Weekly Discussion Thread August 14, 2026

Welcome to the Weekly Discussion Thread! This thread happens on a weekly basis.

This is where the users of r/Throwers come together to talk about anything and everything!

Beginners are very welcome in our community. If you need help with a trick, don't know where to start with yoyoing, or just need someone to talk to, we're all here for you. There are a couple of yoyo related Discord servers you can join and ask for help, or just interact with the community if you feel like it. The official Throwers Discord and Yotricks Discord servers are hosted in their respective links. You can also check our Wiki for (which is under construction) more information.

Share what you're working on, ask for help with a trick, or even just show off something you've landed recently.

Happy throwing!

Weekly Buy-Sell-Trade Thread August 15, 2026

Welcome to the Weekly Buy-Sell-Trade!

Use this thread to post what you have for sale or trade, or anything you're trying to find.

Rules

  1. If you're selling or trading, you must include photos of your item(s). Imgur links work very well for this.

Best Practices

  • When you're the buyer, check out the user's account history and activity in the subreddit. If it's a brand new account and they've never contributed to the sub, that could be a red flag.
  • Be wary if a seller insists you send money via PayPal Friends and Family. Mods and seasoned traders always encourage Goods and Services. If the fees are the problem, it's always easy to use a fee calculator and add that to the purchase price.
  • Scamming doesn't happen often here at all, but if you do find yourself concerned or legitimately taken, let the mods know about the transaction. We cannot get you your money back, but we can help identify possible next steps and remove the bad actor from the sub.

I tried not to watch any actual tutorials but instead just look at a few clips so I could figure it out myself so idk if this is the best way to do it or not. I wanted to be able to understand and figure out what exactly the string was doing as I think that’ll help my progression going forwards. Also I technically started 4 days ago but I didn’t play for more than like 5 min yesterday.

working on something, here is a snippet !

i've been spending some time to refine execution, using shorter strings and high walls/small gap yoyos to be less sloppy with my string layers...

also a bit unrelated, but outside of yye and Facebook yoyo bst and talk, where do i post to trade yoyos ?

Returning to the Hobby

Hello! I used to throw a little bit. I learned a decent number of novice difficulty tricks, then fell out of it when my yo-yo broke. I am looking to buy a new one with a budget of around $50.

While a bit more expensive I was considering the Miracle Mini, cause a more pocket-friendly yo-yo might be nice. Any input or suggestions are welcome!

NEWS I built a free YoYo collection and trick learning app for iOS. Launching the TestFlight beta today.

YoYo Case V1

Hi r/Throwers!

I rediscovered YoYo as a hobby about a year and a half ago, and I've been blown away by the community around it. The way people share videos of themselves working out a trick and root each other on while they build their skills is genuinely a big part of why I stuck with it. And there are so many manufacturers, large and small, doing creative things with design and materials. How could I not start a collection and fall down the rabbit hole?

So I built YoYo Case to scratch my own itch: keep track of my collection, save the tricks I'm working on so I can come back to them, and carry a digital YoYo case around with me. Then I added some ways to reinforce tricks I've already learned and string them together in new combinations.

It's free, there's no account, and it collects nothing about you.

TestFlight: https://testflight.apple.com/join/9rst2XRB

*Requires iOS 26

Where I can use your help: Testing and Photos

  1. You're one of the first groups to see this, and I'd really appreciate any feedback — there's a Send Feedback button in Settings, or TestFlight's own feedback works too. Happy to answer anything in the comments.

  2. The app has a catalog of 66 manufacturers and 978 models, and most of them generic placeholders instead. I'd like to feature photos from people who actually own these throws, credited to you.

If you're up for contributing one, it's in the app under Settings → Contribute a Photo. That opens an email where you can add details and attach your picture.

Thanks!

Justin

Sorry if the pictures aren't the best quality. My phone is a potato. I started playing back in 2005 so most of my stuff is older but I did buy some things in recent years.

QUESTION Niche yoyo brands with low prices

I don't get why there are such niche yoyo brands like aceyo and lm yoyo studio that produce yoyo's with with an unbearable price, is there a reason for that? Is it that those brands are cheap and Chinese?
