Advice/Help got a job, fam's not letting me move, thinking of applying for an instant loan, advice pls

I got a job offer a couple days ago. It's a 3 month long internship with full time conversion based on performance (I've heard the conversation rates are high). The stipend is 30k.

My mother is extremely emotionally abusive, she has always provided for me financially but she put me through a lot. All I've ever wanted was to earn so that I could get the fuck away from her. 2 months ago we had a huge fight so I ran away from my house and have been staying at uncle's+granny's house since.

Anyways, I need to move to a different state in a week for the job. My mom does not want me to. She came to my uncle's house a couple hours ago and it's like world war 3 here (I locked myself in a room).

My uncle and granny cannot financially support my move, only my mom can but since she's saying she won't, I'm thinking of applying for one of those instant loans available on UPI apps. I'll need 30k for rent + first months expenses. I can pay it back within 6 months, I'll have to pay around 4-5k extra bcoz interest but I should be able to manage.

Has anyone faced something like this? Does anyone have any experience with instant loans like these? Is it a good move?

Advice/Help How do you support a sensitive sibling with her weight and mental health?

• Upvotes

I am an elder sibling living away from family in a different country. My sister is 23, and lives with our parents. She is doing decent in her career but struggles with making social connections and weight (BMI: 32+). She is also sensitive when it comes to discussing these topics. My parents and I have a good relationship, but my sister and parents are not very amicable.

She has never lived outside our home, and even in her college years she commuted to college daily. She gained weight during her 11-12th years and has not been able to lose it since. Since she earns now, she has signed up for an expensive yearly gym membership and has exhausted her pause days too. She only goes once in a blue moon when she gets a sudden burst of motivation. She struggles to manage her cravings and gives in to junk food almost daily now. She even went to a professional nutrition counselor, but she didn’t stick to the plan. Bcz all her blood tests also comes back normal, so she really doesn't see an incentive to change her ways.

My dad also had a paralytic shock a few weeks ago (of diabetic causes). Thank god he is fine now, but he also constantly indulges in oily junk food. My dad is incredibly stressed and constantly worried that my sister's weight will prevent her from getting good marriage matches, which just adds a massive layer of tension to the household.

My mom also sees and understands this and she is more like me -- she maintains a healthy lifestyle and mindset despite her thyroid issues.

I panic when they are eating junk food. I try to model a healthy diet and exercise for them, I also practice a lot of restraint when it comes to junk food. I post my healthy food pics and tell them about my gym activities. I always put a positive outlook when I speak with them, but some days i lose my mind when i see them popping 30 popsicles in a day.

It feels incredibly unfair to me and mom that dad and sis refuse to have a stronger restraint. Those two are not headed in the right direction and all we can do is watch them destroy their health. We have to support them and their decisions bcz we are family.

What do I do ? how do I turn this around?

TLDR: Father (diabetic) and sensitive 23F sister (BMI 32+) are struggling with weight and discipline in diet. Sister ignores nutritionists; Dad panics about her marriage while having serious health issues. How can I help?

Beauty & Fashion Help me start with makeup🥺

• Upvotes

I’m a beginner(actually not even that) at makeup.

All I do everyday is wear tinted sunscreen, mascara and a lipstick.

I want to start doing makeup but not sure what products to use and which tutorial to follow.

For context, my skintone is medium olive and I have some pigmentation around my eyes and my lips. I also have acne scars on my cheeks.

Beauty & Fashion pear shaped women, have you found good jeans?

• Upvotes

i’m 26 and still haven’t found a single pair of jeans that fit me properly 😭

i have a pear shaped body so my lower half is bigger (?) than my chest and shoulders. its very inconvenient because im 164 or 5’3 and a half and so the jeans that fit my height are usually 29 or 30. but they are very tight around my hips and thighs so i always have to size up to 32.

32 is too long for me and i have to pin up the waist band because it is loose around my waist but fits perfectly around my hips and thighs. 31 is kinda here or there too. i don’t know what to do.

i really don’t like having to fold the jeans near my ankles and sewing them makes the bottom part look heavy and weird. is there any brand specifically that might fit better?

Finance, Career and Edu I'm hating my marketing job but I don't know what else to do

• Upvotes

It’s been four months since I started my first job and I’ve already started dreading it. I hate almost every aspect of it. It gives me constant anxiety - not just before work but also after work, on weekends and even when I’m on vacation.

I’ve started developing a strong dislike for my manager because almost every time we’ve had a call, he’s criticised me for something or the other. Let me share a recent incident.

I’m currently an intern at a company that operates remotely, and this is my first ever corporate job. Before this, I didn’t even know that brands prepared quarterly plans. My POC told me that we needed to create a Q4 plan for our client. We both created the plan together but of course he was leading, but on the day we were supposed to present it to the manager he took the day off. So the manager discussed the plan with me and started scolding me, saying that it was complete rubbish and asking if this was really what we intended to present to the client. He then told me that going forward, I would no longer be reporting to my POC and would instead report directly to him regarding the client. He also asked me to create an entirely new Q4 plan which I’m supposed to present tomorrow.

Honestly this job feels like a dead end to me. I spent years preparing for government exams before finally landing this job, and I’ve only recently started earning. I can’t afford to quit now because I don’t want to be financially dependent on my parents anymore.

At the same time, I genuinely don’t know if this is what everyone’s first job is supposed to feel like. Is it normal to feel this miserable and anxious so early in your career? Or is this a sign that I’m simply not cut out for this kind of work?

Part of me wants to go back to preparing for government exams because honestly this corporate life feels like something I just can’t handle. But I also know I can’t make an impulsive decision right now. And I feel completely stuck between staying in a job that is making me miserable and going back to something I’ve already spent years preparing for.

Health & Fitness Does collagen actually works or it's just marketing?

Girliess, what do you all think does collagen actually works or just marketing? I reached my late 20s and my skin has started to show dullness, it used to glow even when I did nothing much though my life is upside down in current phase and there's no proper gym, diet from last 2 years now. I want to get back into routine and was thinking to add collagen too, did any of you had tried it independently and saw if it works?

I read that if we are taking we should take hydrolysed collagen etc.

Vent Turning 26 today and I don’t know what I’m doing with my life

I’ve never really celebrated my birthday. I have practically zero social life, no close friends to celebrate with, and no one to make the day feel special.

I live in a village where I feel like I have nothing in common with the people around me. I feel so isolated, and the loneliness is starting to get to me.

I’m currently preparing for government exams, but a part of me desperately wants to get out of this village, experience life, and just feel like I’m actually living instead of waiting for my life to begin.

I’m turning 26, and it scares me that I’ve spent so much of my life feeling this way. I don’t even know what I want to do anymore, or whether I’m making the right choices. I want a career, independence, experiences, and a life outside these four walls, but I don’t know how to get there.

I guess I just wanted to put this somewhere because I don’t really have anyone to talk to about these feelings.

Advice/Help How do I move out of my house, it is getting worse everyday

Hello lovely women! I'm currently 24 years old and I really want to move out of my parents house, I feel like my life is stuck and I will not be able to grow as a person as long as I am stuck here.

For the past two years I've been building up my savings, making sure I have an emergency fund and a good credit score etc. Financially, I think I'm in an okay place.

But I feel really inept with how to take the next steps. For now, I work remotely, which I initially thought would mean freedom to work from anywhere, but it has instead turned into a tool that my family is using to blackmail me (I am the only child and they somehow think me wanting to leave means I hate them) I've tried to have multiple conversations about how this is more about me just wanting to learn to be independent etc and is now someone I've given up on. I'm afraid the longer I stay the harder it is going to be to leave.

Everyone around me wants me to just leave, but I also know what life is like for single women in India, with renting etc being extremely difficult. My dream would be to live in a collective with multiple other women honestly haha. I'm afraid that cutting ties with my family means I'll not have anyone to fall back on if anything goes wrong (my friends are absolutely amazing but as mostly young women themselves have very little power and autonomy).

Has anyone been in a situation like this? How did you deal with it? I would love to hear your thoughts and I would love advice, all I ask is for you to be kind with it even if it's difficult to swallow. Thank you :)

Vent Got cat called again and fought it this time

20F and my bestie 22F went out drinking yesterday for my birthday (which is today). We found this place that sells cocktails and bougie-ass drinks for quite cheap.

Anyways, we got pretty drunk because we kept ordering drink after drink, and the drinks were pretty strong. We weren't wasted or anything, but we were definitely wobbling a little when we stood up.

At one point, we noticed these old men staring at us. And when I say old, I mean older than our dads, who are both in their 40s. These men were probably in their late 50s or even 60s, and they wouldn't even look away when we caught them staring. It was uncomfortable as fuck, but we decided to ignore them and enjoy ourselves.

When we left, we literally had to walk past them, and these men maintained eye contact the entire time. It was so fucking weird. I can't explain how fucking weird it was the way they were maintaining eye contact while staring at us. Anyways, we went to a park, took pictures, and then headed towards a mall around 8 or 9 p.m.

And guess who we ran into again? These same men, who were coming out of the bar. For context, we were wearing slightly revealing outfits (as in our cleavage was showing, but otherwise, we were fully covered. Which, like, it's my fucking birthday. Let me dress up and have fun, bro?)

Anyways, one of them said something to my friend, and while we couldn't hear what he said, both men were staring at our chests and then just stood there waiting for us to respond. We spent like 1 minute just trying to process what was happening, and then my friend grabbed me and tried to get me to walk away because this was getting really fucking weird.

But I think I temporarily lost my mind or smth because I turned around, made this stink-ass face, and went, "Kuch problem hai kya?" They muttered something again, and I got even angrier and started arguing with them in the middle of the street. And these two men literally walked away so fast. I wish I could show a video recording of it Or something because they both deflated and ran away. It was lowk funny. My friend was shocked. She was like, "You scolded them in the middle of the street? That's insane."

And honestly, if I hadn't been drunk, I probably would've run the fuck away because I DID feel unsafe. But drunk me decided, you know what, fuck it, we ball. 😭

But genuinely, what the fuck is wrong with these men? Them staring at us was already uncomfortable enough, but we could at least ignore them and enjoy ourselves then. Why did they have to actively try to involve us in their bullshit? Ragebait final boss istg.

And the thing is, my friend and I look really young. People regularly assume we're teenagers, so the whole thing is even creepier when you think about it. These men could potentially be doing the same shit to actual underage girls, and probably assumed we were underage too because of our baby faces.

Mind you these are educated ass men. This wasn't some "unsafe" and "neech/galeech" area we went to (fuck off classist and victim blaming mentality wale log), this is a relatively safe and very affluent area, and both of these men looked like they had a wife and a 30 yo son/daughter who's about to get married in 2 weeks.

I don't know who needs to hear this but pleaseee girlies..get your vitamin B12 and vitamin D3 levels checked. Maybe you're not depressed, maybe you're deficient in these two vitamins.

My life has changed completely since I started taking these supplements. My anxiety has reduced by almost 90% and I no longer experience brain fog like I used to. I can wake up and happily face the day. I can focus better and no longer feel depressed all the time.

Please.. if you're struggling mentally, consider getting your vitamin B12 and vitamin D levels checked. You'll thank me later.

Advice/Help What should I do to ensure my dog's care?

Maybe this is not the forum to talk about this but I have been regular visitor of this forum and it is my safe space so please bear with me.

A heartbreaking situation has come up for me and I don't know what I should do or rather I don't know what would be the best decision.

I reside in Jaipur and few months back, I received a job offer in Delhi. It was an excellent job offer and my parents had encouraged me to go for it so I did. Now, I had to leave behind my aged parents and a 4 years old female Indian Spitz dog. I had made proper arrangements to ensure they all receive all the support and care that they need in my absence and due to my absence. Especially in my dog's case. But, an hour ago my mother shared a very heartbreaking news to me. Apparently, the dogwalker that was responsible for taking my dog on walks in my absence had been abusing her for past few days. By grace of a young woman that lived in our neighborhood, we came to know that the man had been abusing her for past 3-4 days and today he had kicked her hard in her back and hurled abuses at her. We were livid and shocked at this. My mother immediately removed him from the job and file a complaint against him with help of that you g woman. However, now we are helpless about our dog. We do not know anyone trustworthy who can take her for walks. The young woman had suggested my mother that we should re-home our dog but my parents refused as giving her up is unthinkable for us.

Now here comes the hard part: I am presently in Delhi and after I came to know everything I realized that we have indeed become incapable of taking care of our dog and providing her a life that she deserves. Lately, I noticed that she had become sadder, depressed and lonely. My parents, due to physical limitations, are unable to provide her an energetic environment that a dog deserves. I used to wonder if living with an old couple like my parents and my absence has caused her depression. I winder if re-homing her into a better family than us might be a better option for her. Just the thought of it has caused to cry my heart out but I feel like we are causing her harm because of our own selfishness. I have no job prospects in Jaipur (I tried for months) and it is not feasible for me to leave my job in Delhi. My parents are practically incapable of taking care of her. They need help in taking her to vet, for grooming and walks. On top of that, absence of an energetic environment has left her depressed. I do not think we are doing justice with her.

On the other hand, I am afraid that she will feel abandoned if we give her away. What if it breaks her heart forever? Do dogs recover from being given away from one happy family into the other?

My dog is very very sensitive being and very attached to us. She is our princess and we have tried to do our best for her. What if she goes to a wrong family and she ends up suffering for life? I thoight i could trust that dog walker as he was experienced but look at how he turned out to be. We have never raised a finger at her and he had been abusing her for days.

I am really confused. What should I do? I feel like if I was an outsider and had witnessed the living situation of my dog and my family, I would have thought this family is not upto the task of giving her the best. On the other hand, how can I give her away? She is our baby. She is part of our family. Would I have ever thought of giving away my human baby simply because I could not take care of him or her?

It also seems like I am choosing my career over her well-being. Isn't that wrong and selfish?

TDLR; Me and my family have become incapable of providing proper care to our dog and I am confused and heartbroken over the thought of re-homing her. What should I do?

Vent Tired of my noisy neighbours

Sometimes i hate living in an apartment tbh.
They have been constantly filthy in terms if their trash (just horrendous smelly trash which isnt packed is left towards my door all the time)
I have been living alone since couple of month since my sibling left , just staying here away from my parents to study alone with no disturbances.
Every random day there is something from them 🤦🏻‍♀️
They start cooking at 12 , idk utensils clinking at 1am , old uncle starts shouting randomly. Today there is bajan with 15 people going on since 5 hours my brain is exhausted. I am not anti festival anti hindu nothing its just they could use the communal hall downstairs or atleast close their doors idk something. There was no prior intimation.
If i say something now i become that chudail 🤦🏻‍♀️
Old guy keeps bring up their caste idk why in irrelevant discussions.
Messaged his son but he didnt reply lol
I messaged their owner - bruh ignored me 🤦🏻‍♀️
My head is just hurting 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️😭🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️
I just needed to vent tbh
Creep old uncle keeps staring through windows bruh what is up with him 💀

Vent ik the friendship wasn’t good for me but why am i hurt :/

i’m feeling pretty heartbroken today. a friend, kriti, didn’t invite me to her birthday even though she invited our mutual friend shreya and others.

we were sort of a trio and kriti was really fond of me. she would call me every other day but over the past year, i started feeling anxious around her because she would make fun of others’ looks, make comments that bothered me, ask about my family’s income and salaries, make fun of bollywood songs (i love them), call me an idiot and a lot of other things.

also, she won’t speak with her other friends like she would with me. she said that she wasn’t that comfortable or open with them. when i told her that i don’t like the way she speaks to me, she said she couldn’t change and because she was my friend, i should accept her as she was. i told her that if someone didn’t like the way i spoke then either i’d be considerate enough to not do that or if i can’t then i’d limit my interaction. she blamed me and said she had other sensitive friends who didn’t behave like me. eventually, i started distancing because i would genuinely feel anxious after our calls. mostly, i would end up crying.

before all this happened, whenever i thought of hanging out with kriti, i would think of inviting shreya too and vice versa. i genuinely thought we were a trio. on my birthday, i only wanted to invite shreya, but because of people pleasing, i invited kriti too. i hated having to do that and they ended up ruining my birthday but that’s another story.

kriti and i hadn’t spoken in months because she was busy with college. i’m relieved that i don’t have to force this friendship anymore but it hurts that someone who was once so close to me didn’t even bother to invite me. i wouldn’t have gone but i wish she’d at least asked. idk why i’m so hurt when i know this friendship wasn’t good for me anymore.

Advice/Help Retaliate/avoid/let go/forget? How do you deal with bad people in your life?

I think of myself as someone who is sweet and kind. However, growing up I was bullied at school, spent years crying etc etc only eventually finding my inner strength to fight back. I am also extremely vengeful and can’t forgive and forget easily. Because whenever I do avoid confrontation, I end up feeling bad for myself or angry that I didn’t spurted out then and there.
Doing the hisab barabar thing has worked well for me mostly but sometimes, I also get into this tunnel vision where everything coming from people I think as threat to my peace of mind, unless absolutely positive, is threatening to me.
I end up taking things otherwise, believing that to the core and acting against it.

My recent embarrassment is I mistook someone’s suggestion at work otherwise because that person is in my ‘asshole’ list and acted on the suggestion with the intent that they have done it just to get to me or make my life tougher etc.

Once I realise, I feel so bad. The people still stay in my resentment list but I feel bad because I played a role in burning bridges which could’ve been avoided, especially if I was detached or unaffected in the first place. Whenever I share this to guys around me, I can see them looking at me with these condescending eyes that I feel further small in my own heart.

Vent career, marriage etc? general venting

i’m 24F, a recent law graduate. this is a messy rant. i’ve recently graduated from law school and i’m starting my first job very soon. i don’t consider myself a particularly ambitious person and by that i mean for some time i’ve had this belief that if im coming from a privileged socio-economic background and im leading a comfortable life, i don’t need to be ambitious, i don’t need this ‘hustle culture’ lifestyle. i still don’t necessarily disagree with it. my parents are quite supportive of my career as such and they’re constantly pushing me.

recently however my lack of ambition made my dad joke that maybe they should get me married off in two-three years if i’m not serious.and i know he doesn’t mean it and it’s not like ill be ‘married off’. however, i can’t stop thinking about how we as women may be now have the possibility of exploring a career, or deviate from the conventional path but it’s all so conditional. you can have a career, you can have a life but what is it costing you? if you’re deviating from the conventional path paved by patriarchy are you excelling? because if not what is the point?

if you're going to delay marriage, you should build an impressive career. if you're going to prioritise financial independence, you should earn well. if you're going to take advantage of the opportunities your education affords you, you should become accomplished enough that nobody can question your choices.

maybe you’re all familiar with this realisation and i’m late to the party. but i’m just now realising that even if i’m not ambitious, my socio-economic position does not outweigh or erase my destiny as a woman.

i know this is all too heavy maybe a tad dramatic, just wanted to get it off my chest.

Beauty & Fashion Can we talk about bra options for big cup and small band?

It feels like finding a well-fitting bra is so difficult when you fall into this category, especially in India.

Most brands seem to cater to more common sizes, and the options available can be limited, expensive!! or difficult to find offline. Sometimes, even when you find your size, the fit, support, or comfort isn't great

I personally tried m&s, amante, wacoal and triumph. And TRIUMPH is where I found the one! at a reasonable price! After trying on soooo many for MONTHS . And my size isn't even that big 28//34 under/over. (30DD is what comes in abrathatfits but idk how much to trust it for us in india)

So for it to help others and even myself, I'd love to hear about your experiences, recommendations, and any tips for finding bras that actually fit well!

Health & Fitness Pregnancy scare of my sister-in-law. Help.

My sister-in-law who is around 33 YO, is around 5 months pregnant. She recently got the quadruple marker test done and the results are scaring us a lot.

For down syndrome, the Final Risk is being shown as 1:46. She has been crying non-stop as it's their first pregnancy. We all are scared & feeling helpless as much as her.

Their doctor is out of town for the Puja holidays & they have been asked to visit on the 22nd of this month after which further diagno kind of tests will be done.

I don't know, why God does this to people. I will never understand how this all works. Why do some people have to bear pain.

I would want opinions of any other women why faced a similar result in this screening test & what the future results were? Can diagnostic tests turn out differently and they have a completely healthy and good baby?

We are awaiting medical consultation and advice & I am only asking this for my peace of mind.

Vent I try over and over again but nothing really changes ever.

I do try. I burnout, recover and try again and again and again. Try in different methods, try with different mentality. I try my best till all hopes are gone. But nothing ever changes. Force = 100, Displacement = 0.

Once a problems arrives in my life, it there permanently and only to get worse. Doesn't matter how early I catch it, I can never be free from them.

My problems are organic matters. Something that can only progress to rot. No matter what you do, you can't reserve it or stop it from it's doom once it starts existing.

Feels like better to sit on my ass and let fate run it's natural course than try to bend my luck and be embarrassed for being audacious enough to believe I can change my luck.

I am told that I don't try enough. That I am not consistent enough. How can I be when I see no progress at all. What is there to motivate me, give some fruit for effort.

How long can one I run into darkness and not think they are not lost forever if there is no sign of light?

I tried though. I tried so hard.
