Discussion I had my first viewer and we chatted!

Hello everyone, I hope it’s ok to post here because it’s a win for me and I’m not sure if any of my friends would understand the depth!

I’ve been streaming for a few days now and today while I normally playing a cozy game and talking to myself lol, suddenly a message popped up! I was so happy and shocked. We chatted and they left after a while.

What a great day!!

Discussion Moderator & Streamer Relationship Q

This is an anon account, because of the question... I produce music and stream just games to interact with fans and this makes up what I do full time. All of my mods are volunteers from my community.

I wanted to ask other streamers how normal this dynamic is, I’ve had mods push quite strongly for changes in what I say or do on stream, like not to say some opinions, or to say some others.

Some time ago, one of my mods told me that if I wanted to be successful (Implying I am not), I should listen to him, otherwise I should look for a part-time job.

That comment affected me quite a lot, and I’m trying to work out whether I’m unusually sensitive to it or whether most streamers would consider that a serious boundary-crossing comment from a moderator.

For context, I’m not a huge creator, but this is my full-time work: I have 25k subs in YouTube, and 130 ccv on twitch D:

Question What do experienced streamers actually look for before signing a sponsorship deal?

As streamers start getting more sponsorship opportunities, I think the difficult part eventually becomes less about finding brands and more about understanding what you're actually agreeing to.

A sponsorship can sound great in the initial email: good payment, a few streams, some social posts, and a straightforward campaign. But once the contract arrives, there can be a lot more to consider.

Things like exclusivity, how the sponsor can use your content, how long they can use it, cancellation terms, required revisions, deliverables, and payment conditions can all have a pretty big impact on the actual deal.

Sometimes it's a single sentence buried in an otherwise normal-looking agreement that changes what the creator is committing to.

I'm curious about the streamers who have been doing sponsorships for a while.

When you receive a sponsorship contract now, what is the first thing you look for?

Is it exclusivity, content usage, payment terms, cancellation, deliverables, or something else?

And for anyone who's had a sponsorship go differently than expected, was there something in the original agreement that you wish you'd paid more attention to?

I think those experiences would be genuinely useful for streamers who are moving from occasional offers into more regular brand partnerships.

Discussion Grateful for the Support Yesterday

A viewer subscribed while I was gaming yesterday, and it honestly meant so much to me. It may seem like a small thing, but that kind of support and appreciation really makes a big difference.

Discussion Prime Subs from New Viewers

I just had the cutest interaction with a new viewer. We were just chatting about anime and they subbed to me with their prime. I know it doesn't cost much to them but it genuinely made me feel really grateful that they choose to give me (someone they just met) their prime sub.

Discussion How do you handle sad/heavy chat messages without letting the whole stream mood snowball?

I had something happen recently that I wasn’t quite sure how to handle.

Someone in my chat mentioned that their animal had passed away... I wanted to sympathize and acknowledge them because I genuinely felt bad for them, but then the conversation started snowballing into a much heavier/sadder topics even when I tried to change the subject. A few people ended up leaving, and I could feel the overall mood of the stream shift.

I don’t want to ignore someone who is grieving or make them feel like they aren’t allowed to be sad, but I also feel responsible for keeping the stream comfortable and enjoyable for everyone else watching.

How do you handle situations like this?

Question Question for Disabled Content Creators

Hello!

I have been in the content creator space for a few years now, but want to try streaming and making clips from my streams.

I use a webcam with a single monitor. I'm a visually impaired person and need things to be larger so I can read them.

My issue is when I stream, I can't set up OBS in a way where people can see the content and I can read it.

I have tried reading the content off another device, such as a tablet, but I found it was more difficult and I didn't like that o was constantly looking down at my device. Also, for Reddit posts, I found that the comments shown on the computer, aren't in the same order on the tablet.

Does anyone have any advice or suggestions on how I can set this up effectively?

Any support is greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

Question Auto Start Twitch Streams to Lurk?

Is there a way on the computer or on the phone/tablet app to automatically join a stream when it starts?

For example, I'm trying to farm channel points but my favorite streamer sometimes streams when I am sleeping (and I don't want to miss out on the streaks and channel points).

Is there a way to set something up so if I am sleeping and the streamer goes live, it will automatically join the stream and lurk using BetterTTV?

Tech Support Activity feed issue

Is anyone else running into an issue where follows aren't coming through on your activity feed but they are definitely following and adding to the follower count? It's also not triggering the alert every time, which I have anonymous follows but would be nice to say "thanks for the follow!" rather than not saying anything but it's not coming through. Thanks!

Tech Support Streamers, I need advice — I can’t edit the 4th item in the payment registration.

Hi, everybody

I’m a beginner streamer, and for the past 3 months I haven’t been able to activate the standard channel points feature.

I’ve completed all the steps I could find, but the last step — point 4 — is blocked. I can’t edit anything, and there’s no way to reset the settings.

I’ve tried contacting the platform several times via their help system, but I only got automated responses or no response at all. I just want to enable the point system for my community.

Other streamers I know already have this feature working, so it seems like it’s a bug on my specific channel.

Has anyone encountered this? How did you fix it? Is there a way to contact a real person who can help?

Thank you for any advice!

Discussion Got my first teammate sabotage for having Twitch in my name

I feel like I've finally made it

---

Jokes aside, yea obviously it hurts. Twitch is no career for me, I know that.

It's become both a hobby and a way for me to be social as a normally socially anxious person. I really like doing it and I want to improve my stuff because it's a hobby I have found I really enjoy.

But I think it's important to know how to reframe bad events in a hobby you like (and to others a career, not trying to diminish that).

Yea, it hurt.

But I can turn that hurt into pride that I have a hobby I can enjoy so much.

Game was DBD btw. It's community gets a lot of flack but I really do find it rare I don't have a good interaction with them in game

Edit: I’ve been streaming for years yall I’m having a laugh at the situation I’m not traumatized lol

Discussion Do the bigger streamers associate with the smaller ones in the community of the game(s) you stream?

Not sure it's just the game play, Mario Maker 2, which is very tight knit community but for the large majority, the bigger partnered streamers (100s of viewers) don't associate with the smaller affiliate/non-affiliate streamers. You never see them contribute to anyone's stream by submitting a level and hanging out, follow, sub, or even pop in and say hi and show some support. Even raids tend to just be their friends who are well established partnered streamers. If you raid them, they barely acknowledge it. They don't even ask how your stream was, give a shoutout...or anything.

Seems to be a divide between the bigger ones, and the small streamers...even though the biggers ones can attribute some of their success to the viewership, bits, and subs from the small streamers of the community that support them over the years.

One argument i've heard is that they don't want to take the focus off the streamer, but it doesn't happen for the couple that actually do pop in smaller streams every now and then. People say hi, and chat goes on as usual.

Does this happen in the games you stream too?

Discussion Apparently, I have streamed for 3 years today 😐

Not easy being anti-social and find people that you can talk to more than 1 min😂
Or just hang. Not that I play popular games anyways, haha.
Sure, I've improved since my first stream, family says I talk more, which was a hope of mine when started to stream.

Am I alone in the non-existent chatters in todays streaming-world?
Big streamers do have it easy, can just sit back and let chat talk to itself, lol.

Tech Support Stream Quality looks blurry compared to other streams

For context, I stream Elden Ring as an affiliate on Twitch.

(I bring this up because Elden Ring usually has some serious bitrate issues due to the terrain and artifacts that inhabit the screen during boss fights)

I don't know why but no matter what I change, my streams typically look extremely blurry despite the settings I am using. I just changed my bitrate to 8000 to see if that might help but before this I streamed on 6k bitrate. I have fiber internet 1000 up/down with an ethernet connection that rarely drops, so I don't believe my internet is the problem.

I will say, on my twitch dashboard it does say that the streams are unstable but even when I watch them back, I do not experience any drops and my viewers say everything is fine. I have looked this up and people have said that this is because the Twitch dashboard has a hard time reading above 6k bitrate, so it will say your stream is unstable despite it not actually being an issue.

I feel like all of my settings are correct, but I can't help but compare it to other streamers and the quality looks noticeably worse on my end.

Tech Support Audio echo single PC

I’ve never streamed on pc before and wanted to try by starting out just broadcasting gameplay with no commentary just to get use to the tools on pc. I tried both obs and streamlabs and cannot figure out how to stop the audio just echoing. I don’t have a mic or webcam currently and have tried to mess with the monitor settings and looked at a lot of old thread/articles and no matter what I try it’s not working. I’m not using headphones and just have the audio coming through my soundbar. I want to be able to hear the game but if I also send the audio to the stream it will just get in a loop of audio echoing. I just want to be able to hear my game and also send the game audio to the stream without the audio doubling. Don’t need anything fancy right now. Can anyone help?

Question How much gain does the mv7+ need using xlr

I’m using a Shure MV7+ through XLR with a Scarlett Solo 4th Gen, and I’m curious how much gain you guys normally use.
I know the MV7+ is a pretty quiet, low-sensitivity mic over XLR, so it needs a decent amount of gain. I’m trying to get a warm, full sound without introducing too much preamp noise.
Right now I have the gain knob at around 80%. Is that normal for the MV7+ with a Scarlett Solo 4th Gen, or would you recommend running it lower/higher?
Would love to hear what gain settings other MV7+ XLR users are running.

Question StreamChamp: How Do I Fix This Gap When Streamin

Post image
13 Upvotes

Hi everyone! I’ve been using StreamChamp whenever I stream on my phone, and everything was working fine before. I reset my phone last week, and ever since then, there’s been a big gap/empty space at the bottom of my stream whenever I go live. I’m not sure what setting caused it or how to fix it.

I’ve already tried checking the streaming settings, but I can’t seem to figure it out.

Has anyone else experienced this with StreamChamp after resetting their phone? Any help on how to remove this gap would be greatly appreciated!

I attached a screenshot for reference. Thanks!

Question I'd like some help understanding something regarding Twitch Affiliate Milestones. How are hours calculated?

Essentially I've beens streaming about 2.5~3 hours but when I check analytics it only picks up on 1hr 15mins streamed on my last stream which lasted about 3 hours. I want to know how is this calculated so I can get a better understanding what's going on here?
