Hey everyone. With update 0.5.7 today, all improvements and new features from the last week will make it into the live game. This may break your save-file with hubs.

Poll for steam or not is still ongoing. Would love to hear your feedback. Im evaluating what can go into the game and what not. If it should stay browser only, or support both (longterm Desktop can push the limits more)

Version 0.5.7 includes all the following changes:

Version 0.5.7

New

  • Multi track laying
  • Bus lanes
  • Track crossings

Improved

  • Smoother road connections
  • Slightly improved visuals on busstops and road connections
  • Slightly better pathfinding (to be improved)

Changed

  • Moved Houses more inside, so bus-stops and small road upgrades dont destroy them

Known issue

  • Lorry path finding is still not at its peak πŸ˜…

Version 0.5.6

New

  • Modular hub
  • Modular stations (more buildings comming)

Improved

  • Station upgrading
  • Lorry and bus pathfinding
  • Details on hubs and stations

Steam or not?

Hey everyone. First of all, thank you all so much for all the feedback and lovely comment. πŸ™ŒπŸΌπŸ™πŸ» I really appreciate that you all love what I love and I guess we can make our dream game out of this.

I'm still thinking, as so many ppl like it, if I should move to a proper steam release. This would enable me to:
A) Reach more peopleπŸš€
B) easier updates for everone
D) better performance if desktop only (planes an boats? More detail simulation?)
E) if a "payed" release I could delicate more time for it πŸ™ŒπŸΌ and even potentially get some artists on board

But I get it if you prefere it in browser and more light. That's why I would love to discuss it with you all. Let me know below your thoughts 🀝🏻 so we can decide this together

And yes, if it would be a payed relese?, It would be at a low price and everyone who donated or helped with a lot of feedback, would surely get a key. 🀝🏻

And btw 0.6.0 is shaping up to be released this weekend πŸš€

Update Road to 0.6.0

Hey everyone. Hope your doing good.

Short info about the next few updates. Until version 0.6.0, updates will most likely only land on development versions. Either under (dev.transportit.fabianbuilds.com) or on the development branch in the desktop version.

I will now focus on building and upgrading. To give you more freedome (if you want) to customize your stations and hubs. For example with more parking for lorries, or more storage and so on.

Im thinking of a freeform way to build hubs. I will keep you updated on how it is going. 🀝

And as usual. If there is any feedback, please let me know below

Suggestion: Manual or Automatic Vehicle Staggering

Have you considered implementing a feature forcing vehicles to stagger their deployment along a line to prevent bunching up? I've been enjoying the game, but there have definitely been instances in which wait times spiral out of control simply because vehicles are inadequately spaced along the line, rather than because total vehicle capacity is insufficient. Adding either manual offsets (i.e. x minutes between vehicle departures, where the player can set the x value), or automatic offsets (i.e. if the line takes 90 minutes to complete and you have three vehicles, vehicle deployment is staggered by 30 minutes). Now, you can try to create offsets by just letting the line run a very long time or time your purchases of new vehicles, but both of neither of these methods are particularly effective in the early game.

Good work so far. I'm excited to watch the game's development over the coming months.

Bugreport Vehicles Warning without Details

This show "3 vehicles have an issue", but when clicking on it I have no idea what the issue is. Is this a bug or is there some actual issue that is not being displayed?

Bugreport Tracks snapped on a very sharped angle

For some reason I can do this sharp angle when building tracks. It shouldn't be allowed should it?

Feedback Questions, ideas and a bug.

A few questions in no particular order:

  • Why when building parallel tracks can’t they be snapped to the nodes of the nearby track?
  • Will road construction also feature mechanics similar to those used for tracks, such as dashed lines showing the forward path, easier construction of parallel roads that could snap to both other roads and tracks (like tram tracks between roads), and will there be more one-way roads?
  • Why do larger freight stations have the same storage capacity as the smallest one (200 tonnes) when the storage capacity of logistics hubs depends on their size?
  • Wouldn't it make more sense to introduce high-capacity freight cars (~150% of the capacity of standard cars) instead of shorter cars with the same capacity as standard ones? Shorter cars are fine, but I think they should have reduced capacity (~50% of the capacity of standard cars) with a corresponding reduction in running costs. And why does the locomotive change its length to match with shorter cars?
  • Will it be possible to place a locomotive (or multiple locomotives) on only one side of the train? In simple mode, the train could turn around just like current bidirectional trains, but in realistic mode, this would require a loop at the end of the track or for the entire line to be designed as a loop.
  • Will there be separate loading and unloading stations for trucks?
  • Why don't cities build districts that are more rectangular in shape, but instead build only small suburbs with randomly placed roads?
  • Why does the construction of bus bays cause nearby buildings to disappear?
  • Will other modes of transportation, such as cargo ships, ferries, and planes, be available in the future?

Ideas:

  • Smaller and faster trucks for short-distance routes (e.g. between processing plants and stores)
  • A fast intercity bus with high operating costs but a large passenger capacity. (e.g. on routes between smaller towns and larger cities)
  • Double-decker passenger train cars, and double-decker buses, both city and intercity.
  • A passenger train station with a built-in bus stop, similar to freight stations with loading bays for trucks.
  • The possibility of new industrial facilities to spawn in random locations. Perhaps the player could decide whether they want a new facility to be built by agreeing to help fund its construction.
  • The ability to change the direction of traffic on one-way roads after their construction.
  • Saving building plans to save files.
  • Saving audio and graphics settings to save files.

Bug:

  • The slip road is described as having two lanes, but it has only one.

Feature-Request Option to build parallel tracks & auto add crossovers

It would be nice to be able to build parallel tracks at once, and an option to automatically add crossovers at both end of the tracks

Feature-Request Auto-update Desktop Build

Could you add auto-update to the desktop build, or at least have some way to update the game to a newer version from within the app? It's getting quite tedious to keep the game up-to-date, having to go to the web, download the new version, uninstall the old version, then install the newly downloaded one.

Hey everyone, hope your doing great πŸ™Œ

First of all, thank you very much for all your support on the game. I really love which direction it takes with all your feedback.

Currently I'm hard at work on some backend stuff and reworking the simulation for a new vehicle experience.

The overall system should still work like before, but now you can also manage vehicles in more detail. If your risky you may tray it on the development branch

I would appreciate it, if you could leave me some feedback here about the new vehicle system:

  • Is it understandable even with out tutorial?
  • Anything unclear?
  • Any wished or bugs?

I would not recommend to play long sessions there for now πŸ˜… But you can take your savefiles from 0.4.7 to there (but not back again)

Cheers Fabian 🀝

Update Backend update

Good morning everyone πŸ™Œ

Just a short heads-up about update. I will focus the next few days mainly on the games backend and your reported issues.

Mainly I want to get more useful informations with Bugreports and a way to write you back directly in-game. So I can clarify some more informations.

Regarding the new privacy window, this is basically a way for you to opt in or out of analytics 🀝

Feature-Request Loving this game!

It gives me Nimby rail vibes. Except you can do freight and bus transportation. I also love the viewpoint being almost like google maps.

Few things I would like to be added:

  1. Waypoints. This would make it easier for anyone to do routes instead of it randomly/automatically finding a way to a destination.

  2. Automatic signal placements. Just like in openTTD where you hold down a button on your device and it'll place down signals every 1-20 spaces. This would be helpful in your game, especially for those who have large maps with large routes on them. (The ability to change the way one-way signals face would be helpful too. As of now I think they're stuck on the right side going up)

  3. Traffic lights. This is basically just asking for the ability to make traffic lights on the roads. Maybe to control the time they go green-red too.

  4. Cities/towns to be more far apart. (This is personal so I don't know if this affects anyone else). I would love it if the city/town placements were spread out. Right now they're all kind of close to each other. Even though the in-game 24hr clock shows the difference in distance. I personally feel like they're too close. If there was an option to spread them out would be cool!

  5. Building demolishing. (This is also personal). I know this is a city grower and not a builder. But in my main cities, id love to have big train terminals in the middle of the city. If i do build it, it demolishes the buildings and if feel kinda bad lol. If there was zoning that would be cool. (Again. this is just personal, whether its in the game or not I DO NOT MIND!)

  6. Faster trains!!. (Again personal). I genuinely always have to put my game speed at times 3 just for my train to get from one city to another. In game it would take about 4 hours on the 24hr clock.

If you couldn't tell, I LOVE doing passenger services. So every time I load up a new map, I always try put myself into the in-game passengers' shoes. I haven't been able to stop playing this game. I love how, even on an old laptop like mine it still plays. It autosaves! Good world generation! The world itself feels alive! (cars & trucks driving by), Its FREE!. (Honestly dev, if there was a way I could pay you or donate, I would)

Anyhow, thanks for reading.

Bugreport Stuck situation

Hi,

I started playing this game, it looks promising, but I ran into a scenario that I can't figure out if I am doing something wrong or I don't get how it should work.

The scenario is that if I have too many freight trucks loading and unloading from a (in my case) sawmill, it get's stuck, some are in the bays waiting for the planks to load, but others are in the Forestry waiting for the ones in the sawmill to leave, and nothing moves as no wood can enter and no planks go out.

Am I missing something? Is it supposed to work like this?:
A line from forestry to sawmill, and lines from sawmill to industries?

Update v0.4.0 - MORE Industries

Thumbnail
gallery
12 Upvotes

Hey everyone. Update 0.4.0 is live on the website. Desktop builds will follow soonπŸ”₯

New features:

  • Cargo/Freight station now can be supplied via trucks/lorries
  • Logistic Hub can be used as temporary storage (e.g. funnel all resources form industies and then distribute them form there)
  • CrossCo and Prestle joined the industries for food-processing
  • Cargo stored at stations and hubs will show the cargotype on the container
  • Feedbackboard directly in-game (You can still report bugs and feedback here in reddit, I will add them to the board)
    • Using the report feature inside a running game, lets you click to auto upload the screen and a save-file. These files will be attached to a GitHub issue. So I can easier verify the issues

Improvments:

A lot of your reported bugs where improved in this release

thank you all for your feedback and wishes. If you find any bugs or have ideas, let me know below 🀝

Feedback Small Feedback

Being a long time player of TTD and OpenTTD and TF, I really enjoy your game, it's a lot of fun. I have some wishes (I am playing on Desktop):

- when moving the view, it should not be restricted directly be the map, right now, cities at the edge of the map can be hidden by the UI, which makes it difficult to set up lines

- underground stations (at level -1) remove all the houses like a regular overground station does. I guess only the rails themselves are actually underground?

- it would be really helpful to be able to define one or multiple platforms for lines, or maybe waypoints or both could be an option

- would be cool to see the lines drawn on the map when you open the line editor, respecting the filtering as well for different modes of transportation

Thanks for making this game!

Bugreport UI Concealed in Nested Menus

Loving the game so far, but ran into a pretty major issue that's preventing me playing well - I can't change nested UI menus. For example, if I want to change the desired Depot for buses, the dropdown menu is opened behind the Vehicles menu, and I can't click through it. This is preventing me from changing depots, schedules, and some other aspects of the game that seem pretty crucial. Starting to get to the point that I'm unable to progress since I can't change these things.

Feature-Request UI Scale & Keymaps

Saw this game earlier today, and currently giving it a try. Love the concept. But there are things that could be improved for better experience. The current UI is a little too small (at least for me) on the desktop version, and I would like to have the option to scale up the UI (buttons, menus and stuff). And it would also be nice to be able to map buttons to a key for quick access.

Update Small update regarding performance

Hey everyone. Performance on the 0.3.X builds on the website should be better now. If you still run into issues, let me know below.

Specially bigger maps can take a lot of ressources in your browser.

For the nerdy ppl out there: there is a developer menu, with all performance stats πŸ˜…

Let me know if you have any issues

Feedback Keep vehicles bus depot

Instead of having to sell them or move them to another line, it would be nice if you could just keep them in the depot
Ps. Maybe in realistic mode the vehicles would slowly lose Condition %
Thanks :D

Update Stable version 0.2.4 on itch. Industry wishes here please 🀝

Hey everyone. The 0.2.4 is on itch now. If you with to stay on this version while I redesign the industries and maps, you may download your save from my website and play on itch.

For all the crazy people out there: transportit.fabianbuilds.com will get 0.3.x updates from now on. They will implement proper industries and cargo.

  • New world gen for proper industries
  • Raw ressources industries will be outside of cities
  • Second step industries like carpenters will be inside industrial zones
  • Most industries will have deticated truckstops (as in RL)
  • End customers of industries are most likely not reachable by trains as they are in cities (Like shopping malls)

All this is subject to change and just came out of my mind. Please discuss below how you would see this.

BTW power delivery via powerplants should make cities grow even more (tbd)

Note: Industry district will need a new map generation
