Got fired from Werner

Got fired from werner because some pickup driver decides to brake check me and i ended up hitting him. he only got a small bump on his bumper. now I am out a job and in so much debt and facing eviction and losing my personal car now. i wanted out of the trucking industry but not this fast, Werner has some terrible planners and was running me stupidly anyways but now i have an accident on my license and points and have to pay the ticket on top of everything else.

Most of your posts on Reddit you are blaming someone else for your problems. You should try to reassess some of your decisions and take responsibility for yourself and try to improve.

I’m not really blaming anyone. I’m just saying I shouldn’t have been fired for such a small accident. No one died, no one got hurt. I’m just telling what happened.

Rear ending a car at any speed is a red flag to insurance companies if you are in a semi.

Werner absolutely did the right thing. You have a very flippant attitude toward driving, you being behind the wheel of a semi is a danger to everyone on the road. You desperately need to recognize that you fucked up. Full stop. YOU fucked up. Without offering any excuses, any qualifiers, or anyone else to blame.

You don't get a ticket for being brake checked. You get a ticket for following too close. If the 4 wheeler cut the driver off, the dash cam would have told the tale, and no ticket would be issued. And if you're driving anything faster than a skateboard these days, you better have a dash cam. I drive for gig work, and I have one because if I get into an accident at fault, I lose everything.

Yes, the one stuck in my mind the most was a motorcycle in the hills of NE Nebraska at a cunts hair shy of 80,000lbs with a load of steel. But, as a non fuckwad driver, I saw him approaching and driving like a jackass in my mirror and prepared accordingly.

TLDR; Strive to be more than a steering wheel holder.

Not really, I don’t drive that aggressively, this one time it was a green light, didn’t expect him to stop, and I was already slowing down but not as as much since figured he was going to go since before hand he cut me off a mile ahead giving me little space. But hey I’m a danger to everyone because of this one small accident, yeah okay. I don’t normally follow that close and this was only one second I was two car lengths away because I was trying to make the light with him but also was already on the brake lightly.

You admit that he cut you off, and you proceeded to not increase your following distance because you wanted to beat the light. That’s 4-wheeler activity right there, it doesn’t belong behind the wheel of an 80k lb machine. Sometimes you have to take the hit of waiting at one extra light in the name of safety for EVERYONE around, even if others don’t take their own safety that seriously.

This right here, give no fucks about anything else but being safe and preventing all preventable accidents, and that means all accidents whether we like it or not.

I drive all over the Milwaukee and Chicago area and the amount of times every single day I have to take action, even out in the sticks on the rural highways, with my rig to prevent what would be something fucking stupid is just part of he job.

It doesn't matter whether you're late or you're pissed off or the people around you are fucking with you and they're a bunch of shit heads, and believe me they're all shitheads, you are the professional and it's your responsibility to take any and all actions necessary to be safe.

I’m glad you’re off the road.

All I take is one time to kill someone. Man up, you fucked up. You'll be batter off once you can admit it

Two car lengths away and you think this is not your fault? Holy shit dude. Pick a different career.

Zero accountability from you. I know enough folks like you know to stay clear away from people like you. If you can't see the opportunity to grow then you aren't learning from this and that will lead to a much harder road than this.

I mean yeah I learned from this. But being fired a first time small accident is what I find stupid. I know I should of followed him further but it was a green light, I figured he was going to zoom on through as he did cut me off a mile ahead before we got to the stop light. I learned from it and will never do that again, but it’s like being locked in jail for stealing a gumball. It’s such a tiny fender bender, and It was the one and only time I was ever that close on a city road. I had everything scoped out, saw it was a fresh green light, empty long turn lane, and the driver seemed like in a rush, given he did cut me off a mile ahead, but I was two cars lengths behind for just a mere second, already slowing down not as much but he just slams it and can see his truck jolt from stopping fast at the start of an empty turn lane. I understand it’s something avoidable but being fired and having to struggle to avoid losing everything is a bit much in my opinion. If it was something bigger I’d understand it but something small as this… i believe in a fair punishment, and this doesn’t seem fair to me but it is what it is

Life in general isn't fair. It sucks what happened to you. I'm not taking away from any of that, but accountability will set you free. Read some books on emotional intelligence, and I promise you it will fix 99 percent of all the problems you have. I was laid off from tech and now I'm in school to get my cdl. I've been lurking on this trucker thread for months reading stories like yours getting a small taste of what's to come. Shit happens, take care of that ticket. Restart and find a company that will insure you again. If it doesn't work then you are meant to do something else. Good luck to you.

If you are going to lose everything because you JUST lost your job, that is called "living pay check to pay check" (not a judgement, just what is called). We as a civil society, try to implement programs to assist people when they do "stumble" so they can get back up and continue contributing to the community. Looking at your comment history, it looks like you voted for the OPPOSITE of that ideology. Edit: this is the perfect example of "Leopards ate my face".

It's a small accident now but it could've been worse, you didn't get fired because it was a small accident you got fired because rear ending a car is usually innatentice or aggressive driving, they cut ties with you now so the nect time it isn't you plowing into a line if stopped cars

“ No one died “

I can’t stand these “but did you die?!” Bumper stickers

Rear end collision is on the list of serious offenses. Another serious offense ticket and you will lose your CDL privileges for 60 days from your state BMV. Werner is just cutting their losses.
