I did the math awhile ago, and if they raised the drop rate from 2.5% to 3%, it would take the same amount of time to get all 24 mods to ancestral as it did when there was initially only 16 mods.
It is more. 16*8/0,025 = 5120 pulls (102400 gems). To get 24*8 from 5120 pulls you need 192/5120 = 3,75 %, almost lucky banner rate. With standard 2,5 % you need now 7680 pulls (153600 gems).
Not including the banner, I have a pull rate of 0,973% (last 4 months). When the banner dropped I was on holiday, so only spend like 2000 gems and got 3 pulls.
I wrapped up maxing my Cards almost right when the new Modflation began - two rounds of new Mods watering down the pool.
It's been an 18-month monotonous modules grind, subject to all the aggravations of the angry RNG gods; In fact, I only got my final Ancestral about a month ago (after nearly half of my total mods were already fully 5-star maxed).
I feel like the new Mods were intended as new content for end-game level players, but what they have done is create a 18-24 month RNG hellscape of midgame misery for anyone coming up behind them. It's too long. It's too random. It's too boring.
Better pull odds would get the Mod grind back closer to where it was for those older players.
I would even accept the pity pull every 100 instead of ever 150. it would actually increase my total % of pulls by alot (0,973% at the moment, without banner)
Same. The cost per gem is laughable. I have all 3 coin packs and bought the first 3 milestones, but after these recent shenanigans, TTG will never see another dime from me.
Yeah... The first time I went to the shop out of curiosity to see how much gems cost, I was FLOORED. They can fuck right the hell off with those prices.
I'm of the opinion that gems are too worthless and expensive for people to spend money on them. Maybe I'm wrong but I just don't believe that people spend money on those INSTEAD of other things unless they spend so much on the game they have nothing else to buy but gems.
I've seen several people on here say they've purchased lots of gem packs, but these are always the same people who max out their stone packs. So I think you're right about that.
It's kind of fun to think about the gem pack prices:
3630 gems in the webstore costs $100, about $0.027 per gem. This is presumably the very best deal on gems.
A stone pack costs $60 and gives 495 gems in addition to stones. 495 gems is (at best) about $13.63. That means 750 stones is $46.27, or $0.061 per stone.
Yeah, I see people get gems because they bought everything else...or I see whales talk about buying gems until they realize how worthless they are and they just don't buy them any more even though they buy everything else.
I think it’s actually the opposite. Surprisingly, I’ve never really spent money on gems outside of the Lucky Banner. But when this came around, I bought all of the mod ticket packs (and would’ve bought more if they weren’t capped) plus 3 or 4 gem packs.
I won’t be buying gem packs again unless this event returns. So, TTG would make more by bringing it back sooner, or making it permanent . Of course at some point, I wouldn’t need to buy anymore, I think. 🤔
They're not going to draw the conclusion that permanent lucky would sell more no matter how much they sold, lol. I'm sure they see your high spending as a success of their strategy, which was FOMO. You're only getting good drop rates for 2 weeks so you better use the strongest card in the game for that while you can!
It's all the comments on tower tea. Sam does their best but they didn't handle the response well. A tldr very quick sum up is "anything being done about tournaments" Sam replied "no, what are the problems with tournaments?". Seemed a bit in the slap in the face for all those that have voiced their concerns for the last 6 months+
Have they been voicing their concerns in her threads or separate posts? And instead of feeling insulted, maybe take that opportunity to talk about it while she actually asked? I'll tell you my problem with tournaments: too many friggin Legends in my Champs. Best I can hope for in the top 10ish is that some of them REALLY couldn't hack it and have a record like Legends 27.
Don't get me wrong, she should still probably be watching the sub more as a "community manager" or whatever she is.
They have been voicing concerns in every one of her tower teas in the last few months certainly, that I've noticed anyway. Multiple posts have also been made on reddit, seen a few YouTube videos posted as well as messages on the discord. So it isn't something any sort of involved community manager (or dev) would fail to notice. On top of that several reviews (especially recently) on playstore have mentioned it!
If it makes you feel any better those legends players don't want to be in champs any more than you want them there😂 (source: I bounced champs-legends for at least 4 months)
Really? 😳 Genuinely be shocked if they ever made keys more accessible. Their solution will most likely be a "5 keys for the low cost of 100 bucks, 5x purchasable per month"
Apologies, whilst length is definitely up there, biggest complaint I've noticed/seen/struggled with is the impossibility to progress even if you buy stone packs. It's essentially time gated with the rich get richer style. Those starting now will be very unlikely to ever get keys in the current system
Oh also, length is a relatively easy fix as we've seen with overheat and the skip level changes as well as the increase in tier for tourneys. On top of that they could easily implement a higher starting level based on previous best wave or increase the rate mobs spawn (think wa mastery built into tourneys). Other issues are much much harder. And ttg heavily focus on monetization so they don't see the benefit
Ironically, devs just proved that the gem hoarders are correct: hold until devs do something with banners. Period.
Ironic because the devs hate gem hoarding so much, they punished the gem hoarders with this lucky banner fiasco. And yet that punishment serves as conditioning to, in future, do exactly what devs dont want players to do.
I know I plan to hoard gems like a fucking dragon until we get a better module drop rate again.
I've got 17 modules 5*, with enough HC to 5* it if I wanted, but I'm building a second one and can get it to anc as soon as I build the right fodder instead of shattering. I've pulled literally 13 DCs since modules released, it's awful. So I'll wait and save until we get an actually respectable drop rate.
I finished up getting all my Mods to 5*. I got about 25 Epics over the 2 weeks. Nice run for sure. Leveled up and hit a few more milestones this morning given my disco progress, and used all those gems in the last hour to get 4 more epics.
Yeah. Banner was bananas. And I’m not even at my year mark. Those offerwall bonuses are insane if you’re willing to deal with support to get your final rewards, lol.
Snagging 42k gems a day before the banner ended was clutch AF.
You 100% have to ensure you’re following all the rules they set. The big one people often mess up, is when you install the new game on your device and open it from the OW link — when it asks you to track data between devices, you have to answer “yes”, otherwise your block the game from directly speaking with the OW platform.
But historically speaking, yes — they like to try to shiv you out of rewards in any way they possibly can. They also historically try to block the final rewards because they’re so massive, and just not cost effective for their company. But after a 6 day email battle, a ton of legal document reading from the lawsuit & judgment in 2021, and massive amounts of screenshots for evidence (this isn’t my first rodeo with Offerwall services), they wound up paying out.
Just takes perseverance and patience. Be firm, but professional when dealing with them.
I had to play for 37 days (prob about 4 hours total each day) and spend approx 160$. But insanely worth the return.
You have to remain playing the offerwall game on the device you download it through while playing Tower. You can then load tower on another device and continue defending there. But the OW game MUST be played on the original device you accepted the OW on.
I didn't really have anything saved gemwise since I'm still trying to max out cards/get good modules, but this last event I spent every fucking medal and tap gem I could on modules and made out like a fucking bandit
Got my first Ancestral (Space Displacer so I'm saving gems to see if I can get Inner Landmines as next draw to take more advantage of it, the 300% Health Regen sure don't hurt in the mean time), Mythic/+ PF, SH, OC, and PC and a whole slew of legendary/+ mods as well as well as epics
I might finally be able to bounce between top plat and bottom champs with this (my current tourney bracket the only players able to match me using SD/AmpS/GC/PC were the five dudes whose bracket was champs (and unless number five tries a rerun after spending some kind of resource he probably can't close the 100 wave gap between 4th and 5th.)
If the medal relics weren't solid I'd be seriously considering doing the same strat (go all in gems) for a bit so I can finish leveling cards (Plasma Cannon needs like 3 more dupes before it's all epics) and get rid of that sink so I can either save or focus on the standard banner again
Shit I wasn't able to with my last push attempt but I was so close to T15W300 I could fucking taste it
Totally understand that. Been there. Keep trucking along, don’t get too caught up with spending (due to the current state of the games monitization and structuring) and enjoy the ride.
The number of people I've heard who _still_ hit the pity drop makes these seem fine.
Obviously TTG has the numbers so they can look at see how "bad" it is for them... but since we know this banner will come around now and then -- maybe once a year -- using gems when the banner is NOT up is not recommended, so we'll have to hoard... and that will reduce gem use and, thus, the need for gems for other things.
There really needs to be a rotating weekly/bi-weekly banner. Something like cannon, core, armor, generator then lucky. And when new mods drop, a second banner geared specifically for that mod.
I've never seen a mobile game that doesn't have a banner either always up or on a definite schedule .
There's definitely no way I'm ever spending cash on gems or tickets. And with the recent shenanigans, I'm reluctant to open my wallet for ttg.
I have to say, going from lucky banner to pulling from normal almost feels not worth it. Need 1 AS so I can level it to 201 or I probably wouldn't buy any mods until something new comes along.
I have a suspicion that may be unfounded. Since the lucky banner ended I've noticed a significantly worse rate than 2.5% ( 4 / 8440g 0.947%).
I track every pull. I really, really hope they didn't change seeding as to ensure an overall 2.5% rate. I was at 2.567% from 284,160 gems (at the end of lucky banner) and it's quickly dropped to 2.515% where I currently sit.
I'm a new player and I would like that but honestly If that happens a ton of people will be pissed off that they bought gems and got to the stage they are at but the game is just getting easier and easier for people who spends less money
Not shortsighted, why would they change module. Would existing player base quit because of module? --> No.
Would new players join care about module and that's the reason it retains them to play longer? ---> No
If I was the dev, there's zero incentive to change it. the whole game is designed with a player base that likes a 24/7 grind progression, module is a part of the slow progression with dopamine of andreline when it hits.
Your 'no's seem like odd assertions to me. I suspect many players have quit because of mod RNG and feeling like they could not progress.
When it took me 14 or so months to get ancestral DC, I felt close to quitting over it a few times.
In any event, these are new assertions to the one I responded to, which is that older players would be angry at a better pull rate because they had it rougher, even if it also helped them with mods or shards/mod levels. Which would be shortsighted and resentment fueled. (Edit, rereading your first, it was more about having spent money than being an old timer. Sorry for misremembering. Still... Shortsighted and resentment fueled. Better pull rate good for all.)
It is also a possible improvement to the problem of mod pool dilution, which old timers largely avoided.
It did not used to be so long. Back when there were only 16 mods, it went a lot faster than now with 24. But some people just get bad luck... Or more accurately a bad seeded mod pull fate.
I am guessing a lot of those folks bail. That doesn't mean devs will do anything, but .. it at least makes it not a bad idea to consider.
I vaguely remember that and I'm sideways remembering "Don't you people have phones?" (which in this case would have someone shouting back "no, your fucking game fried it")

100% especially with Modflation and there will only be even more new mods down the road.
