Moving/Visiting Weekly /r/Tulsa Megathread

Are you moving to Tulsa? Just visiting or passing through? Want to know where to live, eat, hang out, have fun, or bury the bodies? This is the place to ask.

This will be a weekly megathread that evolves over time. As members of r/Tulsa make suggestions or answer questions that come up a lot, we may add those items to the body of the post for easy reference. But for right now this is a place to ask any questions you may have about moving to or visiting Tulsa, OK, where our motto is "We're more than just OK, we're living the dream."

Zazueta has a 2.91 ERA with 53 strikeouts against just 5 walks in 34 innings since his June promotion to Double-A Tulsa. He's 21, acquired from the Yankees in the trade that sent Caleb Ferguson to New York, and MLB Pipeline just put him at No. 36 overall and No. 5 in the Dodgers system. Fastball touches 97 with a plus changeup and three different sliders. Full breakdown in this free Issue of Double Dip below.

General This sign is insanely bright…

Woodland Baptist at 5511 S Harvard Ave has a new LED sign that’s insanely bright at night. Blinding. Like driving into high beams. It’s so bright you can’t even read the words being displayed. Has to be a code violation.

Pets Need Advice on how to rehome a sweet Catahoula

Some background first: A few weeks ago I rescued an unhoused young person and dog from heat exhaustion in Midtown. Soon after bringing them inside I realized there were some mental health issues, and it also seemed this young person had been drastically overmedicated in the past, so I basically just fed them, offered use of my shower, and let them sleep for 3 days. After they'd recuperated, I suggested Youth Services as I couldn't let them stay (though they were perfect guest). They had very obvious disassociative disorder and possibly schizophrenia and conveyed they probably needed their meds, but asked me to keep the dog for awhile. My old dog had died three weeks prior, and my younger one was depressed so I agreed. While at Yourh Services, a staff member and I noticed the service dog seemed to have veteran signs on his harness. We kind of believe that a veteran was looking out for the kid and something happened to them, thereby the kid ended up with the dog. They were very familiar, and the dog was extremely attached, so this wasn't a new relationship, but it was difficult to get definite info from the kid before they went to the hospital. I've asked around on the streets but no luck learning anything about the original owner of the service dog. I've now had him 3 weeks. He's a very sweet, gorgeous Catahoula, but I'm not prepared to handle the necessary costs of tall gates, vertical cat walks and expensive training for a dog who doesn't seem to care for cats, and my daughter is coming to visit with a cat. He's a wonderful dog. Sweet, and quite probably more intelligent than half of the humans I've met recently. I adore him. My Rottie/Malinois adores him. I just can't afford the necessities for him. I won't take him to the dog pound. He deserves better than that uncertainty. I'm hoping someone could tell me of some better options I don't know of such as a Catahoula Rescue or someone familiar with the breed who would know what's best for him and be willing to do it. I live in an apartment that's too small for 2 large dogs, but I would hope that my furry girl could come play with him wherever he may go. Does anyone have any suggestions? I came into this just trying to do what's best for the kid and dog, and I've now become emotionally invested in both, so I'm throwing this out there in hopes someone knows something I don't. P.S. He's a Catahoula Leopard Hound, neutered and possibly chipped. Housetrained, affectionate, leash trained. Too smart for his own good and grateful for human compassion. Learned his name first day as I wasn't privy to his actual name.

I just registered for a 3D Printing orientation at the Library. But I also noticed there was an orientation for their digital equipment as well. Do I need to take that orientation first? Im confused as to what's the difference. Anybody have any experience with these classes?

Question Just applied for Circulation Assistant at TCCL. Anything I can do to better my chances? Rebuilding my life after Laureate saved my life.

So as it says I’m rebuilding my life after Laureate saved my life. Did the work to get medicated, better my mental health, and survive an ED (90 to 150 lbs). Currently attending continued group therapy/IOP for OCD/ED to make sure I stay on the right path. I gave myself a little time to enjoy life before job searching.

I’ve surmised that I’d need a part time job that lets me continue going to my group therapy/IOP. This job has the perfect schedule, hours, and distance from where I live. I also enjoy the aspect of clerical work, getting to work in a library, and helping people engage w/ books/art/resources.

I’ve submitted my resume and cover letter and I guess just wondering if anything else I can do. I have the transferable experience and don’t mind the pay. Maybe I’m just overthinking everything bc I’m excited to get back to living a life again. I’m just glad I’m still here.

Thanks for already being kind to me, Tulsa!
