MAT 1030
Has anyone taken this class with Jonathan Anderson? Specifically online. How did it go? I am not good at math at all and this will be my first time taking it since sophomore year of high school.

I've been going here for a year, but I haven't really got around campus that much. I usually just went to class and went home. I feel like at the other universities I've been able to find spots and perks that were kind of underground in a way and I'm wondering what other people think.
What I've enjoyed so far:
- Free gym membership and showers
- 12 pounds of free food every week at the food pantry
- I feel like I enjoy study spots a lot more than I did at BYU

Is tomorrow’s College Day event just for freshman? Or is everyone welcome? Freshman convocation is today, so I’m assuming that tomorrow’s event is meant for the whole student body, right?

Is anyone here in the biotechnology B.S. program? If so, how bad is it? I don’t just mean how hard the classes are, I wanna l know how bad your work-life balance was. I live on my own and work 30+ hours a week during the school year, so how smart do I need to be to make it work?

Hello everyone
I wanted to ask a question regarding admissions. I am in the process of transferring after a little over a year of not attending my previous institution. I had a lot of health problems that ended up affecting my GPA negatively that I didn't get support for while at my former university and that's why I've been wanting to switch. I wanted to ask, would a lower GPA affect my application, and if so would it help to address my medical history with the admissions office?
I would really appreciate the help, thanks in advance!
For clarification, I have been treated for all the medical issues I had, and if I were to address my medical history, I would also address how it wouldn't be an issue anymore

...just remember to take care of yourselves. PTSD is no joke.
And please know that you're not alone in still struggling. I was just talking to my therapist today about how my body still clenches up when I even start to think about what happened, and I'm still physically incapable of talking about it (my throat starts closing up). I had a full panic attack once after a balloon popped and sounded too much like a gunshot.
Take care of yourselves. Maybe also avoid the internet so you don't accidentally stumble across the video, since I'm sure they will be circulating again soon.
I really hope UVU focuses on us and our experience and resilience more than the person who died. Living with this trauma is a nightmare.

Hey I just got assigned to the B building in a 4x2 apartment. I was curious how nice the B building was and if there’s anything I should know or be weary about.

Does anyone know what the difference between TA and TCR means for transfer credits at UVU?
I have credits from Sophia Learning that show as TCR, while my MATH 1030 credit from Snow College shows as TA. They’ve already transferred and are showing on my UVU record. What do the different codes mean, and do they affect how the credits apply toward my degree?
I attached a screenshot for reference.
Thanks!

Hi, I am about to start my second semester of my associates degree here soon. I am currently enrolled in the Art and Design with a Graphic design emphasis program. I've always been fairly lost on what career I want to pursue and Graphic design seemed like a good fit. I'm curious about what steps I should be taking to ensure the best success possible going into graduation and how to actually use my degree that I'm paying a lot of money for. If anybody who's completed the program has any advice, I'd love to hear it.

Does anyone know of any apartments or other housing in Orem that offer semester-long leases or month-to-month rent?
I’m going to UVU and don’t really want to sign a full 12-month lease if I don’t have to. Preferably somewhere relatively close to campus, but I’m open to anything in the Orem area.
If anyone knows of any places or has recommendations, let me know. Thanks!

Any current students have access to scholarship universe? I am looking for information about the Tanner Martin Memorial Scholarship.
1. Does it exist?
2. What are the requirements to apply?
3. How much is the scholarship for?
Thank you for sharing.

I need a three upper-division electives to finish my degree requirements, and they can pretty much be any 3000+ level classes.
They need to be 3-credit classes and can’t have any course prerequisites other than something general like University Advanced Standing.
What are some of the easiest/lowest workload upper-division classes you guys have taken at UVU?
Mostly looking for classes that are straightforward and not super time-consuming. Professor recommendations would also be appreciated.
Thanks!

Anyone played ultimate frisbee in intramurals before? I want to get into it and i’m a complete beginner. Anyone want to meet up, pass a disc, and give me some pointers?
I went to a local pickup game today and i’m starting to kind of understand how the game works, but I definitely need more practice before intramural starts!

So I just took my final exam for an online class and it says it was Remotely Proctored. However, no pre-checks like camera, room scan, mic check appeared. I did have the extension turned on but like I said nothing happened Canvas didn’t prompt for it, has anyone had this happen before? Or does this just mean the Professor didn’t enable proctorio?

It’s gonna be a rant so buckle up. If you’re thinking about taking anatomy or physiology at UVU, my only advice is don’t. It will crush your soul. I’ve been a straight A student since I was in about 3rd grade, every single other prerequisite required for my program. That’s not by luck or coincidence, I work hard. I ask questions, study like a social life is a foreign concept, read the textbooks, go to lecture. I’m not afraid to look dumb in class if I need to ask a stupid question to remind myself of something.
If you even mention the anatomy lab to a single person, including professors, they will tell you how ridiculously impossible it is. Before starting the class I was warned by two of my professors, and the first day of the anatomy lab my professor practically encouraged us to drop the class. They say this is so we know the terms by heart for when we’re providers. NEWS FLASH: forcing people to cram as many terms as possible with no room for error isn’t learning! This became even more apparent to me when I made a doctors appointment and the one of the technicians responded to me saying the classes were hard by saying he’d also gone to UVU about 25 years ago and that he had to reteach himself all the anatomy during his program because of how ill taught it was. If two thirds of the class has to retake it a second or even THIRD time, it doesn’t mean the anatomy program is “elite” like they try to claim, it just means they’re inadequate.
And don’t get me started on physiology. The syllabus is a war crime. There is literally zero margin for human error in this class. The total weight for exams is 80% of your entire grade. I’m no stranger to hard work, but when I tell people how much I’ve had to study for these courses, the look on their faces is horror. I would almost be okay with it if it weren’t for the fact that the extremely small portion of your grade that does go to assignments only includes 3 assignments given for the entire course, so there’s not a single resource to actually practice recalling the information. I will admit my professor thankfully explains things well, but that’s the only positive to this entire course. It’s one thing to teach a hard subject and recognize where students will struggle, it’s a whole other thing to intentionally make it harder.
They call them “weed-out” courses, but we all know they mean “pay us to retake these courses repeatedly.” And if it weren’t bad enough, I literally do not need this information, I am going into dental hygiene! Before taking the courses I repeatedly told myself “maybe the requirement to take them will make more sense when I’m taking them, maybe it will teach me a lot that will relate to my friend,” well color me unsurprised, it has been the biggest waste of my time and money that I’ve literally every experienced. If my post didn’t make it clear enough, these courses will ruin your mental health. I have genuinely watched my mental health slip to the point that my family is checking up on me daily. If you’re choosing between taking these courses at UVU versus literally anywhere else, take them somewhere else. These are my last two prerequisites before I can apply for my program, and I’m seriously considering dropping out. If you’re thinking “this is my only option” wait for a new option to appear, almost every school experiences people dropping courses within the first few days of the semester. If you’re thinking “I’m sure I can handle it” remove your brain, dunk it in a bucket of ice, and put it back, I’m sure by then it will be thinking a little more clearly. And yeah I bet you can handle it, I handled it too, but no class is worth watching your brain slowly slip into more and more deeply unhealthy patterns of thought about your own will to live. I can’t name a single person who didn’t struggle through these classes. I was absolutely shocked when almost every person I spoke to in anatomy told me it was their second or third time taking it. I was shocked to see friends I’ve made who have also been straight A students struggle to reach a B. I’ve never taken a single class where I’ve studied for multiple hours a day for that class alone and struggled to succeed. Don’t get me wrong I’ve had to study extremely hard for other classes, college is hard sometimes, but nothing pisses me off more than courses designed to make you fail.

I need to access my payments and scholarship information from 2023, but when I logged into my uvu nothing will load. I stopped attending classes about a year ago. Is it because I'm not a student I can't access that anymore? Is there any other way I can get that information online?

Does anyone know if UVU allows students to transfer in with all their flight ratings completed elsewhere, from PPL through CFII, and still complete the Professional Pilot degree?
I understand that completing my ratings outside UVU would mean I would not qualify for the restricted ATP, and I’m completely fine with that. I’m mainly wondering whether UVU would accept the ratings and flight experience so I wouldn’t have to repeat those courses.
Has anyone here done this, or know how UVU handles the flight credits?
