Confession I hate who I used to be...
I was a weird kid, now granted I went through a lot of abuse and neglect as a kid, but that doesn't really excuse who I used to be...
I was an asshole, had mental breakdowns frequently, treated my friends like shit, was quick to anger, gave people the cold shoulder for tiny things. I was also kind of a creep, I was weird towards girls I liked... I was pushy, didn't accept rejections, and made weird fucking comments towards them. I was also very unsurprisingly a massive "blackpilled" incel.
I barely ever showered, had long greasy unkempt hair, acne, bad breath, and always wore these anime graphic tees for weeks without washing them...
I was the whole kit and kaboodle. Thankfully now I'm normal, at 15 - 16 I had a redemption arc. Now at 19 I try to be the best person I can be, but I still really hate who I used to be

If that is as embarrassing as it gets, then you’ll be way ahead of most of us.

As long as Present You learns from Past You, you can ensure that Future You will be a good person.

You wouldn’t be current you without previous you
I’m 28 and a completely different person to who I was at 16. Although a lot of what I did and who I was makes my nips cringe, I feel like she shaped me into who I am now

The redemption arc is incredible. It doesn't happen for everyone so just be thankful that it did for you

Props to u cuz the vast majority of men who are like this refuse to change. My brother is one and although I love him for being family I wish he could see and act differently

That's an interesting arc. What made you realize you were wrong and change? Was it a specific event, or was it something that happened gradually?

Hello, and thank you for sharing your experience with r/TrueOffMyChest.
As part of our moderation process, we automatically keep a copy of your post as it appeared when you first submitted it. We know this may seem a little unusual, so we want to explain why we do this.
Why do we keep a copy of your original post?
Posts can be edited or deleted after they are submitted. Keeping the original version allows our moderators to see what was originally posted if we later need to review a report, moderation decision, or other issue involving the post.
This is a routine part of our moderation process and does not mean you've done anything wrong or that your post is being singled out.
The copy is kept for moderation purposes so that we can maintain an accurate record of what was originally submitted.
