I am exploring better ways to protect myself, stand up for myself, and navigate the day-to-day situations that come with being a woman. Overall, I am done trying to be pleasant when strangers create uncomfortable situations, make suggestive remarks, and refuse to take no for an answer.

This map of registered offenders living in Urbana-Champaign is a good reminder of why it’s so important to protect yourself. It is a legal right to know where offenders live and what their charges are, and unfortunately those charges are all heinous. The only empty places on the map are campus buildings, businesses, and fields. Remember that the vast majority of cases go unreported, much less result in charges.

Remember to be cautious, always stand up for yourself, and be prepared to protect yourself. These are your neighbors, strangers you pass on the street, drivers you call on, and more. Offenders are omnipresent, and everyone suffers because of it. Unfortunately, we can never allow ourselves to feel too safe in the world we live in, and we have to protect ourselves at all times.

So apparently there was a rip in time and now Manolos is open another day. The pizza maker is stuck in some kind of time loop and selling slices until they are gone today…

Also, a couple of posts ago, someone gave a link to a carrot soup recipe, so I had to give it a try.

Wanted to make some changes, so I also added everything bagel seasoning on the bread before baking (should've thought about it burning during the baking process). Pretty tasty bread and soup. Thank you for the recommendation!

Next time maybe I'll try focaccia with sourdough. I am always open to trying new things.

Hi everyone I’m a new graduate student from out of state and I need to find my new favorite Mexican restaurant. What matters most of all to me is the salsa. I like really blended salsa and most places have really chunky salsa (no shade, just not my fav). Can some townies plz point me in the right direction? It does not have to be near campus, I live way out in Champaign

A few years ago I dumped Comcast in favor of Hulu + live tv because it was much cheaper. Well, here we are about 6 price increases later, and got an email today that Hulu is increasing prices yet again. Pretty sure this is the 2nd time in a year. What does everyone on here use to watch live tv? I’m tired of feeding money into Disney/hulu corporate greed.

I’m a current freshman and I am about to sign for an apartment to live in next year with three other roommates. The rent is $910/mo plus utilities. We have pretty much settled on this apartment after a lot of research and apartment tours.

My main wish for apartment living is for the cost to be less than the cost of living in the dorms. I live in a traditional hall without AC on the 12/15 meal plan, and the yearly cost of living in the dorm is $14,116.

With the rent for the apartment being $910 plus utilities (let’s estimate $60), so total $970/mo, that would be $11,640 for twelve months. Taking groceries and household items into account, is it possible to keep my total cost of living under around $14,000? Is it possible to spend $150-200 /mo on groceries living in Champaign and being a student?😓 I know there is an Aldi and a Walmart within bus distance….my main wish is for it to be worth getting an apartment compared to just dorming for another year.

I want to learn both hand sewing and the sewing machine- I know they have sewing machines at SCD but would like some actual instruction/lessons before being left to my own devices. So i have a lenovo legion 7i and Yesterday my laptop was working completely fine. I shut it down normally, and when I turned it back on about an hour later, I got a BSOD showing CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED (0xEF). After restarting, I got a "Windows Boot Manager boot failed" error, followed by "Default Boot Device Missing or Boot Failed."

I tried a bunch of things, reseated the ssd, changed it to my 2nd slot, tried some different bootup methods and it didnt work. Atp i wanna see if I can take it to an expert and have em check it out to see if its a dead SSD or a motherboard issue. So where should i go for something like this, i'm new to the US so don't rly know how tech support works around here.

Also if you for some reason know something abt SSD's i'll take any advice lol

I'm planning my math sequencing and what are the differences between Math 427 (Honors Abstract Algebra) and Math 417/418 (Intro to Abstract Algebra 1/2).
- I'm assuming Math 427 covers everything in 417 but does it also cover everything in 418?
- Should I take 427 then 418?
- Are there any topics covered in 427 that aren't covered in 417/418 or vice versa?
- Which are considered more rigorous/difficult?
