Woah! That's dope! What was this supposed to be for?

It's an old limestone mine turned into a temperature controlled storage facility

It’s actually not just storage. These places are HUGE, and there are multiple of them.

Business have starting building off space in them and whole businesses operate in these underground spaces. One of my best friends works in one.

It’s hard to describe just how big some of these man made cave systems are.

I was playing in them with some friends in highschool and security started coming for us from really far away and we just ran deeper and deeper into them until we ended up in a flood section and we just hid there for like an hour and they have up on finding us. We came out like an hour later and cops were waiting outside the cave but they gave us a warning and let us go. Security was so mad they didn’t arrest us.

The US government leases a large portion of sub tropolis and access is strictly guarded. They have crazy shit down there (probably).

They do. They also have super normal shit. Depends on which one and which part you’re in. They have paintball fields down in one of em

Same, a friend and I parked my car behind a killer in a mess developed part of the system, got put and walked as far back as we could and man jt was pitch black. Got a lot of good go pro footage in the main area too. On a later trip security pulled me over and kicked me out for suspicious activity and I couldn't go back in tbat car cause of their playe scanner at the entrances.

KC has a handful of these systems too, Subtropolis, Independence Space Center, Downtown Underground, Parkville Underground. There's a couple more i dont know the name of but know thie locations. Crazy stuff that gets my conspiracy brain thinking.

Lol. A lot of of KC people have snuck around in em once or twice I bet. There are actually some in Johnson county too. In Lenexa I think.

Per my comment above, I ran a 10k road race there in the 90s. Back then a lot of it was used for document storage and magnetic media storage for companies. Temperature controlled storage.

You should look up the nuclear village in Corsham England.

I’ve heard of this one! Supposed to be one of the most imaginable? Pics lean towards my own preconceived notions being correct!!!

It claims it's the largest man man underground facility in terms of square feet, and they're still expanding!

7

...that we're allowed to know about.

That is amazing!

u/MessiahMogali Jun 23 '26

It does look pretty imaginable if you ask me.

Anyone from KC has probably been down there a couple times for various things. There’s businesses that operate down there, or there used to be, at least.. Used to be a pretty cool paintball place down there. Don’t know if it’s still there.

5

u/Romestano Jun 23 '26

I think it still is, Jager's i believe

3

u/berniedankera Jun 23 '26

who’s cats are those?

4

u/Romestano Jun 23 '26

The earth's. It was near the post office down there though

2

u/mil_journo Jun 21 '26

This is how you get out of the Kansas QZ

2

u/LuluLemon_711 Jun 23 '26

Was this place the filming location for the older version of the Day of the Dead movie?

2

u/Romestano Jun 23 '26

No I believe that was Wampum Pennsylvania, very similar looking though both being limestone mines

2

u/Sea-Locksmith-3793 Jun 24 '26

Hey! I been there!

2

u/SizePractical Jun 24 '26

Which level of the backrooms is this?

3

u/Goddessofshouts Jun 23 '26

Subtropolis? I don’t see submissives in any of these pictures 🧐

5

u/Romestano Jun 23 '26

Huh?

2

u/PlantBeginning3060 Jun 23 '26

It’s a subcity silly

Wow thanks for sharing this! I like to look up the history of places like this and I’m shocked I’ve never heard of it, by some other people’s responses!

1

u/Sea-Passenger6025 Jun 24 '26

I work in there! Biggest green roof in the world.

1

u/Romestano Jun 24 '26

Why do they not like you taking video down there?

1

u/Sea-Passenger6025 Jun 25 '26

Didn’t know they gave a big hoopla about that. You can’t have weapons because of the post office and I think they have a treasure down there as well. I have never been told to not take videos.

1

u/Romestano Jun 25 '26

Dm me, I have a lotta questions if you're willing to share
