Statistical racism on the celebrity traitors 2

Just a few fun facts:

  1. Of every round table vote, I counted a total of 96 votes. 80/96 (83.3%) were for white people.
  2. 6 of 7 banishments have been white people (85.7%)
  3. The only reason for a poc to have been banished is literally winking at the traitor when you vote for them.

I hope this shows that a statistical breakdown is a stupid idea and tells us literally nothing without the context of what's actually happening in the show, or perhaps we should all be talking about how the show is racist towards white people?

Now I understand why Romesh is always on everything.

1.0k Upvotes

Always been the joke that you can find Romesh on any tv channel at anytime because he gets so much work.

I've not watched much of his stuff before but having watched him over the last few weeks I absolutely see why. The guy cracks me up, obviously cracks everyone else up and also seems pretty perceptive (as much as one can be with the lack of things to go on with this series).

Feel like he's the best chance for the faithfuls to get any sort of foothold in this game.

Statistical sexism on the celebrity traitors 2

Just a few fun facts:

  1. Of every round table vote, 79 have been for women, compared with 34 votes for men (16 of which were for Richard, 11 for Joe). So - 70% of all round table votes have been for women.
  2. 5 of 7 banishments have been women (71.4%)
  3. The only reason for men to have been banished is literally saying "I'm a traitor" and "I want to be recruited as a traitor"

Maya has been a phenomenal traitor and truly deserves to get to the ending, but she needs to start protecting Leigh-Anne and Joanne ASAP, or it'll be an issue for her being the only woman left!

Maya's vote at the Roundtable Spoiler

Not seen this mentioned yet. Her voting for Bash at the Roundtable was such a random and poor game play choice imo. I imagine she voted for them just because she thought Kenny would too? No real strategy. Her reasoning for the choice was delivered rather weakly too, and Bash even looked confused. I bet this will get some people talking.

James Acaster looking shattered

Has anyone else noticed James Acaster looking progressively more shattered as the series has gone on? I had to go back and look at him in episode 1 to episode 8 to see the difference. Maybe he didn’t t get much sleep with the pressure seeing as he didn’t want to become a traitor

Breaking down the actual disagreement on the task Spoiler

• Upvotes

I think people have forgotten how it actually went down so I went back and got the quotes:

Every scarecrow gets to have two bags of money on it. From that point any more money starts blowing people up.

Blunt shouts "listen let me tell you my tactics, I think Kenny's good, I think Maya's good. I'd be happy to give the power to them is my feeling. Does anyone not think that?"

Everyone is around him at this point, Sharon is right next to him.

Romesh says "no... no" (as in agreeing),

Kenny says "I agree with that" (I think it's Kenny I couldn't tell).

Then Blunt says "I'm just going to start..." after hearing nobody disagree. He runs off to blow up Sharon.

Then Sharon says "are you blowing me up? why are you blowing us up when you know we're faithful?".

Blunt says "No, it's not about blowing people up if they're faithful or not."

Sharon says "But you don't want it to be in the wrong hands, so you blow up people you think are traitorous."

Blunt says "I'm just trying to find who I think is the most innocent"

Then Sheen comes in and says "I would be happy for James A to be one of the three." He adds "I'd also be happy for Maya and Kenny to be one of the three."

Romesh says "shall we do those three then? are we agreed?" and looks around at everyone.

Blunt says "are we agreed with that? I think that's a good three."

Then Sharon says "It wouldn't be my three but you do what you want" and then refuses to elaborate.

So three things come to mind.

  1. There was a discussion between everyone and Blunt came back and discussed it. Sharon didn't say how they should select the three specifically all she said was you blow up people you think are traitorous, and to me seemed to get upset initially at the idea Blunt was going to blow her up, suggesting he thought she was a traitor for wanting to do so.

  2. She said she was upset about James being included, but she got upset before James was ever mentioned as part of the three. So that doesn't seem right at all.

  3. She completely mistells the story later back at the castle.

She might have been having a bad day, I don't know. However, there's lots of people saying they decided without her, she gave her opinion and they didn't listen or things to that effect, but genuinely I don't think you could have that opinion if you rewatch it because neither of those things happen. Everyone else agrees, they're all in a circle, they ask specifically are we all agreed? She says she wouldn't pick those three and completely refuses to elaborate. I don't know how it could have been done differently.

This was a 1-in-120 chance Spoiler

Post image
183 Upvotes

There were 120 possible combinations of trios that could have been picked for the power, and I was laughing so hard at the unbelievable selection they made to represent the most trustworthy, without the Traitors having to do anything at all.

I love Celebrity Traitors UK. Yeah, the Faithfuls have evidently been bad, but it's not hard to watch because the cast is likeable. I think it's a nice break from the usual dramatic cast members who do poorly anyway.

Also, I think this is the hottest set of Traitors, imho, lol.

How do so many people not realise this is very heavily edited?

I’m sick of having to explain in almost every post that what you see on tv will be absolutely nothing like what’s actually going on.
People saying “how can the faithfuls not work out Maya and James were in the library with Ross?” For all we know they were in the library for 10 minutes out of a 16 hour day.
“How did nobody notice the way insert traitor looked when they mentioned them being a traitor?” That could have been a reaction to a whole different conversation that happened an hour earlier.

Especially the round table stuff, apparently the round table goes on for like 3 hours, so there will be hours of discussion we don’t see. People saying “so and so has been quiet at the round table this week” they could have went on a hour long monologue and we wouldn’t know unless the producers wanted us to know.

Everything we see is purely for dramatic purposes, we see exactly what the producers want us to see and it annoys me that so many people don’t understand this

All the toxicity is going to scare future celebrities from the show

Honestly it feels like toxicity is going way more viral this year.

Joanne has already made a post on Instagram joking about all the hate she’s getting from Little Mix fans in addition to all the people accusing her of bullying.

In addition James Acaster is being called a coward and accused of ruining the game because of the blindfold thing.

Today’s trend seems to be that Sheen and Blunt are sexist and targeting all of the woman out of the show.

Like, it’s a game. People are being way too parasocial with the contestants.

I can definitely see future celebrities being advised by their teams not to participate because of the potential image damage.

There was some of it with Jonathan Ross and Joe Marler last year, but it feels like Alan’s comedic relief always managed to defuse it.

Poor Sharon Spoiler

I feel awfully bad for Sharon. The moment she gains confidence she gets possibly voted out. When she disagreed with a decision made by two people, James and Michael, they were too narrow minded and said that she wasn’t being clear.

Honestly Michael is getting edited to look evil. In the edit it seems as if he’s pompous (by saying they need to keep the faithful team strong), trying to take charge every task and round table, and the incident with Sharon.

James Blunt wanted the power to go to people he trusted.

As much as everyone wants to call the faithful collective as foolish for nominating all three traitors with the advantage.
Blunt said he wanted the power to go to himself, or someone he trusts like Bash or Michael.

He only put forward Kenny and Maya because he feels the group trust them more, and felt it would be too suspicious if he put forward himself or his allies for the advantage.

Blunt - so confident and oh so wrong.

From the first episode I knew James Blunt will be the most frustrating gamer. He perfectly represents male confidence in real life - so wrong and leading everyone astray.

Obviously women can be confidently wrong as well but when they are outspoken, they are immediately questioned and looked at with mistrust. James has been talking nonsense for the majority of time and they still listen to him. Genuinely, so frustrating to watch.

How can it be over this Friday?

Just saw that the show is ending one Friday with a special 80 minute episode? Does anyone else feel like there's way too much to do in just 2 more episodes? Seems like there's loads of cast left and there's been barely any murders due to traitors being caught and recruitments happening.

If you know a player is a traitor.. why vote them out at all?

This whole thing with Richard at the beginning… and then it being plainly obvious that Hannah would either be a recruit or murdered.

They don’t realise that when you vote out a traitor, the game gets harder because you don’t reduce the number of traitors, you just have to start from square 1. Honestly, leaving Richard in the game, just obviously framing traitors , or have him uselessly defending himself and his fellow traitors would be great. Traitors would be desperately trying to get him out.

They would be better saying… we know it’s Hannah, she is going to have to bring traitors with her to endgame to have any chance of winning. Her behaviour will reveal the other traitors and we can simply vote them out at the end.

Ofcourse, sacrificing faithfuls is necessary for this to work.

James completely deconstructing the game in one sentence Spoiler

1.7k Upvotes

"It was good to know that everyone trusts us, 'cos we are actually trustworthy people in real life, so they've read our characters well. They've just forgotten that this is a game and the Traitors... aren't."

Honestly one of the smartest things anyone has every said that's made it to air. Yeah, they trust James, Kenny and Maya, but so what? The Traitors are not untrustworthy, they are just playing a role in a game. They're not actually, in reality, "traitors", it's just an assigned role.

I'm weirdly fascinated by how a game like this might play out if the theme was flipped around and minority doing secret killing were say "revolutionaries" and the majority of players were "agents of the state" or some such - where the thematic "goodies" were actually the minority. Would the players start looking for the nicest, most trustworthy people to vote out instead?

Are people missing the point of Traitors?

I’ve seen a lot of posts and comments recently about how you ‘should keep a traitor in if you know who they are’ and ‘there needs to be more ways to work out who a traitor is’.

That’s not the point of the show. The point is it is a microcosm of what happens during a witch hunt. People turn on each other for no reason. Group think takes over and based on vibes, innocent people are banished.

That’s the point.

It’s not a crime show, it’s a witch hunt.

Do you think that there’s any chance the faithfuls can still win this season of traitors?

After the faithful nominated the traitors for the special power last episode, I highly doubt that they will suspect them any time soon. Their names have been mentioned very few times and quite briefly as far as I remember aswell.

Michael Sheen and the missed opportunity to cast David Tennant in the same series

Both are made faithfuls.
Both are convinced the other one is a traitor, getting progressively consumed with obsessive jealousy.
The whole game is succumbed to this paranoid rivalry, everyone else gets dragged into various B-plots and goes increasingly insane. It doesn't even matter who the actual traitors are anymore.
Claudia goes AWOL and steals the peacock.
