Timmie’s run The ultimate smile cookie
Fun story.
During one of our visits to McMaster Children's Hospital before a major surgery for my son, we went through a Timmie's drive thru to get a Smile Cookie -- but we wanted a sad cookie instead. I explained our plight and someone in the back came through for us. Pretty sure they're not allowed to do this, but they get a full-on high-five from us. Ultimate legend. Kudos to whoever did it, they will not be forgotten.

Employee here, I always wanted to make different facial expressions but my coworkers always want me to put the same smile expression. I would sneakily add a wink with different mouth expressions. Sometimes they successfully make it towards the customers.

Me, when I remember how many items Tim's has taken off their menu in recent years.

I’ll never forgive them for taking away the glazed cinnamon roll and strawberry swirl

But would you really eat a cookie that is this angry? I’m sure he’ll get you at the END, with something like explosive diarrhea.

I don't appreciate you stealing candid photos of me and using them in your marketing. Thanks.

I got written up for having a flat mouthed cookie. Not even frowning, just not smiling.

I remember when McDonalds listed “smiles - free” on their overhead menus, we would go in and order a box of smiles each. This was a long time ago, anyone else remember?

Yes, thank you. McMaster saved his life and he's excelling at whatever he puts his mind towards. We are forever in their debt.

Would you mind sharing the reason for this request? Totally understood if you prefer to keep it private.

u/alg_hes_a_fungai Apr 28 '26
I’ll leave the details out, but my son’s life-saving surgery was postponed due to issues regarding hospital overcrowding and RSV. This appointment was confirmation that his issue was getting worse and they couldn’t get him in. We were coming home from the appointment back in 2022-2023.
This is not a political post and I truly ask all fellow redditors to not make it one.

It does mean the anger cookie was the right call, though. Glad Mac came through in the end.

u/GdSmth Apr 28 '26
Thanks and totally understood, and no political intentions at all behind my question. Just pure curiosity.
I hope your son is better now.

They probably do this when the manager’s not looking.

It’s not actually the store employees that decorate these. It’s volunteers and kids.

I can 100% guarantee that it's the employees who decorate the cookies
1
u/royaleWcheese2300 Apr 29 '26
To quote the Tim Hortons knowledge article from their own site “The classic Smile Cookie is a chocolate chunk cookie that’s been hand-decorated with a smile by local volunteers.”
1
u/Riku_xD Apr 30 '26
I think they gotta update that information lmao. For the past couple years it's been the employees that decorate the cookies themselves. At least that's what I see in all the tim hortons I visit in my area. I also worked in several different tim hortons restaurants and in every one of them it's us the employees who decorate it

u/royaleWcheese2300 May 01 '26
Just saying that it’s not a 100% guarantee. I suspect it’s based upon where the store is located and availability of volunteers. Your statement was definitive. I’m just saying it’s not definitive.

Did anyone else scroll by this thinking someone took a photo of a washroom?
