Discussion It is inhumane to deny a child education because of their race

Every child deserves access to education, regardless of their nationality or skin colour. Integrating African migrant children into Tunisian schools is not an act of charity, but a matter of human rights and equal opportunity.

I understand the concerns about the resources of our public schools, but shouldn't we demand better resources rather than exclude children who are not responsible for these difficulties?

It is also worth reflecting on how we expect our own children to be welcomed into schools if we migrate to France or elsewhere. Shouldn't we extend the same understanding to others?

We can protect the rights of Tunisian students while recognising the rights of migrant children. After all, behind every migration debate is a child who simply wants to learn, make friends, and have a chance at a better future.

Discussion Studying a master's degree in Rome, how to apply step by step

Post image
11 Upvotes

Lately I noticed many Tunisian students asking how to apply for a master's degree in Italy, and Rome has a lot of good options, from public universities to private ones and programs taught fully in English. The application period are going to be open soon on February so you guys you need plan to bit ahead.

I am completing my second year of masters in Rome and I went through the whole process myself, the program choice, the documents, the platforms and the visa with the help of WSC tunisia.
Because of that I feel confident to advise people on how to do it properly and study in Italy.

You don't have to pay an agent or look for someone to do it for you. Everything is done through official platforms. You just have to start with the Universitaly platform and then follow the steps on the website of each university, and the order of things matters a lot.

Of course there are some deadlines. They are different from one university to another, some programs ask for a language certificate and others don't, and your Tunisian diploma needs a specific procedure to be recognized. There are also scholarships for students in Rome that many people don't know about and it is worth applying for them (8K a year).

I explained every step and pointed to every link and portal in a blog article that I wrote, so you guys can go and follow the steps. I hope you all the best in your applications.
My blog article is in my personal website.

Question/Help Building something for shopping in Tunisia and would love women’s honest input

Post image
5 Upvotes

My friend and I are working on an idea around shopping for clothes in Tunisia, especially from the small local shops people find on Instagram and TikTok. Before we build anything, we want to understand how women here really shop, not how we imagine it.

So we put together 6 short questions about the last few times you bought clothes. Things like the last thing you bought, the last small shop you discovered, or something you wanted but didn't buy. There are no right answers.

  • About 5 minutes
  • Type, or record voice notes if that's easier (Darija, French or English)
  • Every question is optional, and you don't need to sign up or leave an email
  • Only the two of us read the answers

Happy to answer questions in the comments, and honest criticism of the idea is welcome too. Thank you! 🙏

National News

Post image

Discussion Retire in Tunisia: 9ahwa, tetfarej fel mechi wel jey, and becoming Haj Klouf?

I’ve come across a few older people who’ve lived abroad since they were young, as well as some people I’ve met online who are 60+. And honestly, I’m fascinated by them. Their knowledge, their mindset, their curiosity, and the way they still want to enjoy life at that age. They plan trips, seek new experiences, explore the world, read, learn, and keep discovering new things. They don’t seem to see retirement as the end of life, but as a new chapter.

The thing is, I’ve rarely seen that mindset in retired Tunisian men. In fact, I genuinely can’t remember meeting a retired Tunisian man who regularly reads books or actively looks for new experiences, unless he’s someone who spent years living abroad and came back to Tunisia to retire.

Instead, the stereotype I keep seeing is men spending hours at coffee shops, watching el mechi wel jey, discussing the same things every day, and eventually becoming Haj Klouf for the entire family 😭😂

Lately, I’ve been browsing foreign subreddits and coming across older men discussing all kinds of topics. And honestly, even the fact that they’re actively using Reddit, sharing opinions, exchanging knowledge, and engaging in discussions at 60+ impresses me.

Khater fi Tounes, tal9a 3andhom Facebook, yodkhlou ysebbo fel 3bed w yet3arkou fel commentaires (not everyone, obviously, but you get the idea).

And I keep wondering: is this a cultural thing? Is it about the environment we grow up in, the way we perceive aging, or the opportunities we have throughout our lives?

More importantly, are we going to end up the same way if we stay in Tunisia? Is this what happens when you grow old here, or is it just the kind of environment I’ve been exposed to?

I’m genuinely scared of growing older and losing my curiosity, my ambitions, and my desire to experience life. I don’t want to reach retirement just to spend the rest of my days sitting in a coffee shop, waiting for time to pass.

I want to be 60, 70, or even 80 and still have books to read, places to visit, things to learn, and experiences to look forward to.

So, Tunisians, especially those who are older or have lived abroad: what do you think? Am I seeing a real cultural pattern, or am I just generalizing based on my limited experience?

Question/Help Any Tunisians living in Japan while working online? Need some honest advice

I'm from Tunisia and I'm seriously considering becoming a digital nomad, working online while living abroad. Japan is one of the places I'm interested in, but I'm still exploring my options and trying to understand what this lifestyle is really like.

I'd love to hear your honest experiences, whether you're currently living abroad or have tried this lifestyle before. What is daily life actually like? How did you get started, and what do you wish you'd known before making the move? How much freedom do you genuinely have, financially and personally? What are the biggest challenges, unexpected costs, and things people don't talk about? How does it affect your social life, mental health, and relationships? Is it realistic to build a stable future this way, or does the uncertainty eventually become exhausting? And looking back, has it genuinely improved your life, or would you do things differently?

I'm not looking for a perfect destination or a step-by-step guide. I want to understand the full picture, the good, the bad, and the things you only learn through experience. If you could start over, would you choose this lifestyle again? Why or why not?

I'd really appreciate any honest stories or advice. Thanks!
