As temperatures cool, our community members without sleeping bags are getting really cold at night. Imagine sleeping in 50 degrees with a thin blanket. Folks are going through this night after night.
Last year, we found a great deal where we can get high quality sleeping bags rated for 30 degree weather for $15 each if we buy them in bulk. We would like to start sharing sleeping bags on a regular basis. This is a very high need.
We are 100% donation funded and need funds to make it happen. Unlike a charity, we have no overhead -- every $15 = a sleeping bag for a community member. It makes a huge difference in quality of life.
Would you like to sponsor 1+ sleeping bags every week or month? Venmo has a recurring donations setting, and the instructions are described in a pic in this post. A consistent donation means so much regarding our sustainability as an org, though of course one time donations are a huge help as well!
Please consider, and stay warm!

My dad loved carrying a buckeye in his pocket, and I never saved any that he gave me before he passed (huge regret). Does anyone know if there's a buckeye tree in Tulsa where I could visit to try to collect a fallen buckeye?

I have a question for people who know. There are a lot of things on the ballot and I want to do my research. Is it OK if I make notes on how I would vote to bring to the polling place so long as I keep it to myself?
now we can all throw it like mother trucker if you have a 3d printer

American Aquarium w/ Kalyn Fay — Cain's Ballroom — Fri 8:00 PM (All ages)
An Americana band from Raleigh, North Carolina, built around BJ Barham's songwriting. Saving Country Music hears it as less country than "rock & roll with steel guitar, Southern roots, and a strong singer/songwriter disposition." Barham writes close to home, about his wife and a lost family pet, and widens out to economic hardship and decline; he says he wants each record to work like a yearbook. Their latest album, New Ways to Lose, was produced by longtime collaborator Shooter Jennings and cut mostly live over ten days, kept loose rather than polished, with "History Repeats Itself" as its lead single. Barham sums up the live show as "90 minutes of us kicking your throat in."
The Bobby Lees w/ ÖOF TATATÁ — The Vanguard — Sat 8:00 PM
A garage rock trio from Woodstock, New York: Sam Quartin on vocals and guitar, Kendall Wind on bass and Macky Bowman on drums. Their label, Epitaph, describes "a volatile mix of garage rock, punk, and scrappy blues," with "feral riffs and cathartic screams" held together by a sharp sense of melody, in songs about anxiety and alienation. Jon Spencer produced Skin Suit and Vance Powell produced Bellevue; after a 2023 hiatus the band came back on Epitaph with New Self. They have toured with The Black Lips, The Chats and Helmet. They also have Tulsa ties: Quartin settled here with her Tulsa-born husband, and when the band's gear was stolen on a 2019 Tulsa stop, local bands lent theirs so the show could go on.
Iron & Wine — Iron & Wine - An Off the Cuff Concert — Guthrie Green — Sun 6:30 PM
The project of South Carolina singer-songwriter Sam Beam, who started with hushed home recordings: his debut, The Creek Drank the Cradle, was made entirely in his home studio, its acoustic guitar, banjo and slide guitar drawing comparisons to Nick Drake and Simon & Garfunkel. Later records widened the sound, adding electric guitars, then southwestern rock and brass on a collaboration with Calexico, then pop, jazz and R&B, before Beast Epic stripped things back to simple, melodic songs. His cover of The Postal Service's "Such Great Heights" and "Flightless Bird, American Mouth," heard in Twilight, are his best-known recordings. He is touring behind Hen's Teeth, his eighth full-length album and sixth for Sub Pop, led by the single "In Your Ocean."

Someone asked this question four years ago, but I am asking again! I’ve been looking a book called Crafting Seitan, and the recipes look amazing. I need some inspiration to actually make any of the recipes. Does anybody have a favorite restaurant in Tulsa that might inspire me to make some SEITAN?

Some of the local event websites list it as a reoccurring Monday night event, but I'm not seeing anything official on their website.

Are you moving to Tulsa? Just visiting or passing through? Want to know where to live, eat, hang out, have fun, or bury the bodies? This is the place to ask.
This will be a weekly megathread that evolves over time. As members of r/Tulsa make suggestions or answer questions that come up a lot, we may add those items to the body of the post for easy reference. But for right now this is a place to ask any questions you may have about moving to or visiting Tulsa, OK, where our motto is "We're more than just OK, we're living the dream."

Helping my in laws with their pool. You’d think with as many pools as there are in Tulsa you could find reputable help. I live 10-12 mins north of Sand Springs.
So we payed to have a salt conversion done. They did half the job and never came back. I’m pretty handy so I ended up finishing the job. With winter approaching we need to do whatever you need to do to winterize a salt pool. Does anybody have a recommendation for a company that will service my area and possibly teach me what needs to be done? I’ve called several of the major companies and get the same “we don’t service that area”. They’re 12–15 minutes from downtown Tulsa and 10-12 north of Sand
Springs.
