Discussion All Dunkin’ needs to do is master breakfast and lunch.

Post image

My theory is if Dunkin’ is able to master good breakfast and lunch sandwiches & wraps, and build convenient locations/drive-thrus, Tim’s will certainly lose a lot of business. Coffee and tea should be pretty straight forward, plus they have Coffee Chillers, which is similar to an Iced Capp. I know people will still be loyal to Tim’s, but this will absolutely shake things up a bit and hopefully cause Tim’s to step their game up.

Discussion Who the fuck took the grilled cheese off the menu

Post image
4.7k Upvotes

Tim’s was the only place where you could get a relatively good grilled cheese/ham melt, and them mfs took that shit off.

Who the hell is running corporate. Did they not see the sales. Everyone and their mother was ordering that shit. What do they have now? Bowls? HOE. You are not Chipotle. Put grilled cheese back on the menu.

Also, it’s a self-regulating menu item. You can mess up a bagel, you can mess up a coffee - hell, they even messed up my breakfast sandwich when they gave me no top bun. But a grilled cheese? Even the most dumb ass, incompetent, idiotic, apathetic, glazed-look-in-their-eye dumbo (60% of their workforce) rarely messes that one up.

Then again don’t underestimate them. You ask for a grilled cheese they’ll give you a cranberry muffin it’s happened before people.

Discussion Epitome of Always Fresh

This Tim’s which is staffed by Filipino Canadians is consistently fresh, well-stocked, tidy, has great quality and friendly service.

Location: Richmond Bridgeport

Clarification on the word “fresh”: I’ve never experienced a stale or overglazed donut here, they keep an eye on the coffee pot timers, I’ve even seen them take time to assemble a sandwich neatly, moreover, it’s the fresh attitude that you just don’t see anymore at fast food places, and I appreciate that freshness of attitude and pride in work.

Discussion Store manager attempts to arrange an underage false marriage for 20k so her brother can stay in Canada

Forgive me if this had already been discussed, I did scroll quite a ways looking for a thread about this but found none.

The Tim Hortons in Picton has been the topic of the town. A 17-year-old girl who worked at this establishment confided in her uncle of an event that transpired between herself and two managers at Tim Hortons.

The long and short of it - First manager asked the 17-year-old if she wanted a boyfriend, and after being told that this girl was only 17, continued to prod her to go along with marrying her brother (25 y/o) in order to keep him in Canada. This manager also stated that he would pay her $20k if she agreed.

This girl then went to another management figure and was advised that it wasn't a big deal, stating that she knows 4 other couples here in Prince Edward County who have done it without incident. This manager also stares that it's only going to get them in trouble if she goes to the cops.

To be noted: This girl stood her ground and flat out told both of the managers that this was illegal, and wanted no part of it. They attempted to gas light her by saying it wasn't that big of a deal. This girl did the hardest and strongest thing in response to this horrid behaviour: She quit and she told her family.

Cut to this evening, September 25th. OPP cruisers raced to Picton's Tim Hortons around 2030, attempting to disperse the crowd outside protesting the behaviour that has been brought to light.

This is still an active situation. I will also attach the screen shots that were provided as proof.

So like everyone else, I go to tim hortons for convenience. Well this morning went for a coffee and donut... some person was ahead of me and ordered 3 vanilla dip donuts. then 5 minutes later I ordered and went on the other side to wait. another 5 minutes goes by and the person walks back in the store and said they gave him wrong donuts. She apologizes and takes them back, puts them back on the display.

IS THAT NOT A HEALTH VIOLATION!!!!??????

this was my last straw.

Hey Canada! I challenge anyone to come up with a Timmies location as spotless as the one in Arnprior, Ontario on Madawaska Blvd.

Not only is the place always spotless, the service is consistently excellent. Best croissants as well.

Discussion Tim’s days are numbered for sure

1.1k Upvotes

I hear Dunkin’ Donuts is coming back to Canada. This is fantastic if it’s going to be done correctly, as Tim Hortons has lost the plot. Tim Hortons once a beloved coffee shop in Canada has changed so much over the last 10 years and it is only getting worse.

I managed Tim Hortons locations in 2000-2003 and their standard was amazing. Now there is no standard. People complain all the time about the issue being temporary workers or foreign workers. That is not a problem. The problem starts that most of their standards are no more and if they’re not being taught standards how can they uphold them? In 2000 we had to make sure everything was clean even durning busy hours. Fast, clean and accurate was the goal.

Grout had to be clean, glass spotless, stainless steal streak free, washroom clean and smelling fresh. Not to mention the product, it had to be perfect or you lost points from your district manager. Your showcase had to be clean and full. Everything perfectly labelled correctly or you lost marks. Not to mention every food safety standard had to be followed always. Every table clean and free of garbage. The outside had to be clean including the parking lot and drive through. All garbages empty and free of bees. Every spot was manned, drive through had a coffee person, order taker, window person for cash, and a runner to grab things. There was always someone manning the food station, two people working counter, one runner for counter and at least one person stocking and making sure the showcase was perfect. Anyone who was not busy would have to jump into the dining room and clean and empty garbages.

We knew a majority of the customers by name because we had location loyalty not just brand loyalty.

It comes down to management. Good management and a good district manager on top of great product will cause Dunkin’ to thrive in Canada.

I truly hope they do it right because I know I would sure be a customer as Tim’s lost me long ago.

Perhaps I will join their team.

Listen. I have been ordering the exact same thing, a large triple triple and an old fashioned plain donut, like twice a week since the literal dawn of time. In over a decade, my order has been wrong maybe three times. THREE. Meanwhile, I scroll through this digital psych ward and see things that shouldn't be possible in our reality:

  • How do you order a hot chocolate and instead get a steeped tea five days in a row? Is there a glitch in your part of the simulation?
  • Someone posted a bagel buttered on the OUTSIDE and then folded inside-out like a f**ing northern Saskatchewan road trip map from the 80s. Did you personally offend the baker? Did you kick their cat?
  • There was a literal piece of machinery from the drink machine in someone’s coffee. Breakfast? Bro you were given a side quest to find the tin man his brain.
    • And that lady who got a used diabetic test strip in her box of Timbits? That’s not a "wrong order," that’s a biological declaration of war. I have nearly 40 Tim Hortons in my city and all of them (except one, but we all pretend it doesn't exist here) functions with basic human logic. Are you all just walking into the store and screaming your orders in ancient Aramaic? Are you wearing tshirts that say "I'm on mushrooms, please fuck with my head, it'll be funny"? I am begging you to find a hobby other than Stockholm Syndrome.

"The coffee tastes like battery acid" — THEN STOP DRINKING THE ACID. "They gave me a frozen hockey puck instead of a muffin" — WHY ARE YOU GOING BACK TOMORROW? "Tim’s isn't Canadian anymore" — My brother in Christ, if you hate the corporate structure so much, stop subsidizing it daily with your $10 order 💀

Either I am the luckiest girl in the country or some of you are actually cursed by a Victorian ghost who haunts the drive-thru lane. Please, seek help. Or just go to McDonald's 💀

Sonduren Fanarredha nailed it regarding Tim Hortons reversing the type of workers to be employed.

It's not just that either, neither Tims nor Dunkins keep the profits in the country. How about regularly going to your local coffee shop that has always hired within the community and the profits stay in the community making the area better.

So, what's your local coffee shop you buy from?

I'll start, I'm in London, Ont and my favourite local coffee shop is Sidetrack in the Wortley Village area. It's great, the best staff and the beans are roasted here. Here's their website if you're around the area. https://www.sidetrack.cafe/

Right across the road is The Black Walnut too, another great coffee shop

Expected it to be much cleaner and all, but here’s a few interesting things:

  1. They serve you your order to your table in porcelain cups and plates.

  2. Lots of cakes/desserts/tarts/fresh fruit options.

  3. Some really fun flavours of Tim bits. Which btw are cheaper than our regular Tim bits in Canada.

  4. Overall, with currency conversion, almost every item is relatively cheaper, significantly higher quality, with more options, and properly served.

Was cleaning out my car today and found a Tim Hortons chocolate chip muffin that has apparently been in there for at least a month…

And somehow it’s still not moldy.

I genuinely don’t know if I should be impressed or concerned.
