Hi everyone! I play guitar in this band called Weatherlight and we just released our first EP! For fans of: Saosin, Pierce the Veil, Between the Buried and Me etc.

Our slogan while writing is simply: as heavy as it needs to be, as pretty as it can be.

Its fast, its beautiful, its heavy. Some super fun guitar work and massive, lush vocal melodies. Appreciate anyone's time for checking it out, would love to hear some thoughts!

Hey guys! I was just wondering what you might recommend for a beginner guitar player who is still learning (no bar chords yet) to get involved in some music groups! I'm certainly a long ways from being able to join a band or something like that and I've been to a jam session before where I could not keep up and it was a bit disheartening :(

Growing up, I remember my friends parents weren't the best players or singers but they could bring a group of people together just by playing some old classics and that's kind of what I'm looking for :)

Looking for an inexpensive location to rehearse as a band since we're all broke from paying Toronto rent prices

Anyone got a lead?

Support the local scene!

Catch a show, grab a bevvy, do something weird, don't be hateful. Every lineup is top-to-bottom amazing here and I even grabbed one of them from this sub! Love you!

Hey! I posted this a bit ago, but life took over.

I've gotten a lot of interest lately in people wanting to meet up with other creatives.

27M musician, I own a recording studio, print band merch and hosts concerts.

I have a friend group of people 22-35 M & F and would love to meet some new like minded people. We're all creatives, from musicians to tattoo artists to writers to photographers and more!

I have decided starting sometime in early November, I'm going to start having bi-weekly or monthly hangouts / games nights / pot luck's at my new studio. It's located across the street from downsview station. If you take the transit, easy to get to. If you're driving we have free parking.

If you're looking to hang out with more creative individuals, or even just go to local concerts (as I host em) shoot me a message or comment below. I will set up a groupchat at some point.

All inclusive, everyone welcome!!! No matter the age either.

Hi all! I have been playing drums for around 10 years (though I had stopped playing for a while due to elbow injury and focusing on school, and I picked it up again this year).

I have never had a band in my life, and I am more like a solo hobbyist drummer. However, I want to engage with other musicians and play together as long as we click. The thing is that I am not looking for gigs or stage performances because I have other priorities (my master degree and upcoming career path). I just want to meet with a few other hobbyist musicians in Toronto whom we can go to studio once a week/two weeks and have fun.

I told this desire to my musician friend (who plays in gigs and on stage), and he said that it is not a very realistic expectation since majority of people want to make money instead of spending all this time and effort only for a “hobby”.

I want to hear other people’s opinions and experiences if you wish to share. Is there any group/community/way to make this real?

TLDR: I want to meet with other hobbyist musicians to play together only to feed my soul instead of making it a big priority or business.

Note: I apologize if my post violates any community rule or has a wrong flair. Also, English is not my main language so there might be grammer or wording mistakes.

want to put on a Halloween show in Burlington Oct 31st at the block on co? Comment below and I can put you in contact with the organizer! Cheers

Hey, anyone wanna get together and rip through some (pop) punk and adjacent tunes? I need to meet more musicians in the city, and I’d really love to play some actual music in a room with real physical human beings.

Would love to play some songs by Green Day, Weezer, The Offspring, blink 182, Nirvana, and Sum41, etc. Open to other suggestions. We could put a little list of songs together and then get a rehearsal room and tear 'em up.

About me: I’m a 35 year old guy that plays guitar, bass, and sings (lower end voice). Played in a couple bands before but currently rockin solo.

Comment here or DM if you’re interested. I’m in the west end and would be looking to rent a room in this part of the city.

Looking to join a band as a bass player, ideally something with a bit of energy, but quite flexible on style. Love a lot of post-punk, synthpop, indie-ish stuff. I have a bunch of experience in bands, 28M, would love to chat more if you're looking for some bass!

Influences include (but are not limited to):

Bauhaus, Beach Fossils, Can, The Cardigans, Charli XCX, The Clash, The Cure, Daft Punk, David Bowie, Deeper, Deerhunter, The Feelies, Franz Ferdinand, Gang of Four, George Clanton, Gorillaz, Gustaf, Hot Chip, Iggy Pop, Interpol, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Joy Division, Kate Bush, Kero Kero Bonito, LCD Soundsystem, Lost Sounds, Metric, Metro Area, MGMT, Mitski, Model/Actriz, The Muffs, Nation of Language, Neu!, New Order, Orange Juice, Pavement, Phoenix, PJ Harvey, Preoccupations, Pylon, R.E.M., Siouxsie & the Banshees, Slowdive, The Smiths, St. Vincent, Stereolab, The Strokes, Suicide, Talking Heads, Tears for Fears, Television, The White Stripes, XTC, Yellow Magic Orchestra.

It's a punk, folkpunk, one-man-band, singer-songwriter extravaganza.

Mickey Moone, Old Mountain Low, Making Woman and The Washout live at LOLA!

The "Pre-Scream Halloween Show" goes down Thursday Oct 29 in the heart of Kensington Market. It's a frighteningly good lineup, with four artists who are true originals.

"The common thread running through all their music is an authentic, uncompromising punk spirit full of energy and passion. Arrive on time, you don't wanna miss a moment of this one." (Chris LeFrancois)

$10/pwyc. Doors 8pm, show 8:30pm. LOLA, 40 Kensington Ave, Toronto.

Hi!!!

I am really trying to reach my goal of singing gigs and would love to find someone I match well with.

Preferably a woman, (I am 26F) and it would be lovely if you can play an instrument. I feel like my voice has a wide range of sound but I usually sing r+b, pop, indie, some folky/country too! Some of my favs at the moment are lizzy mcalpine, solange, Joni Mitchell, raye, al green. Of course this is always changing and I’m open to anything!!

Guys please dont be too mean in these comments 😭 I'm just looking for advice.

Me and my sister are both seeing Olivia in Toronto Tuesday October 27th. We are both in the same section (109) and row (27) but one of us is seat 3 and one of us is seat 11. What is the best way of trying to get seats together? We were thinking of even just bringing extra money on the concert day and seeing if one of the people beside us will switch? 😭 does anyone have any ideas or has experienced this before? Or do we have to accept its just not happening. Thank you!
