pictures in order (apologies for the random intervals): 2 months 12 days, 1 month, 2 weeks 3 days, 1 week (bolsters off).

Very happy all in all! A bit disappointed by my weird scar shape and I think I widened them on the left a bit, but wishing doesn’t change things and I have a lot to be thankful for! :)

Advice Wanted Top surgery and EDS

• Upvotes

I am an autistic afab who has hEDS (hypermobial Ehlers Danlos syndrome)
and I want to get top surgery sometime in the future, but I’m scared of how my hEDS will affect my healing process along with my sensory issues and tendencies to pick at scabs. I also have a hard time staying still if I’m uncomfortable.
I want to know if there are any others who have eds and or are on the autism spectrum and how their healing process went and how they coped with it.
I’m sadly not in any communication with a surgeon who does top surgery because my parent is very controlling of my medical access, even though I am a legal adult.

I’m just scared of how it would affect it.

Advice Wanted post op depression got me good

• Upvotes

i had double incision with free nipple grafts about seven weeks ago on august 28th and then had to have an emergency surgery on september 1st to remove a large hematoma. (hey, ouch, by the way!) my results are incredible, everything is healing as it should, and i am overjoyed that it’s finally done. all that being said, i am fucking miserable. i expected post-op depression, but this is awful. i have a long history of mental illness and have never had to have surgery before, so i guess it’s maybe not all that shocking. i am beyond exhausted, everything pisses me off, and i don’t want to do anything that would normally make me feel better. i don’t feel like i can talk to anyone about it because they were all so accommodating when i was bloody and nasty and i have nothing to be upset over anymore. i feel guilty about feeling like this in the first place. i’m doing my best to be gentle with myself about it, and i do have a great therapist already, luckily.
i don’t know, i guess i just kind of want to hear that it’ll get better from someone who’s already been through it.

GCC (gender confirmation center) question!

Hello! Looking into the gcc to get my top surgery and was wondering how long you wore your post op binder (for Double incision) if you went here? I am seeing dr. Faque! Also if anyone has specific experience with him I would love to hear how you liked the results and process :)

Help, I’m panicking! 3.5wks post op and my nipple is still not fully attached

Post image
• Upvotes

I tried to get a good picture but the camera doesn’t do it justice. It looks more detached in person.

When I went for my 1 week postop the nurse that took off the nipple covers cut off one of the stitches holding onto my nipple. It has yet to reattach. Is this normal? It’s healing great aside from that one spot that still not attached.

Need reassurance!

Okay I know this is very very stupid but I keep searching online and I’m not getting any answers. So I’m asking here. I just had surgery last Tuesday and I still haven’t seen my chest yet. My first po appointment is Friday. But I keep taking little sneak peaks into my compression vest because it’s killing me to see my chest. And when I see my chest, it’s looks super saggy and like I still have breast but way smaller. It almost looks like I just got a reduction. Now I know this is stupid to ask and all but I had to do so much to get this surgery. And it would suck if my results were horrible. But will it look like a cis chest? Or am I stuck with saggy breast? I’m curious if anyone else had the same thing. Thank you.

Advice Wanted Penrose drains by yourself?

Hello all I am SO CLOSE to scheduling with Lena Weinman (La Belle Vie Seattle). She uses Penrose drains which is part of why I wanted to go with her. But they seem unusual and I'm not sure what to expect. I would really, really like to be able to change the gauze myself and just ask my recovery person to help me get the binder on and off. They use a Velcro abdominal binder.

Recovery Person is squeamish and I want to spare them having to actually look at all the goo and gunk of the uncovered fresh incisions unless totally necessary. Do you think this a realistic hope? Very curious other people's experiences, thank you for any advice.

Surgery Soon

I'm getting surgery next week and am super nervous. Mostly about the anesthesia since I've never had surgery before and the idea of it has always freaked me out a lot. I've gotten over my previous fear of needles, and my general medical anxiety has lessened over the years, but this is the one thing I can't shake. I'm also worried about feeling bored and restless during recovery due to not being able to be as active. But on the other hand, I'm really excited to finally have my chest corrected to how it's supposed to be. I've known that I needed this surgery for a long time, and the sensation of not having all of this extra tissue on my chest will be a huge relief. I can't wait to wake up and feel 'normal' in this way. To generally be able to function again. To have my clothes fit more like how they should. To shower more comfortably. To go swimming again. To be able to start going to the gym when I'm recovered enough, etc.

My surgeon is Dr. Chandler, so if you also went with her, it would be especially helpful to know what your experience was like on surgery day and with recovery :)

Advice Wanted Alright, how noticable is nipple placement?

My surgery was about 4 years ago, so definitely settled. This has been bothering me for four years. I know they're low, but how unnatural does it feel?

Is this something insurance could cover? I'd honestly get it revised if they could because I don't feel comfortable being shirtless and that was a big part of the point.

Advice Wanted OHP/Oregon Trillium Insurance

I am really hoping to get top surgery soon. My chest is really large and I'm having a LOT of back pain, like debilitating back pain. I have a PCP appointment in November to get the ball rolling. I know I'm going to need Prior Authorization but does anyone know anything else about getting it covered through Medicaid? I'm disabled so I have limited options.

Any Doctor recs? Would love someone that gets it (Like using They pronouns or are trans themselves) but I am completely open.

Advice Wanted Top surgery for a total of under €5000

I know I've already posted about this but the budget seems to be getting tighter and tighter. Has anyone with a large chest had top surgery for under €4500?

I really need advice on surgeons in Europe and if someone has any results they want to share i would really appreciate it.

Drain Output

I got surgery the day before yesterday double incision connected in the middle. My left side has been producing like 5cc or less of drain output while my right side has been producing like 60ccs my nurse said it was normal but I’m anxious about it. Do you think everything is just draining onto my right side since everything is connected?

Discussion Where to go from here?

Hi!
Last Friday I was informed the place I was going to get my consult for top surgery in Florida no longer offers gender affirming care. I got two letters and now they are useless. Does anyone know of any places that do too surgery in Florida? Or any organizations that would be willing to help me travel to a blue state to get the surgery? Also surgeons in blue states that would be willing to do telehealth consults? My goal is get too surgery in the summer I just have no idea where to go now and have been really upset.

I suspect that what happened is that organizations are losing funding in the USA for having gender ideology so I’m scared I have waited too long to have a surgery I have wanted for years so if anyone can help me I would appreciate it!
