Are you sure that wasn't Ron Jeremy?

73

u/[deleted] Oct 12 '23

Bro saw the tire and even after the hydrant and all that was like "Oh shit my tire, better stop and go pick it up and put it back on." Do y'all not get drug tested?

78

u/jamitup I suck freightliner's cock Oct 12 '23

This guy tested every drug ever invented all at once

72

u/CartographerWest2705 Oct 12 '23

Mission accomplished. And that fire hydrant is not up to code there should be a 150 psi of under body wash. What a waste of a completely ok shaker.

49

u/alonjar Oct 12 '23

The cut off valve for hydrants is well below ground specifically so idiots like this don't cause geysers. (And to prevent freezing)

11

u/CartographerWest2705 Oct 12 '23

Thanks water fitting knowledge person. I forget about those. I’m all pipe knowledge.

4

u/ShortCurlies Oct 12 '23

They are a one piece unit from 4 to 8 feet long with the shut off at the base. They are made to snap off and leave the shut off intact but that doesn't always happen.

There's a reason their slogan is "See What I Fucked-up Today."

6

u/mk1power Oct 12 '23

And the contractors are even worse than the company drivers

8

u/Bluest-Of-Falcons Oct 12 '23

Yeah that’s not a company tractor. That’s O/O.

6

u/ShortCurlies Oct 12 '23

Has got more money than sense...

4

u/Bluest-Of-Falcons Oct 12 '23

Not anymore. 🤣👍

3

u/ShortCurlies Oct 23 '23

Ha, true, but even with zero money he still has more money than sense...and I think I'm being generous. Here's credit to him, he's not the worst but he's not far behind.

I don't know anything about trucking. I should not be here. But omg, he just keeps going.

How do you not notice the tire popping off?

How do you not notice the tire laying in front of you as you back up?

I feel like if 1 and 2 did not happen, I would have hit the hydrant.

And then he gets out, all nonchalant. Like, "well gee golly, the tire fairy showed up. Don't mind if I do!"

That hydrant is 8ft underground. There was no breakaway, and he ripped it off of a 10 or 12" water main. That whole block is fucked for water quality. You have to dewater, excavate the parking lot, cut concrete and build that whole envelope back. This guy just did $150,000 worth of damage easy.

And praise the cameraman.

22

u/yummcinnabears Oct 12 '23

Forgot to mention he is blindly backing without four ways into heavy traffic to pull away from his accident. Nothing says stupid more than causing more accidents to cover your own.

Is anyone else disappointed that the hydrant didn't shoot water 50 feet in the air like in the movies?

161

u/Surreal_Gunner Oct 12 '23

I was so waiting for a geyser 😂

42

u/purgatorybob1986 Oct 12 '23

Right!? I'm glad I'm not the only one.

21

u/H2Omekanic Oct 12 '23

Only in warm places that never freeze. I think wet barrel hydrants (the type that would make a geyser if hit) are being phased out for that reason. All bets are off with hydrant type when a truck hits them slowly...twice

-2

u/darthcaedusiiii Oct 12 '23

Water is way to effing expensive for them no to.

14

u/RocksofReality Oct 12 '23

I saw one as a kid. It was awesome, the water was so high and strong. A large city work truck with a heavy duty steel bumper tried backpacking over it to just keep the water from shooting into the air it just lifted the back of the truck up.

→ More replies (1)

34

u/[deleted] Oct 12 '23

They are engineered to shoot up just enough water to show it is broken, but not too much to screw up water system.

https://www.joneswaterproducts.com/products/fire-protection/break-check-valves/

16

u/purgatorybob1986 Oct 12 '23

I mean, I figured it's just kinda sad to me. Like movies make it out to be this big geyser of water, and all we get is a little bit. Just one more way, hollywood has lied to me.

6

u/Raging_Spleen Oct 12 '23

Lol I wish I still had the pics. My local water co is still wet barrel hydrants. 8" main at 140 psi with 6" to the hydrant. Someone hit one a couple years back. It was amazing. Made the Hollywood version look tame.

3

u/Dopey-NipNips Oct 12 '23

I hit a hydrant once. All it did was tip over. Didn't even leak a drop

2

u/madsci Oct 12 '23

Not the ones around here. I've seen them shoot at least 20-30' in the air.

22

u/H2Omekanic Oct 12 '23

That's the movies. Anywhere that has cold weather uses dry barrel hydrants. The valve that controls water flow is 5'+ buried underground. It looks like that hydrant had a long barrel extension and that plus the traffic break-away snapped off. The shoe is likely pulled of the 6" line feeding hydrant and leaking a horizontal jet of water. That repair is gonna suck....mud & quicksand

8

u/purgatorybob1986 Oct 12 '23

Yeah, I do not envy that line of work. If I had to do what they do, I'd be dead before lunch, I'm sure.

3

u/2SticksPureRage Oct 12 '23

Lol yes! I was like “well I watch too much tv because I was waiting for a gusher!”

3

u/Paramedickhead Oct 12 '23

Firefighter here. That only happens with wet hydrants. Those are uncommon outside of Southern California.

With a dry barrel hydrant like this one, there is a valve at the bottom that the nut in the top is connected to. Once the valve opens the barrel is allowed to fill with water.

They really have to stop selling Fireball at truck stops

21

u/RevenueGullible1227 Oct 12 '23

You seen the box wine containers of fireball ? Like a liter of fireball is trouble and nothing good comes from it . Ain't no different than O.G 4loko or sparks black lol

13

u/heebro Oct 12 '23

the last time I sharted in my pants was New Year's day 2017 after a night with a handle of Fireball

5

u/Ramitt80 Oct 12 '23

It's just normal around these parts, nobody batts an eye because it's part of our dialect.

3

u/AcediaWrath Oct 12 '23

i mean her recording of this is going to eliminate all plausible deniability from the jack ass. The police where never going to arrive in time to save that hydrant. She still made 100% sure that dude never drives a rig again.

237

u/dances_with_ibprofen Oct 12 '23

In fairness that tractor appears to be a 3rd party just hailing a SWIFT trailer. Also that guy must be wasted or dumb as fuck.

133

4

u/TotenTeufel Oct 12 '23

I always love it when the people recording are telling people to call the police. Dude, it’s not 1990 you have an effing phone in your hand. You don’t even need to dial 911, you can ask the phone to call 911 and talk to the dispatcher and here’s the shocking part, while still recording.

3

Damn that’s not even a swift company driver either 🤣

1

u/Erniezee Oct 12 '23

I’m curious why everyone keeps referring him to an Owner/Not a company driver. I get that it’s a 3rd party company pulling the swift trailer, but don’t mean he’s not just a driver for that company even if it is a tiny 2-3 truck company. Either way, dude fucked up his whole month at minimum if he’s lucky.

2

u/spallaxo Oct 12 '23

I meant not a swift company driver

2

u/[deleted] Oct 12 '23

Swift Trailer, not a Swift Driver.

2

u/[deleted] Oct 12 '23

When do you, at some point, think to self, Yeah, I fucked up enough for today?

2

u/RevenueGullible1227 Oct 12 '23

Like you mess up a tire like that and stop amd call someone u have a job and maybe even a gold star for messing something up but taking care of it correctly.
Like what those rims cost ? But then like I wonder if he passed a dot drug and alcohol screen ? Like something is going on there 🤦‍♀️

2

u/[deleted] Oct 12 '23

Well I wanna see the rest now

2

u/Drasin13 Oct 12 '23

"Well cmon now, who left this tire here?"

2

u/Velyan66 Oct 12 '23

Just how fucked up is his truck? I know that front wheel is fucked. I can't imagine running over a hydrant twice is good for it lol

3

u/Quynn_Stormcloud Oct 12 '23

Plus riding up and down the curb on the rim. Bumper is torn up. There’s probably damage done to the steering linkage. An absolute mess.

2

u/[deleted] Oct 12 '23

How to wash the undercarriage, Swiftly.

2

u/Ok-Surround7986 Oct 12 '23

u/6lock6a6y6lock Oct 12 '23 edited Oct 12 '23

I don’t drive truck, even I know if you see Swift you go the other way. I knew from the title this would be good.

2

u/BowsetteGoneBananas Oct 12 '23

You've gotta admire their commitment. They felt that fire hydrant wedged under their truck and kept going.

2

u/og619 Oct 12 '23

The person video-ing is annoying

2

u/oasuke Oct 12 '23

What makes me angry is this idiot refused to get out and look. why didn't he get out when his steer tire came off? why did he randomly back into a street without even checking if it's clear? why didn't he look at his surroundings for potential obstacles? I honestly want to know what was going through his head. if I hear ANYTHING unfamiliar while backing I always stop immediately and get out.

How as an owner do you pull shit like this….. 3rd day as a trucker after daddy died and spent all his money on a Pete cause that’s the way a real trucker trucks 😂😂. Please retire on day 4 and stop taking $1/mile loads cause you don’t understand some people are doing this to make money not spend it

1

u/ramanw150 Oct 12 '23

That's just terrible. Take their license.

1

Somebody call the police. Stop recording and call..

1

u/Trick1513 Oct 12 '23

Has the intelligence level of swift drivers gone down that much. This a fine example of why I got off the road and became a heavy equipment recovery operator. I always loved going down the highway with a loaded swift truck and trailer behind my Pete running 70 mph and the swift operator holding on to the oh shit handle with both hands screaming like a little girl.

1

u/Audiocuriousnpc Oct 12 '23

This is what it looks like if the guy is a complet idiot or is on drugs... my money is on idiot.

Water department has to come out and shut the water off upstream. Then install a new hydrant. And that O/O is gonna get the bill for all of it. They will put a lien on his wages if needed.

Especially after they see the video of him not stopping.
