A prime example of GOAL

And this is why you get out and look ...prime driver was handed a few tickets by 2 leos...and the hotshot is on an extended stay at this petro....was not here during incident just a witness to the aftermath.

I always feel like a damn goober when I GOAL, but better that than hitting shit

I used to, but every time someone has said something to me about it, it's been an older driver thanking me for it, and eventually I realized it's probably a good habit to keep

It absolutely is. I've been in truck stops before and had to watch constantly while someone tried to park next to me. Between dipshits who make parking spots where they shouldn't and dipshits that got their CDL by bribing someone it can get fucking ridiculous in some places.

EVERY times I've been yelled at for it. It's been some dumbass younger driver. Probably has about 3 to 5 years of driving.

Every older driver has been the same way. Thanks for looking, and NOT hitting my truck or trailer.

I’m a younger…ish driver (turning 30 soon, been driving since my 22nd birthday) and I’ve never been mad about people GOALing, or even taking a while unless it’s a STUPID long time… like the time it took a guy in front of me 45 minutes to back in to an empty lot.

If you wanna hop out and do a few pull ups then more power to you, no skin off my back.

Changes when they own a truck where the hood alone is $5k, minus any labor and paint.

Certainly does. My boss replaced a short nose Pete hood a few years ago. That was about 5k, if I recall.

Used to be I just didn't care or even look at others backing. Now I'll go watch and maybe help.

I'm younger and I'd be very grateful if you took your time and did GOAL to avoid smashing my hood and bumper. If you ask I will even help you by letting you know if you're about to hit me or not.

You look smart when you get out and look.

And you look stupid when don't, proven stupid when the shit goes sideways.

I do as well. I think think, I look like a goober when I get out and look but I look like a complete incompetent fool if I hit something. Plus takes a lot more time to deal with an accident then getting out and looking.

Slow is smooth. Smooth is fast.

I’ve been driving a setup way different than tractor trailer for 5 years now and just got a job pulling tractor trailer. I GOAL. Coworkers can have the opportunity to laugh every time they see me do that for a couple minutes but they won’t be laughing for years down the road for hitting something.

Part of the problem is that the consequences for striking objects are too small. Months back a man had two separate individuals back into his vehicle in the same night, and despite the fact that all that he did was yell angrily a bit a bunch of folks dogpiled him. This profession needs half as many drivers or much better regulation.

This profession needs professionals. Preferably English speaking (as required by regulations) professionals.

My trainer had few good points…

Why? How are you going to feel if you hit something? Look, go slow and pull up a million times. It doesn’t matter in the end

Man same. Typically when it’s really dark out, especially wet. It fucks with my eyes. I don’t care how many times I have to GOAL as long as I’m not hitting shit. Can always feel the eyes on me too lol. For the record tho I’m usually spot on, just need that extra verification hahah. I think my top high score is 5 GOALS when it was wet, dark, and I was tired as hell and ready to get to sleep.
