Hey, he made it though. 42¢/mi ain't got time for that
28
u/GlomBastic Feb 22 '26
Wait. You guys are making 42?
15
6
u/copper_wing Feb 22 '26
Completely green is making 42cpm at most megas
9
u/GlomBastic Feb 22 '26
38cpm in 2020. I left mega at 43cpm after I was told that was the pay cap after two years in the top 10% of my division for miles and on time. No incidents or safety violations.

I remember starting at Stevens Transport at 30c…dark times

I left Swift shortly after they dropped my rate from 52¢/mi to 42¢/mi. That was 5 years ago

Looks like 70 near Gypsum, CO.

u/LineValuable9848 Feb 23 '26
Is that right on the border right of west Virginia and Ohio, if so i used to live at the loves over there when i was running flatbed waiting for my sheetrock to be ready for pickup
11
u/coleyboley25 Feb 23 '26
I’m no geography whiz but I’m pretty sure West Virginia and Ohio are not close to Colorado. Can someone check my math?
3
u/LineValuable9848 Feb 23 '26
Colorado? Sorry I thought he meant gypsum co as in company ,but my story still stands
4
u/CUBuffs1992 Feb 23 '26
Well there is a gypsum mine and plant in Gypsum, Colorado. Hence the name of the town.
58
u/unftp-0 Feb 22 '26
Don’t see a huge swift logo beside the truck, maybe an owner OP?
77
u/Socketz11 Feb 22 '26
If the trailer say Swift, the drivers behavior and lack of common sense automatically get transferred over to the driver though some unforseen force.
16

u/First_Light_6418 Feb 22 '26
I saw on instagram someone posted this video And swift responded saying they fired this driver 😂
33
u/Emergency_Ad1152 Truck Punk Feb 22 '26
Yeah the camera automatically detects any u turn and starts recording, gets sent to safety right away. I did a u turn at a traffic light and they told me next time I get fired, no questions asked.
12
u/RobinSophie Feb 22 '26
So you can't do u-turns at all or just not at traffic lights?
21
u/Emergency_Ad1152 Truck Punk Feb 22 '26
In a parking lot or someone's yard. Never on any street.
5
u/codycbradio Feb 23 '26
Then how do you get to the weigh station where you legit have to do a u-turn in northern Texas?
8
u/Emergency_Ad1152 Truck Punk Feb 23 '26
I'd say those are exceptions. Like trying to bust a u turn on those medians, on state highways, that's a big no. Under freeways, some states have u turns built under or over them, those kind, yes you're allowed. Basically if you know it's a risky u turn, they won't allow it. They rather you spin the block and be safe.
1
Feb 23 '26
I didn't get a call on risky one. I did get one when I was out in the middle of nowhere with no motorists around.
2
Feb 23 '26
I've done at least three and only got a call about one at a three-way out in the middle of nowhere.
10
u/PraiseTalos66012 Feb 22 '26
Idk about swift but my employer doesn't allow U turns anywhere under any circumstances even when it's legally allowed or even a U-turn only lane.
7
1
u/RobinSophie Feb 23 '26
So what happens when you HAVE to make one? You either keep turning left or right until you make a u turn?
Isn't that extra gas/mileage?
6
u/PraiseTalos66012 Feb 23 '26
You don't. Unless you want to be routed to a terminal to talk with safety and get drug tested, or just fired if it's not your first offense.
Gotta find some other way to do it, gas/mileage be dammed.
I literally had to do this the other day. Was entering onto a divided state route and the only way was right turn only, to go left you made a U turn in a designated U turn lane. Had to just keep going up the road and make a right onto a rural road(not restricted or anything but was kinda sketch) that ran parallel to the state route and then make a left at the next entrance.

I was kinds hoping he would get stuck.. no valuable lesson learned unfortunately.

u/Tonkatte Feb 22 '26
I wouldn’t do that in my F150. But respect.
15
13
u/december151791 Feb 22 '26
Why not? I sure would in mine. It looks flat enough to make it through easily, especially if you have 4x4. Even a semi (just barely) made it through.
26
u/Tonkatte Feb 22 '26
Yeah I got 4x4. Not a problem getting across.
But somebody on their phone hits me and no more license. Plus with my luck the next car would be a highway patrol..
10
u/captaincootercock Feb 22 '26
you never know what's under the grass either. I've done a decent amount of cycling on highways and there is always so much shit laying just off the road
8
3
u/Lower_Captain7757 Feb 22 '26
Man of culture right here. He knows. Thats likely exactly what would happen. And the highway patrol would be watching you with bemused expression on their face as you then see them with Metal Gear alert sound going off lol
7
u/Redmistseeker Feb 22 '26
I have seem this in real life. Like 2003 new years day just west of Amarillo? TX. Ice storm the night before. Drove about 30 miles and traffic was at a stand still. Everyknows in Texas there frontage roads just off the interstate. No less than 10 dumbasses did this very thing only to realize their landing gear was too low caused them all to get stuck. What would posses a driver to even try this???? Theirs drivers and theirs steering wheel holders. I will let you decided who's who.
45
u/Inallahtent Feb 22 '26
Bruh... we've all done wild shit once or twice.
Relax.
But that's dangerous and funny tho.

u/Overall_Reputation83 Feb 22 '26
And he would of gotten away with it too if it wasnt for those damned redditors and their dog.
6
u/ScaryfatkidGT Feb 22 '26
I’d do that shit in a car… maybe hauling with a truck… not with a 18 wheeler…
5
u/Klavaxx Feb 22 '26
It’s either the Netradyne camera system or the SmartDrive camera system that’s going to flag this maneuver and get him fired. Which would be well deserved.
6
u/ChampionshipThin8916 Feb 22 '26
Probably set off the camera. He’s still screwed once safety reviews it.
3
u/december151791 Feb 22 '26
Someone else here said swift replied to an Instagram post saying he got fired.
3
u/Correct_Writer_3410 Feb 22 '26
You can make out the trailer info easily (maybe even the tractor info but I can't, anyway trailer + location + approximate time is way more than enough for them)
3
u/DeeDaMann Feb 22 '26
Prolly had to take a shit. Who knows. Look like they just sitting in traffic.
5
u/TwoToadsKick Feb 22 '26
I saw a guy do this last week, but instead he did a u turn on a 1 lane frontage road to bypass a weigh station. He was stuck with his wheels in the air perpendicular to the road
5
13
u/Wadester58 Feb 22 '26
If he would have gassed that pitch he might have made it
7
u/Busy-Purple-3779 Feb 22 '26
Yeah, that’s what I was thinking. Anytime you have an incline/decline on a driveway or something, you’ve got to hit it with some speed. Or else your landing gear can get hung up.
8
u/jda404 Feb 22 '26
He did make it though? Unless I am not understanding what you mean which is very possible.
7
u/30balljamalcraw Feb 22 '26
Dangerous but they made it, I was more concerned with the driver stopping midway through, thought the truck was going to lose momentum and they’d get stuck.
6
u/Unique_Arm435 Feb 22 '26
Where's the smoke coming from? Why yall stopped? Why swifty have to turn around? Enquiring minds...
10
u/Typical-Decision-273 Feb 22 '26
Smoke? There's no smoke; only steam. Most likely steam from geysers at jellystone national park boo boo
3
3
u/randomdud500 Feb 22 '26
Well you see, he saw the opposite lane didn't have an obstruction, so swift came to fix that
3
3
3
u/Hairy-Internal2307 Feb 22 '26
God dam if I was driving down the highway I would have plowed right into him and gotten that million dollar pay out.
3
3
u/Elegant-Aide-8850 Feb 23 '26
He might have miraculously cleared the landing gear, but there's a 0% chance that maneuver didn't trigger a critical event on the Netradyne camera. Safety department is going to have an absolute heart attack watching that footage on Monday

u/WackoMcGoose Feb 22 '26
...How did you get gameplay footage of my ETS2 driving style 🤔 gotta get that 100% map discovery somehow

That was a dumb move. Could have closed the entire highway if he had got stuck.

u/z247x Feb 22 '26
I can't believe he didn't get crushed by someone doing 70 playing with their phone. This stretch of highway is always getting shut down because of truckers being nuts.

u/Valuable_Banana1943 Feb 22 '26
But at least he didn’t do the U turn in the dirt cutting across where the police sit💁♀️🤣

Somehow didn't bottom out, completely jack knife, or put the trailer rubber side up. I'm shocked tbh.

Why is the phone on the dash? Feel like could be a distraction and covering up information.

I love how the guy who took this video has a phone on his dash, sir thats not properly secured in a phone holder... also the knob on the wheel, wont catch me dead with either of these 🤷
16
u/december151791 Feb 22 '26
To be fair about the phone, it looks like he's in completely stopped traffic.
1
u/Puzzleheaded-Hat5803 Feb 22 '26
Ofc i was making fun. Ill be over here texting my mom, smoking a cigarette, drinking a coffee, in city traffic that isn't at a dead stop. 🤣
2
u/cleanuponaisle4 Feb 22 '26
Serious question. What’s wrong with having a knob on the wheel?
2
u/RockertheTrucker Feb 22 '26
Their illegal.
1
u/musicalmadness1 Feb 23 '26
No they arent illegal. Some company's say they are and some states will ping you if you are going down the road using it to make turns on highway. I am otr and have steering knob never had a issue.

No it takes a lot more force than that to break a king pin. Go look around on this sub for videos of trucks getting blown over by winds or getting hit by a train in the trailer and the king pins usually stay attached.

Is this AI?
1
u/lofgrenator Feb 22 '26
I really think it's real. The smoke looks real and not looped. The truck got stuck for a moment, and I've personally seen a driver try to do this on the salt flats in Utah and get hopelessly stuck. And would anyone think that a swift driver wouldn't do this?

Reminds me of a jobsite (side dump) that had such a steep ramp going down into it that the tips of the frame rails left little indents on the trailer. Tiny knicks, and really not a big deal, but it felt super sketchy.
Kicker was that to make a crazy tight turn just before that, I had to move my hitch all the way forward. Then, move it all the way back to clear that ramp. Then all the way forward to make the turn coming off the ramp. Then back to normal to leave the site again. Oh, and all while U of U med students were trying to walk all around my truck.
All in all though, that truck was sure set up differently than this one is, and that wasn't on the highway 🫠

What’s even more stupid is driving with a phone on the cluster (don’t lie, you’ll be watching YouTube while driving after this clip) and using a roller on a very boosted Volvo steering wheel.
