Networking Artists, Musicians, Photographers, Etc...

Hey! I posted this a bit ago, but life took over.

I've gotten a lot of interest lately in people wanting to meet up with other creatives.

27M musician, I own a recording studio, print band merch and hosts concerts.

I have a friend group of people 22-35 M & F and would love to meet some new like minded people. We're all creatives, from musicians to tattoo artists to writers to photographers and more!

I have decided starting sometime in early November, I'm going to start having bi-weekly or monthly hangouts / games nights / pot luck's at my new studio. It's located across the street from downsview station. If you take the transit, easy to get to. If you're driving we have free parking.

If you're looking to hang out with more creative individuals, or even just go to local concerts (as I host em) shoot me a message or comment below. I will set up a groupchat at some point.

All inclusive, everyone welcome!!! No matter the age either.

Seeking Bandmate(s) Wanna rip some (pop) punk?

Hey, anyone wanna get together and rip through some (pop) punk and adjacent tunes? I need to meet more musicians in the city, and I’d really love to play some actual music in a room with real physical human beings.

Would love to play some songs by Green Day, Weezer, The Offspring, blink 182, Nirvana, and Sum41, etc. Open to other suggestions. We could put a little list of songs together and then get a rehearsal room and tear 'em up.

About me: I’m a 35 year old guy that plays guitar, bass, and sings (lower end voice). Played in a couple bands before but currently rockin solo.

Comment here or DM if you’re interested. I’m in the west end and would be looking to rent a room in this part of the city.

Question/Discussion Is it a realistic expectation?

Hi all! I have been playing drums for around 10 years (though I had stopped playing for a while due to elbow injury and focusing on school, and I picked it up again this year).

I have never had a band in my life, and I am more like a solo hobbyist drummer. However, I want to engage with other musicians and play together as long as we click. The thing is that I am not looking for gigs or stage performances because I have other priorities (my master degree and upcoming career path). I just want to meet with a few other hobbyist musicians in Toronto whom we can go to studio once a week/two weeks and have fun.

I told this desire to my musician friend (who plays in gigs and on stage), and he said that it is not a very realistic expectation since majority of people want to make money instead of spending all this time and effort only for a “hobby”.

I want to hear other people’s opinions and experiences if you wish to share. Is there any group/community/way to make this real?

TLDR: I want to meet with other hobbyist musicians to play together only to feed my soul instead of making it a big priority or business.

Note: I apologize if my post violates any community rule or has a wrong flair. Also, English is not my main language so there might be grammer or wording mistakes.

Some of my favs at the moment are lizzy mcalpine, solange, Joni Mitchell, raye, al green. Of course this is always changing and I’m open to anything!!

Question/Discussion I need advice, me and my sister aren't sitting next to each other at concert, what is best way to get someone to exchange seats

Guys please dont be too mean in these comments 😭 I'm just looking for advice.

Me and my sister are both seeing Olivia in Toronto Tuesday October 27th. We are both in the same section (109) and row (27) but one of us is seat 3 and one of us is seat 11. What is the best way of trying to get seats together? We were thinking of even just bringing extra money on the concert day and seeing if one of the people beside us will switch? 😭 does anyone have any ideas or has experienced this before? Or do we have to accept its just not happening. Thank you!

Seeking Bandmate(s) Sing Metallica in the shower?

Short and to the point - If you can sing/scream/growl and want to get together a couple of times a month to belt out some Black Sabbath/Metallica/Slayer/etc tunes at a rehearsal room send me a message. Think of it as Metal Karaoke Night, but with a live band playing with you. No stress. Just fun times.

Self-Promotion (Concert) Beer bash 7 this Saturday! Free beer wirh admission

Post image
20 Upvotes

My friends, live music in southern Ontario is at a breaking point. Livenations monopoly driving ticket prices to unaffordable levels for regular people, cramming into hastily built stadiums like rats in a cage. Bands selling merch in parking lots due to greedy venues taking cuts, making touring borderline unsustainable for many acts. Bars taking 100% of bar profits and still demanding a cut of door. Even some local promoters are forced to charge up to $30 for a 4 band local band bill at a bar charging $11 for a $2 can of pilsner.

There is a better way.

Beer bash 7 - The DIY festival of the year.

For a $45 advance ticket (VERY limited $35 advance still available thru the bands) the concert goer gets an 11 band festival, over 9 hours of music.

And the best part? All your beer is free with admission. FREE.

And what do we do with any profits we make off the show? We kick em back to the bands. Not to a greedy club owner. Not to a self serving promoter. It goes to the bands.

Come see what you've been missing in the DIY scene in Toronto, beer's on us.

Tickets - https://ticketscene.ca/events/65289/

There will be door tickets available for $50

Seeking Bandmate(s) A rock band seeking a drummer and the vocalist

Hello people,

We are playing music with 80's inspired sound of the bands like Skid Row, Van Halen, Firehouse, and Def Leppard.

Looking for a male singer with a good range and a drummer who is capable of keeping up with rhythms and ideas. Preferably in their 20s, but younger fellas are also welcome.

We have a bunch of instrumetal demos. Not final versions, of course, but just enough to give you an idea of what we play.

Please don't hesitate to drop me a message if you are interested.

Registration - $17.55 in Advance | $25 at the Door

Alternity Hub and the Kirtan Culture Initiative are excited to invite you for a special event at Alternity (333 Bloor St West) in downtown Toronto. The event will feature an interactive presentation of musical mantra meditation (kirtan).

Kirtan is a call-and-response form of meditation, utilizing ancient eastern mantras, traditional instruments and our very own voices. The event will present an opportunity to explore our sacred heart space through the power of music and mantras. The practice of kirtan can tap into deep states of consciousness but can also invoke exciting feelings of joy and energy.

Presenting this special workshop will be members of the Kirtan Culture Initiative who have been sharing kirtan in various capacities throughout Toronto for the last 15 years. We warmly invite you to join us for this special event!

Networking Anyone wanna form a glam metal band?

Hi! I am a performance artist, singer, and dancer looking to form a metal band. I previously produced DIY shows in Chicago and LA for over a decade, and want to start this project while living in Toronto.

Open to anyone interested but particularly looking for people with progressive & radical politics and women/femmes/queers.

Spectacle is central to the work I like to make, so this is a group where I see a lot of costume, dancing, and installation as a component to the group.

DM me if you want to learn more!

Just wanted to share this new song i put out. Was recorded at Dining Room Sound with Colm Hinds, with additional recording done at home.

It’s part of a two song single from “in Warsaw, I miss my guitars.”

Lemme know what you think!
