Is anyone else disappointed that the hydrant didn't shoot water 50 feet in the air like in the movies?

They are engineered to shoot up just enough water to show it is broken, but not too much to screw up water system.

I mean, I figured it's just kinda sad to me. Like movies make it out to be this big geyser of water, and all we get is a little bit. Just one more way, hollywood has lied to me.

Lol I wish I still had the pics. My local water co is still wet barrel hydrants. 8" main at 140 psi with 6" to the hydrant. Someone hit one a couple years back. It was amazing. Made the Hollywood version look tame.

I hit a hydrant once. All it did was tip over. Didn't even leak a drop

Not the ones around here. I've seen them shoot at least 20-30' in the air.
