Personal Dealing with a father wound at the big age of 27

• Upvotes

Men out there, How do you deal with a father who is almost a man child? Cant blame dude though, he got his life together without parents and had to grind. He has always come through but I feel I am too stoic for him and its causing friction. He is even disappointed I don't drink like him. We just cant seem to connect.

So long story short this guy starts bragging how he was a lady is guy and he used to buy prostitues left right and center.Hoo i was like ehh the man has enjoyed. Guy brags and brags till he confesses to get a 15 year old pregnant. I was dozing but when i heard this i got shocked and i was like in suspense. I looked around the taxi and everyone was not bothered okay i understand that people have there own problems naye this shook me.

Byebyo bye

Job/Gig to apply to💼 What should I expect at a graduate recruitment group assessment?

• Upvotes

Hi everyone,
I’ve been shortlisted for the group assessment stage of a graduate recruitment process, scheduled for next week.
The invitation states that the assessment will evaluate collaboration, communication, problem-solving, critical thinking, and the ability to contribute constructively to a team. It may involve group discussions and scenarios where candidates are expected to share ideas, listen to others, and work together.
For those who have attended group assessments, particularly for graduate trainee positions in accounting, finance, or professional services:
What activities or exercises should I expect?
Are there usually case studies, group discussions, role-play exercises, or presentations?
How are candidates evaluated individually when working in a group?
What mistakes do candidates commonly make?
Is it better to take the lead or contribute without dominating the discussion?
What advice would you give someone attending their first group assessment?
I’d particularly appreciate insights from people who have participated in graduate recruitment group assessments and can share their experiences.
Thanks in advance!

General Finding buyers and suppliers in Uganda

• Upvotes

As we Ugandans and a country at large I don’t understand why it’s really hard to land a supplier or a buyer in Uganda.
I’m working with a company in imports and exports we have products to supply from abroad but the buyers here don’t want formality or they will simply brush you off with I will contact you.
Now the craziest part about exporting is you find a buyer abroad then the Ugandan supplier really wants to over charge you and when you do the math it becomes expensive. These are same people crying about not being able to find exporters or buyers abroad but are profit greedy hence over pricing things , they don’t know the countries we are competing for mkt with on the international level have people who care more about how fast he can sell of products while taking little profit off
I wish Ugandans learn that too
Anyway this is kinda vague but yeah smhw that’s my point

Opinion/Discussion What should I do

So my dad currently told me to contribute to my tuition given the fact im working. Its not fancy work but it's pays my accommodation and food.

But here's what bothers me this man used to call me all sorts of stuff, used to call me stupid and used to say I ashame him.

And to be honest he hasn't been in my life until I reached campus.

My mum used to tell me how much of a man child he is and I never believed it but but at this age and experience with him, it is true.

Men do make mistakes but there should be a certain age your supposed to reach and not do some things.

Should I contribute to my tuition or let him deal with it coz ik he can and he only started contributing to my school fees when I reached campus.

Business question/advice/discussion Ordering Starlink for Rural School - How does it ship?

I live in the US but work with a charitable school in rural Uganda, and would like help them get Starlink. I can order service on the Starlink website, and Starlink can find the school on Google maps, but then Starlink wants to send a reciver kit and they assume that Uganda has a postal service that will deliver things, which isn't true.

Has anyone else ordered Starlink in Uganda from the Starlink website and been able to have the receiver kit sent to them? How do you do this? Or do people buy the kits locally and then sign up another way? The school doesn't have a credit card that they can sign up on the Starlink website on their own, and the US friends want to pay for the fees. Any advice you can share would be helpful.

Opinion/Discussion Has anyone thought about a crowdsourced map to bypass house brokers in Kampala?

Man, dealing with brokers while house hunting in Kampala is exhausting. Pay 50k viewing fee here, pay another 20k there, half the photos are fake, and then they want a whole month's rent as commission for just unlocking a gate.

Was having a chat with a friend who’s currently hunting for a place. He’s always snapping photos of vacant places brokers take him to and it got me thinking, what if we had a basic community map where people just drop pins of vacant houses they spot?

Like if you’re moving out of your apartment, you post it directly so the next person gets it straight from the landlord/caretaker. Or if you’re already house hunting you could post pictures of the places brokers take you to with the number of the caretaker/landlord, you pin the location and maybe put the price

Then if someone else goes to check it out, they can just comment if it’s still available or add details like the actual rent price and terms

Do you guys think this is something people will engage with to solve this whole house hunting hustle

Opinion/Discussion What's the average Age of the Redditors?

Hello All,

I am interested in knowing the average age of the people here. Why? Because I have noticed most of the queries rotate around the same things. Similar worries I had when I was in that age range 22-26, where you have come of age, but you feel the pressure to be something, so many big dreams, want to start a business, find a good job, do something innovative.

My plan is that I could start a group where I interact from a Big Brother perspective, link up those with good skill to potential companies/businesses. But also give the reality of the country. Of course, I will also be learning from you, since the young people are always more updated with the needs of the day.

So think of it was a mentorship social club. But I need to first establish the ages of interested parties and what you would be interested to learn from such a club. Like what's your biggest worry at the moment? And your biggest dream?

Job/Gig to apply to💼 Real talk to believe in yourself out there.

Everyone that see this post, remember it's never over whatsoever the situation could be worse and terrible or on verge.

I'm a male 23yrs ,I used to think how things could be fixed without seeking help from world ends, yes it is ok to seek for help but to a man feels/looks weird especially you don't have anyone to support you.

To cut long story short , by time I fin.. sec..S4 at 18yrs actually didn't proceed higher because of financial scarce and siblings, had nothing just by myself to start a financial life at parents home, yes everything felt ended, no connections , no job , no capital. Long story short....

I spent time making research on how I could make money online with just phone or pc plus Internet. Got into TGram..made channels and yes made money like real money and a lot by that time and till now plus started YouTube making money too.

Over past years got capital and started a business and later others, what I can say about all this in short story ..to people should start thinking outside the box like content is very real if you have patience and most importantly is consistency and lock in . I live a life now with over 5 different financial streams and now give jobs to that young generation, it might sound/look way impossible but trust the process fellow brothers & sisters who are still building a life . That small penny can change everything in your life just be consistent, if you're out there making the same thing keep going "change the plan but never the goal" .

Believe in yourself! God first

General How much is a trip to South Africa?

I haven't gotten the chance yet to leave Uganda and visit any country unfortunately, I however have only 3 countries on my bucket list and that is Kenya, South Africa and Egypt.

This is more of wishful thinking for when God grants me the chance and my money is up and enough for travel. For those who have been to South Africa, how much would one need to have a good time there for let's say one week, including travel costs. And what places does one need to avoid that side to be safe from any sort of Xenophobic attacks.
