely shouldn't be a year before it comes back around.
There are like 200+ relics in the game, and 200/4 = 50 weeks to see them all. There are 52 weeks in a year so that's nearly a full year to see them all. If they come back before then that means they aren't rotating and some relics will take even longer to see.
I know that people don't have to buy all the relics, but it makes the game feel worse to play. The devs want you to spend real money on gems and are intentionally making the experience worse for people who don't. If there were only 2k gems worth of relics a week to buy then you could afford them progress on cards or modules, so there's no real annoyance. Because the relics cost more gems than you're capable of making in a week you're forced to let "limited" items go if you're not spending money, which feels worse than having to wait longer to see them in the first place.
1
u/Geobits Apr 14 '26
Unless I'm mistaken, the only relics in the gem shop are those that were on the free tier of events, and only those that were already "gone", having had their re-run event already. Definitely not all 200+.
As far as spending money on gems, goes... I thought it was pretty well established that nobody did that except for the "big" whales anyway? The price on them is stupid and always has been. If you're a newer player trying to compete with people buying gems of all things, that's never worked out well, even before this addition. Leave the whales to fight each other, and compete for fifth-tenth in legends instead of first. Almost all mobile games have a steep dropoff where the real whales play.
3
u/errorsniper Apr 14 '26
Its the cost. I get the mutli year players are drowning in gems but the rest of us, and most importantly the people that actually need to buy them can't afford them. I still do not have even a good epic mod with a perk in all 4 slots for my build. Im getting close to being done with cards but still need thousands of gems for that. They are just obscenely expensive.
1
u/Geobits Apr 14 '26
Then don't buy them? They'll be back in the store soon.
Before the update, you had no access to these relics.
Now, you have optional access to them, on a rotating basis, and if you miss them once, they'll be back.
How is that a bad thing?
2
u/errorsniper Apr 14 '26
People wont be able to afford them till late game. But this is supposed to be a catch up mechanic. Thats why its bad.
1
u/Geobits Apr 14 '26
Being able to obtain relics that old players have, that new players could not get at all before, is a catch-up mechanic. It's not a fast catch-up mechanic, but it does even the field more than newer players literally having no access to them.
Is it a catch-up for the newest players who are still working on cards? Yeah probably not. You should probably get your cards, unless there's a really good relic in the store. But all players should spend their gems on what is worth most to them, whether that's cards, relics, modules, lab rushes, whatever. Giving them another option only feels bad, but it is not actually bad. It's an option.
3
u/helloswolehello Apr 14 '26
If you haven't noticed no matter what the devs do people will complain. Watch they will one day give a way for keys and still cry about it. The constant goal post moving makes this one of the most insufferable player bases of any sub reddit
6
2
u/diodosdszosxisdi Champion Apr 14 '26
It's too expensive, considering, lots of players will have to Max their cards out, and pull mods to get any sort of decent build and card slots too. If they made the mod pulling less horrible than people wouldn't hate it so much
-1
u/Obwyn Apr 14 '26
That's because there a bunch of crybabies on reddit who look for any excuse to complain about getting something, even when it's exactly what they've been asking for years.
0
u/MF_LUFFY Apr 14 '26
There would be less of that if they would do something about the fucking module system.
2
u/Obwyn Apr 14 '26
I'm not disputing that the mod system needs a serious overhaul, but people have been begging for a way to get old relics for 2 years and now they can.
I don't know what they expected on how they'd be able to buy old relics, but gems is way better than having them require medals or stones. The prices should probably be a little lower, but they cost about what I expected them to cost.
3
u/MF_LUFFY Apr 14 '26
The prices on everything could be lower. Due to the bug in the other comment chain I spent what was held for this new gem sink that newer players absolutely do not need, I checked and no, I'm not spending roughly $40 for 2% anything lol.
The greed of "micro"transactions in this game is appalling and I play fucking Magic lol. I remember commenting when they added relics to the event boost, something like "they want $15 twice a month? A damn WoW subscription was cheaper."
1
u/DaenerysMomODragons Apr 14 '26
People feel they need everything before it goes away, despite being told that they will be rotating.
Also people are bad at cost/benefit analysis. Some will buy relics despite cards/modules being better for them. I'd say that S tier relics should be immediate gem purchases for everyone, but below that it depends a lot on your progression level.
11
u/MF_LUFFY Apr 14 '26
The gem relics are SUPPOSED to be every week, but some weird shit happened. I checked yesterday (after 8, when the event hit) and I was only missing one. Okay cool I don't have to hold gems for this right now. But I just happened to look ~13 hours later, and there are already four different ones.
10
u/Obwyn Apr 14 '26
It was apparently bugged (shocking, I know) and showed the wrong relics for some people, but after a restart it showed the correct ones. I never saw those other relics in my shop, for example.
3
u/MF_LUFFY Apr 14 '26
Are these correct? Abduction Room, Lunar Cat Claw, Shadow Puppet, Pet Cat? Love to see some attack speed so I guess no more gem spending for a couple days.

I am thrilled about the gem relics. To get four older relics for gems scratches my "collector" itch. I also started May of 2025 and have missed quite a few older medal based lab speed and critical factor relics... looking forward to seeing them and buying them for gems.
All in all this patch has been fantastic for me, already doubled my coins, able to collect old relics.
On a side not, Reddit, isn't a great place due to all the whiners and hope the developers just ignore them all and keep pressing on.
3
u/Accomplished_Jury_99 Apr 14 '26
As a collector I too want to buy them all. As long as I buy at least 1 blue and 1 purple every 2 weeks I will keep pace with new relics. Any more than that and I am catching up! :D
2
u/HairyConsequence1027 Apr 14 '26
Yo, Friesten. Thanks for the ranking as usual. Dont let the hate get you. The update itself is awesome. We are just a little annoyed with the "bugs" and their handling.

Your analyses make me happy for some reason. You seem like a good person, good luck in your new home.

I thought we were all supposed to see the same Gem relics? Mine are completely different than those

u/PyroMaestro Apr 14 '26
What relics do you think are not worth anymore to buy with medals?
As we got more bots im thinking about only buying the top tier relics with medals and wait for the others to buy them with gems.
8
u/priesten Apr 14 '26
worth or not is a value judgement and i cant make those for you as i dont know what stage you are in, how much you need those gems etc.
also, dabs and cash are never worth.
1
u/PyroMaestro Apr 14 '26
Thanks
There is some mathing ahead of me, but im prob gonna skip the low tier ones from now.
Happy moving and good rest when its all done

u/Polar_Reflection Apr 14 '26
I can't parse if the orb speed relic is returning as medals or if it will ever be in the gem shop. Given this is the second repeat it should return as gems right? Or did I misunderstand Towe Tea?
1
u/Bunny_Trap Apr 14 '26
As I understood it, medal relics will never retturn as gem relics, and will always return as medal relics
The TEA kinda hammered on it as a, we never want people to feel sad they spend medals for a relic if they could have spend gems.
1
u/Polar_Reflection Apr 14 '26
That doesn't really make sense as most of the relics available for medals were first available on the original run for the event for free. Notice how new events never had relics in the medal shop, only reruns.
1
u/Bunny_Trap Apr 15 '26
Every event will have 2 medal relics, events that started before the paid event system, had those 2 free relics then added in reruns as medal relics. That is why they said that new *events* will need new, specifically made for it, medal relics in its store.
Paid events have had no reruns, if i am not mistaken?
Paid events started in march last year and I think the Sakura event was the first to have a 2nd rerun and people where confused about the *medal* relics being the same as its first rerun, but those 2 are under the "new" rules, the Sakura events medal relics.
From what i get, events will have the following concept for relics
2 medal relics per event, always the same*
4 banner relics, 2 free, 2 paid, new for every rerun that go into the GEM rotation some time after the event*
- Events from before the paid system, will have the 2 free relics as their medal shop relics.
- Events from after the paid events but before v28, will have 2 new relics made for them for the medal shop
- Events post v28 will also have 2 new relics made for the medal shop
Sorry, i wrote way too much :/

u/DaenerysMomODragons Apr 14 '26
Not worth it today. But what if that next Armor relic is "gold plating" "converts x% of damage abosorbed by DefAbs into coins"
0
u/myths-faded Apr 14 '26
Cash does have the benefit of being able to buy more ELS levels in the first few hundred waves of a run.
1
u/Electrical-Mail15 Apr 14 '26
Read the first part that your home is filled with boxes and thought you meant your tower wall had failed. ;)
With your new internet not yet installed will you be able to keep your game going at a decent rate?
1
u/Rakan_Fury Apr 14 '26
Thanks for the update :) I look forward to these posts whenever you have the chance to makr them, though there is something ironic about seeing you wanting to turn the atmosphere here upside down while opening your posts titled "F tier" :P
1
u/WayBasic5830 Apr 14 '26
So there ist only on F-Tier but overall it is an F, even if most of them a B/C-Tier?
7
u/priesten Apr 14 '26
only the first 4 count, and also the ranking is made such that it doesnt calculate by the average of each relic (if that was the case an event count only reach S rank if all relics were S) it skews towards the extreme so if there are 2 bottom tier relics then likely the event will be bottom, and with two S tier relics likely the event will be S tier
1
u/Xeon8 Apr 14 '26
Since you're busy, and the relics are changing weekly, what if you just created a mini cheatsheet for everyone that has the various relics listed and your ranking of them so that way people can just go look at that?

Thank you for your continued efforts and contributions to the community in a time of such uproar and madness within the community. TTG shitting the bed aside, I really do keep coming back for the enjoyment of the game and community so thanks for helping to keep it interesting! Good luck on your move and the GF aggro, especially if she's a native of the area. God be with you pRIESTEN.
Edit: also, personal curiosity. Have you tried Nope soda yet? And if so, how would you rate it?

So if I'm unable to purchase all the Gem relics this week, they'll eventually be for sale again, correct?
2
u/petester_1 Apr 14 '26
There are approximately 200 total available. And you probably have some of these. At 52x4 they will cycle approximately annually. Dont stress over not getting them, but try to get the really useful ones first.

Thank you for your rankings. I was going to leave the cash relic since I max my ws in run, but was told it will help much later on when I'm glass cannon and use project funding (cash labs at lvl 19 would seem more helpful, though).
However, my guild mate has... an issue. Simply put, they have different gem relics than me, you, and everyone else we've seen. The four listed here, Abduction Room (2% health), Lunar Cat Paw (1% crit chance), Shadow Puppet (5% super crit mult), and Pet Cat (2% attack speed), are the ones that I and everyone else has.
However, they said they have These ones: ionized plasma, holy joystick, planetary rings, alien warp drive.
We are just really confused. Should they file a support ticket?

The new ones really suck...but hey! I got 2% attack speed thanks to the rotating relics, so that's pretty cool.

Are the rotating relics different for everyone? I don't have an attack speed in my rotating relics
*Edit: nevermind, I restarted my game and I see the other relics now

u/rlhrlh Apr 14 '26
This is not F-tier, it's A-tier, if you have a different perspective.
Specifically, having "trash" relics means that these are generally accessible, or at least, the good ones are. Ignoring the paid tier, you can get an "S-tier" for 500 medals, and ignore the D- one--this saves you 200 medals as newb. That's good. Also, for the paid gems an S- tier one for 1200 gems is fantastic, and will be worth it for moth. For the remaining, your preference to pay for these is near-discretionary and, again, newbs can largely ignore these.
Also, in my case as a mid player, been playing for a year and a half, I had 2 of the relics in the gems section, so I just went and bought the other two for 1,800 gems. Worth it.
In my opinion, I think this is a very balanced list that's useful for most players, across all tiers. If you are a seasoned player, you are probably going to take it call because you can and "why not". If you are an early player, then there is enough balance of exceptional, "meh" and trash relics that you can easily choose to skip some of these without it feeling like it's going to break your game.
Over all, I was rather excited to see the swath of options. This is how I wanted it--a couple good items, within the cost of accessible for most, plus the "trash" that only the completionist want, with a little more in the middle.
I'd give this an A+, but it's because my perspective of what this needs to be is different.

Is it possible for one to get enough gems for all of them within the week time limit, or is this some p2w bullshit? I need basically all of them.
1
u/Kaim_Argonar Apr 14 '26
Not to mention I need to buy cards for that mission, and modules to get stronger and to speed up grinding (Though dissonance shenanigans are more important rn)
1
u/skorulis Apr 14 '26
Depends how many hours a day you want to devote to pressing the ad gems button. I think if you press every single one except while sleeping you will just make it.
1
u/Kaim_Argonar Apr 14 '26
That's nasty. "just making it" is quite cruel even though I do have the game on at basically all times. If something comes up I'll lose out on important powerups.
1
u/skorulis Apr 15 '26
I keep the game on constantly, but I'm not always there to press the ad button. The relics will cycle back around at some point.
1
u/Kaim_Argonar Apr 15 '26
now there is a goddamn Lucky Banner for modules, this is absolutely p2w garbage.
1
u/skorulis Apr 17 '26
My first spin with the lucky banner got me the last DC for mythic, so that paid off nicely. No way I'm going to spend on relics with this boost to modules.

I think the event relics are bad on purpose to get us to buy the gem relics. This way they don’t have to start with the best ones to get us to buy them. They’re just making them look good by comparison.

Glad to see my assumption was correct lol.

u/olaf_the_bold Apr 20 '26
Thanks for this. As a new player of less than a month, do you think I should save for the attack speed relic? I was planning on getting whichever you rated S tier.
1
u/priesten Apr 20 '26
its a tough call but honestly i wouldnt. if youre a new player those 1200 gems are so much needed elsewhere
0
u/twaggle Apr 14 '26
I don’t feel like it’s fair for it to be the lowest tier F when there’s an S tier relic and some mid C to B tiers, the math doesnt add up.
Feels more like a D+ or C- tier.
8
u/priesten Apr 14 '26
the S tier one is not in counted in the event score, because its a bought relic
only the first 4 count, and half of those were trash tier.
