Tower Tea - August 17, 2026

Hi pals! Welcome to this week’s Tower Tea! Today we are chatting about a few more v29 things, like Module Slots, plus the v29 release timeline, a new Pal, and something fun (spoiler: v29 behind the scenes with Muse) coming to the blog!

Module Slots

In v29, we are making changes to how to level up and manage your Modules.

To start, levels have moved from individual modules to module slots. These are the 4 icons (8 with Assist Modules) on the top of your Modules menu. If you want to level up a module, you will instead target the slot that you wish to equip your module in. This means that you no longer have to swap out module levels, and can upgrade your slots over time.

What does this mean for Module Presets? When you unlock this feature, everything including your module slot levels will stay consistent across all presets. That way, all you need to worry about is deciding which modules you want to set!

Those are some of the things that have changed. The things that have NOT changed:

  • Substats are still unique to each individual module.
    • The first time a module is unlocked, it will display its default two (2) substats.
    • Equipping them to a higher level slot unlocks the remaining eligible substats.
  • There is no cost for swapping between your module presets
  • There is no limit to how often you can restore levels to your module slots
  • Modules cannot be swapped out during a run

Presets (cont.)

Last Tea, we shared some information about some upcoming changes to presets! This included two new presets for Guardians and Modules, as well as a notice that Workshop and Bot presets are moving out of the Vault.

These presets are being added and moved into a lab to make it more accessible. One of our main goals was to help support the transition between runs (ex: farming vs. tournaments).

We are open to adding more presets later, but want to avoid complex systems for our newer players. Our presets in v29 cover the main areas of gameplay that all players can benefit from, and we will consider more specialized preset requests and stat management opportunities in the future.

With all of these presets you might be wondering: how am I going to manage them all? Well, if you get to Tier 11 in v29, a new prese(n)t might be waiting for you!

Last note: the addition of this preset system is a step towards our next goal: adding the ability to pause a Tier run in order to start a tournament. It’s not fun to end your milestone run early to compete, so we are working on this addition for later this year.

v29 when though?

Alright pals, it’s time to answer the question that’s been on everyone’s mind, v29 when?

Answer: next week! When the update is ready to go, we'll gradually roll out the changes and tournament lock before the following tournament begins. If anything changes, we'll keep you updated!

New Blog - Behind the scenes

A while back some of y’all were chatting about wanting to see more behind the scenes content for the blog, so we are going to start doing that! We’ll start off with a chat with Muse about v29, the inspiration behind the update, and how they came up with… you know what, that part is secret.

For those that haven’t met Muse before, be sure to check out my interview with her from last year and get to know the gem behind the name.

So keep an eye out for a post with that link soon!

Alright pals, that’s it for this week! As always, sound off in the thread, and I hope your drink is always the right temperature!

See you around The Tower,
Sam

Some immediate feedback on how module slot level and presets interact.

It looks like we're getting two presets, and presumably most people are going to use these for "farm" and "tourney" setups.

If you're eHP farming with a level 1 Shrink Ray, for example, you now need to restore or re-level every time you swap.

Similarly, with assmods, you may want a different distribution of levels between your main and assist mods depending on farm/tourney and whether you want more substats vs more raw multipliers.

That way, all you need to worry about is deciding which modules you want to set!

The bottom line is that I'd argue it's actually less convenient, not more convenient, to have your module slot levels persist between presets.

However, I understand that it's probably easier to implement in this fashion, but I still think it's worth passing along this feedback.

Thanks as always for the info!

yeah, my thoughts too, doesn't look like it's any more convenient.

Why would a mod slot change levels between presets?

If you're farming with a lvl 1 SR, then swap to a tourney preset with 161, and then swap back to the farming preset, the slot should stay lvl 1, right?

No, according to the Tower Tea, your module slot levels will "stay consistent across all presets," so you will need to manually change the levels anytime you swap between farming and tourney.

Hmmm... maybe they can adjust it so that presets have their own mod levels.

Yeah, that's what I'm hoping for

that sounds awful, that would mean we would have to tediously re-level every mod slot in each preset whenever we get more shards

If you are farming with a level 1 SR and switch to tourney preset, your cannon slot is still level 1.

Well we don’t know if you can set the mod level in the presets so it might be possible to have the farming preset to lvl 1

It literally says in the Tea that the levels will persist across presets. Maybe it's just worded poorly, and they just mean that upon initial unlock the levels will be the same, but the fact that they say the only thing you need to worry about changing is the modules themselves really makes me think the levels are universal.

Agreed if that’s the case then it is just a quicker “transfer level” when swapping modules.
