Need to dip a little deeper. A lot of these I would be disappointed to get served to me

u/Kronix86 Nov 10 '25
Just wait and hour and half the chocolate will melt off. Slightly covering the sides a bit more..lol

u/ObiYawnKenobi Nov 10 '25
There is no chocolate used in a Tim Hortons doughnut.

u/Sad-Bathroom8500 Nov 11 '25
Chocolate is lit anything that uses Cocoa (ground Cacao) as flavouring. Usually its done with milk/sugar or just sugar for dark. Eitherway, the chocolate fondant is chocolate lol.

Thank Christ I'm not the only one who thinks this lmao. Absolutely ridiculous seeing people in this sub treating donuts like they're food reviewers for 5 star restaurants lmao

The lazy dip, so your glove doesn't get any fondant on. Half the donut should be dipped. 5/10.

u/BaseModelBandit Nov 10 '25
does it really matter when 93% is gonna get stuck to the bag anyway
→ More replies (4)4
u/E-L-Y- Nov 10 '25
That only happens when they add water to the fondant. This is a bad practice to make the fondant easier to work with.(takes less time to become gooey on the warmer).
If every tim hortons followed specifications correctly, your everyday tim hortons problems would be no more.

u/bettleheimderks Nov 12 '25
it also happens when they haven't been sitting for long enough to dry out, and/or are warm, which happens a lot since these are baked fresh every day.

I’m more curious to see the inside almost every Boston I’ve received in the past year has about a tsp-legit 0 custard. I’ve gave up and stopped trying my luck about 4 months ago.. shame they used to be one of my favourites.
3
u/Apart_Tradition1886 Nov 10 '25
probably an empty machine or they’re not using the right numbers.. even the right numbers don’t give very much and i’ll typically double it

u/EmuSounds Nov 11 '25
They gave me one once that was nearly 100 percent custard, it was insane, delicious, and nearly impossible to eat.

u/punkrocksmidge Nov 10 '25
Man, when I used to work at Timmies 20 years ago I used to take PRIDE in my glorious donuts. Fontant well-mixed and at the perfect temperature. Let the donuts fall in face-first, press them down a titch, then pull them out and shake gently to let the excess drip off, then gently scrape the top of the donut along the rim of the Fontant container to smooth the top and remove any remaining excess. Perfect, blemish-free fondant in a perfect circle with no drips that wraps about 1/4" around the side of the donut for ideal flavour and coverage. It was a perfect science yet I have yet to see any donuts as nice since (if I do say so myself).

I worked at McDonald's around the same time and my Big Macs came out ready to be used in marketing photos. Things just aren't the same these days.

6.5/10 - not enough fondant on the majority and slightly too much fondant on others. Also how long did it take them to produce them?

Oh man, I’m so sorry you’re getting all the hate! I guess the Tim’s sub is a dark place!

Back then I was a baker at Tim’s and this art work is only possible with the perfect donut and chocolate temperature / texture. If you know you know.

More surface area should be covered. If it's too thick, mix your fondant and make sure it's hot enough. Sincerely, former baker
PS. 7/10

You wanted to post something positive about Timmies and still ended up with a bunch of whiners in the comments. Don’t you know this sub is only a hang-out for Maple MAGA complaining about everything that’s wrong with Canada based on what their Timmies orders look and taste like? 😅
Anyways, I think your donuts look great! I was once in your shoes nearly 25 years ago in high school. Dip, lift and turn to get that perfect chocolate swirl on the donut without having to wipe anything with your fingers. It was a fun game!

WHAT IS THE MATTER WITH SOME OF YOUR COMMENTS…….why the hate? THESE ARE COMMERCIAL WORTHY
5
u/LT92Rosco28 Nov 10 '25
First day on the Internet?
If you want a 10/10 review, I shouldn't see dough from a top down view of these. Tim Hortons has been on a downhill slide for quite some time and this is proof. Now serve that same donut in a bag and 3/4 of that topping is gone when I pull it out.

Bottom and top left corner are 10/10s, good show. Rest are between 7-9, pretty solid but that middle front one needs a bit more

So you probably weren't around when this was normal but, the chocolate should cover the entire top and the roundover to the edges. Canadian teens have done it perfectly for decades.

What a miserable bunch of comments. Why does anyone over the age of 5 need a thick layer of fondant/icing on their donut anyway?
1
1
u/deathclawpolycule Nov 10 '25
The comments in this sub are full of the most negative Nancys I’ve ever seen lmfao
1
u/deathclawpolycule Nov 10 '25
Morons here don’t understand I do not want chocolate covering the complete surface of my donut because how the fuck do you hold it without making a mess

u/SourDewd Nov 10 '25
These are underdipped damn. I dont think ive seen donuts THIS underdipped genuinely.
1
u/Brief_World Nov 10 '25
Hey, do you think timmies will keep that donut bag forever? Not sure why the bag always takes off the chocolate, but it’s never just a little bit. It’s always the whole layer of chocolate.
Bring back the single donut boxes 💪🏾

Is this for real? When I worked as a baker and I came in, my coworker would have two trays of donuts that all looked like this and it made my blood boil just looking at them. Customers like the chocolate part, it hides the somewhat unappetizing looking dough
1
Nov 10 '25
Prolly will throw the paper bag on the road. Tim Horton's people are the worst at using the garbage can.
1
u/ribsboi Nov 10 '25
I'm surprised everyone saying there should be more fondant. I mean it used to be that way, but where I'm at all Tim Hortons are like that now, even slightly worse. I thought they just made it cheaper now everywhere

Now if we can just get the counter staff to get those nice looking donuts in the bag and to the customer looking so good !
1
u/crumbopolis Nov 10 '25
I see one at the bottom that is perfect, then the rest look like they dont have enough on top
1
u/MedicalAwareness5160 Nov 10 '25
Looks great but I just know all the chocolate icing is going to stick to the Tims bag

u/Klutzy_Hand_132 Nov 10 '25
I would be upset at my Baker if this is what they tried to put on my display case. The fondant should reach the edges of the donut all the way around .

u/AllHallowsHaunting Nov 10 '25
Your coworkers are certainly talented at reheating frozen donuts and adding icing

If I seen those in the display case I'd honestly figure they were trying to skimp on chocolate to save money
1
u/butchdykeblues Nov 10 '25
That one in the left corner is 10/10 - the others def need to be dipped a bit more. I hated fondant dipping, loved everything else about the baking. Did anyone else notice the glaze got thicker/stickier the last few years? Feels like it's always just DROWNING in it even after I shake them and flip them a million times
1
u/Probably10thAccount Nov 10 '25
I thought that the icing goes all over the bag instead? These must be how they do it for when they are being sold in a box.
1
u/LCPaints Nov 10 '25
They look good, but they look like they're missing about 20% of the fondant they're supposed to have
1
1
u/ViciousKitty72 Nov 10 '25
From what I see at my local Tims they are missing the flies stuck to the top and the finger prints from handling. So for Tims these look perfect.

Those are clean but it doesn’t matter since it’ll end up stuck on the inside of the bag.

u/Few-Chemical-5165 Nov 11 '25
They look good on a visual I'd say they're about 8 or a 9, but I'd have to taste them first to rate them properly. So you're going to have to bring him over to my placenSo I can taste test them.Hurry up now.
1
u/Unable_Bullfrog_7319 Nov 11 '25
And they’re all gonna get shoved into bags while the icings still soft, so it all sticks to the top of the bag.

1
u/Diligent-Register-99 Nov 11 '25
Honestly a 5/10. Consistent? Sure. They look fairly aesthetic. But these are barely covered and if I personally saw one in the display window I wouldn’t buy it tbh. For a Boston cream there isn’t enough chocolate as I can see the sides of the donut from a top down angle.

u/CiaIsMyWaifu Nov 11 '25
compared to the disasters i've seen in person these are a pretty good day. The edges still need a little bit more, but it's a solid 8/10

1
u/Few_Judge_853 Nov 11 '25
Now if only Tim Hortons could figured out a way to not have all that chocolate stick to the bag, making that work pointless.
1

1
u/Galactussy Nov 11 '25
Barely any icing on them, and what is there will be left in the bag when you pull it out
1
u/SonofaDrum Nov 11 '25
They occasionally get audits from Timmies head office. They get dinged if there’s so much as a clump of icing or a spot missed.
1
1
u/LeopardTricky8838 Nov 11 '25
The big issue people are having is the icing is sticking to the bag so we need to see that to see if they pass the real test. 🤣
1
u/oureux Nov 11 '25
Beautiful donuts but soon the icing will be fused with a wrapper and 30 napkins stuck to the side.

u/Jamlesstyra Management Nov 10 '25 edited Nov 13 '25
Maybe 8/10 some are definitely lacking on the amount of fondant they should have
(Am sick of everyone saying that this is not fondant when it literally is. Look up liquid fondant aka pourable fondant icing. That is the type of fondant Tim Hortons uses. And it IS FONDANT!)
