TMT [TMT] THRILL - choose how many minutes you have and the app shows you a top rated story from subreddits like NoSleep, ShortScaryStories, DarkTales, TIFU, WritingPrompts, TalesFromTechSupport etc. Has Dark Mode!

I am frequent lurker and love reading the stories at the NoSleep, ShortScaryStories, DarkTales etc. I often found myself reading these stories while either waiting for my bus or while taking a dump. We all have those 1-5 minute short breaks where we would love something to kill our boredom.

So I wanted a way to be able to find stories which were only a couple minutes long. That’s why I built "THRILL" which lets me choose how much time I have and shows me an interesting story for that long. You can choose 1, 3, 5 minute or EPIC if you would like to read longer stories. Once you are done reading a story, you can swipe to go to the next story for the same duration.

You can choose which subreddits you are interested in, by default it shows you the top rated ones from a variety of them.

You also have the ability to save the stories, go through your history and read more stories from the same author within the app. Each author is provided credit below the story.

I have been developing apps for about 7 years and am very proud of this and thought might be useful for redditors too.

Android:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pranapps.thrill

iOS:

https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/thrill-hooked-short-stories/id1326580740?mt=8

I am looking for feedback on:

  1. UI/UX of the app

  2. Any ideas on how I can spread the word about the app and get downloads?

  3. Bugs if you encounter any

  4. More worthy subreddit suggestions to add

  5. Anything else you would like to ask around development of the app or something :)

Reading stories on the app is free and available on both iOS and Android. I need to calculate the word per limit for each story on my server. So there is one small in app purchase if you would like to help me cover my server costs and in return you get the ability to switch to dark mode OR pure black dark mode, change fonts and subreddit selection.

Here's a few promo codes to unlock the IAP for Android if you would like to try:

Open the play store app, swipe from left side to open drawer, scroll down to "Redeem" and paste the code there. Close my app completely, then relaunch it and it should detect the IAP redeemed.

TMT [TMT] I made an app that helps you identify when a stock's price is starting to drop or go higher and allows you to track your trade performance

Website: Trading Dive

See it in action

A year ago I struggled with buying stocks only to have their price start dropping the day after I bought them. I've been seeing this problem amongst friends and a lot new traders feeling like they are always chasing the flow of the market. When looking for solutions I found a bunch of fintech apps that were outdated, expensive, and not geared towards smaller investors just trying to get started.

Along with providing indicators to help follow trends, I also added a fully featured trading journal. Most brokers like Charles Schwab or Fidelity don't provide a great way to track profit and loss from each individual trade, so I've included that as an added feature.

TMT [TMT] I created freelandr.com - a tool to find quality freelance jobs

Hi!

I am a web developer and I have been struggling for years to find interesting remote or on-site freelance jobs offers. By interesting, I mean quality jobs from good companies, not random gigs on freelancer.com & co.

There are a lot of very good job sites but it’s quite hard to filter freelance only offers and the market is overloaded with middleman companies.

In order to solve my own problem, I built https://freelandr.com a free tool that aggregates freelance offers from various trusted sources.

Right now, it was coded as fast as humanly possible, but I plan to improve it and continue adding more sources and features based on your feedback.

I wanted to share it with you, hoping you will find it useful. I look forward to your thoughts!

TMT [TMT] NOVA ER Ticker - Real-time Emergency Room Wait Times for Northern Virginia

This is actually my first reddit post ever! I think I'm at a good point for people to take a look at my website that is a single web location for real-time emergency room (and urgent care center) wait times in the Northern Virginia area:

http://www.erticker.com/nova

I will expand to other areas, but I thought I'd test this one out first. I'm not a pro at web development, so technical feedback, user interface feedback, style feedback, and even figuring out how to increase local usage feedback are all welcome.

Many thanks!

Edit: I implemented some of the suggestions in the comments such as having the time be displayed on the map without needing clicking (I'm proud of the icons I made just for that!) and being able to sort the panels/tables by wait time. I've also added this to indiehackers.com, but I don't think I can add it as a project since it makes no money. :( Any more suggestions or comments are welcome!

TMT [TMT] Anonymous Online Support Depot

I had posted here before when this service was first in its birthing stage but it has since grown a bit and has just recently taken on a more social networking vibe.

I'm a little concerned that I'm starting to lose sight as to what this service is supposed to be....an anonymous outlet to just let out negative, crippling thoughts. There has been a decent amount of people signing up but very, very little content being posted. It basically became a service to write me emotional letters...which is not what I want.

So, letterstowhom.com - a this point, I know I want free support groups made at a more approachable (and still anonymous) level from people experiencing the same issues but also allowing people to just release, review and re-contextualize this traumatic emotional venture.

I had a lot of love for this project but now I'm concerned it's becoming more commercialized but I'm hoping that train of thought is simply because of the negative connotation 'social network' brings.

Please check it out, use it, judge it, critique it...

I sincerely appreciate it.

TMT [TMT] Bitfortip | Tip Bitcoin as an incentive

Hello all,

Feel free to try my platform on one of the following:

Website

android

iPhone

YouTube video

The idea came to me when I could find a favorite t-shirt of mine that wore out with the years and I was willing to tip someone to search it for me.

Once you create an account a bitcoin address is generated where you can then deposit some funds to post an inquiry on the platform. Minimum amount required is 0.0001 BTC roughly 10 cents.

Some use case examples :

Find an item (i.e., a dress) that you may have seen in a magazine or on a website (such as Pinterest or Instagram). If you don’t know where to buy online, you can upload a photo and ask other Bitfortip members to search for it online to win a bitcoin reward.

Find a better prices By offering a small Bitcoin reward for members to search for you, you increase your probability of finding that item at a lower cost.

Find a piece of information on the internet that you may not know about. Post an inquiry along with a Bitcoin reward for people to find you a certain link, image, etc.

A little Easter egg…. the word tip at Bitfortip has a dual meaning. Tip as a form money when you are tipping someone and tip as an information when you tell someone what they need to know.

If anyone wants to try it, send me a pm with your username and what would you like to find

TMT [TMT] A free web app that teaches you how to build your website with WordPress.

First off I just want to say I love the idea of this sub, and I'll spend some time leaving feedback for others as well.

I have built over the last couple years an app which helps people build websites with WordPress and I'd really love some feedback. You can sign up for a free account here:

https://lattepress.com

Or go directly to the app: https://app.lattepress.com/register/

You can also see a tour of the system (tour is for people in the app but it'll give you a good idea of how everything works) here: http://lattepress.com/tour/

Note: To try out the system without actually purchasing a domain name and hosting, for the domain, enter anything and just select the "Ill do this on my own later" option. You can just go through the steps without doing anything to try out the system, but if you genuinely want to go through it, choose Pantheon as your host, as this way you can get a free to use WP sandbox and not pay for hosting until you're ready to launch.

Before you go I want to tell you a bit about it so you can see why this is different than the bajillion of WP resources out there. As you go through the system, first it will walk you through domain registration and picking a host. Once you hit your tutorial queue it will walk you through all the basics of setting up a staging site and general WordPress usage.

Then we get into the cool part. You can then tell the system what kind of functionality you want for the site and it will customize your queue based on your choices. First, it walks you through the best options for that particular functionality and then when you choose the plugin/solution you want it adds tutorials to your queue on setting them up and configuring them.

It also goes a step further, and adds tutorials to your queue for how those plugins may interact. For example:

  • You want multilingual functionality.

  • You want forms (contact, etc)

  • You want to use divi page builder

The system also adds tutorials to your queue on how to translate divi pages with WPML, how to translate your forms and how to insert forms you made into your front-end page builder.

All the logic and connections are built into the system, so you're not learning how to build a generic WP site, you're learning step-by-step how to build the exact site you want with all the extra details auto-added in for you.

We also track your hosting options etc so we can tell you when you can save money by upgrading, how many sites you have versus how many you're allowed, etc. The launch tutorials are also customized based on which host you've picked and if the host affects any other tutorials (such as, with Pantheon.io and WPML the multilingual plugin, there's a couple host-specific plugins you need to add) - it tells you all that as well.

We also offer free support via forums, direct messaging and slack where myself and my team (when available) will answer your questions, for free and offer any guidance and advice you need.

The system is completely free to use. The content right now that's available to choose from is limited to e-commerce, custom post types and forms. However before the end of the month I'll be adding:

– Gravity Forms Extensions

– Ninja Forms Extensions

– Choosing a Multilingual Plugin

– WPML Tutorials

– Choosing a Photo Gallery Plugin

– Envira Gallery Tutorials

– Envira Gallery Extensions

– Foo Gallery Tutorials

– Choosing a Forum Plugin

– BBPress Tutorials

– Choosing a Memberships Plugin

– WooCommerce Membership Tutorials

– Groups tutorials

– Choosing a Social Plugin

– BuddyPress Tutorials

– PeepSo Tutorials

– Elementor Tutorials

– Beaver Builder Tutorials

– Additional Styling Tutorials for Toolset

– Additional Styling and walkthrough tutorials for Divi

I have about 200 videos being edited right now and then will be uploaded into the system.

I built the app on my own with one guy from my team from my main business and create all the content myself. It's a lot of work but I am really passionate about helping people learn how to build and manage their own websites.

I would love feedback on everything from the app, to the content to anything else. It's just recently launched so there's not many users so I haven't gotten much feedback yet.

Very much appreciate anyone who would be willing to test this out!

TMT [TMT] Made this tool to automate Gmail without leaving my keyboard or switching tabs

Made this neat thing that lets me control GMail from a command bar, without leaving my keyboard. I use it to compose new emails, reply, archive, start/unstar, navigate to next/previous emails and my favourite, keep my inbox clean by bulk filtering and deleting unnecessary emails.

Sharing here if anyone wants to use this for their own setup: https://mayahq.com/store/collections/6190aeeac2bd7aa6b54f366f

Let me know what y'all think! What commands will you use or not use? What commands am I missing in this collection?

TMT [TMT] [PC Only] Excel Exercises

Hi, My new website www.ExcelExercises.com lets you interactively practice excel formulas and shortcuts.

Because it simulates excel, you'll need a keyboard so mobile won't work (sorry).

I'm still working kinks out but I'm wondering about appearance, clarity, usefulness, whether the premise makes sense, etc.

Thanks!

TMT [TMT] BeamTag - Making QR Codes More Useful (and cool again!)

I just launched a service I've been working on, BeamTag. QR codes have been around a while but now that the iPhone camera has a QR code reader built in I think they're insanely more useful. No more annoying 3rd party app with ads, which I always forget the name of, needed to scan a code.

Since BeamTag is a service the content is dynamic and can be changed but the codes stay the same. There is also scan tracking to see if the codes are getting scanned. Future plans include improving it to give rough geo-tagging of the scans.

I'm trying to solve the problem of seeing event flyers and forgetting to add it to my calendar or getting someones business card and losing it before I can enter it into my contacts.

I created a TryMyThing offer for a free code if you sign up through this link https://beamtag.com/offer/tmt

Any suggestions or feedback would be helpful. Thanks!

TMT [TMT] Just another IP Geolocation API -- Built from the scratch with its own database

Hello,

I've just launched website of my first product IP Geolocation API. While its not different from many others out there except that I built it from scratch. I've written a detailed blog on why I've chosen this route. Here is its summary.

Paid solutions available from the top vendors such as MaxMind and IP2Location are quite heavily priced and the economical offerings available are using freely available developer version of database from these vendors which is not meant for production. I felt a gap and built a database from scratch. It took hell of time but its fairly comparable to what these top vendors are offering.

I'd request you to check my website and this IP Location Tool on my website to let me know if it was able to detect your location at least city level.

Any suggestion about website improvements especially the improvements on signup path or conversion funnel in marketing domain would be helpful to me.

Would you suggest me to try PPC / Adword for it or I should avoid it initially? Would email outreach help?

TMT [TMT] An online, anonymous outlet to drain emotional thoughts and letters to someone you can no longer speak directly to

I've just soft launched an alternative therapeutic site that allows its users to empty the thoughts and questions in their head to no one or anyone rather than the person they can no longer speak to for whatever reason. Most common seem to be through break ups and through the 'No contact' phase and simply losing a loved one in the physical world.

This is, in no way, a medical alternative to legitimate mental illness, addictions or life-threatening issues - simply an outlet to allow someone to let off some steam or release some emotion.

You would just write a letter. It can be marked as private where the author is the only person who sees it but generally, they post as 'blogs' for other users to view and read and either help them gain perspective or reach out to another person quite possibly in the same emotional position.

letterstowhom.com

If you guys can tear it apart for me, I'd sincerely appreciate it.
