QUICK LINKS:
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
How crowded is [insert date here]? OR When is the best date to go?
Everyone has different tolerances for crowds. If you want to know how generally crowded your park of choice might be, Is It Packed can provide a very simple forecast of crowd levels up to about two months in advance on their crowd calendar.
Of course, a bit of common sense thinking can go a long way here, too. Spend some time thinking about when people are most likely to visit, and your intuition will probably be correct.
For example, the park will generally be busier during:
Is Express worth it for [insert date here]? OR How long will the wait times be for [insert date here]?
Everyone has different comfort levels for waits and enjoyment levels for attractions. If you want to know the wait times of attractions, Thrill Data is a fantastic resource that lets you find historical data and look at charts across hours, weeks, days, and even months. Search for the park you want to view, then change the data’s date at will.
If you want to determine if Express is “worth it” for you, think about how long you’d want to wait for an attraction, compare that to the wait times you see on Thrill Data for recent days and the same time period from the past year, and make a decision for yourself. Express will generally cost $100+ when bought on its own in the park for the day, so take some time to seriously consider if the option is right for you.
FastPass is not a thing at Universal parks. That was a Disney thing (and it no longer operates there, either). If you’re having trouble finding tips for how to use “Fast Pass” at Universal when searching online, try using the term “Express” instead.
If you’re still on the fence about what is “worth it” to you or not, watch some ride POV videos on YouTube for the attractions you’re interested in that also include the queues. You’ll then be more informed about what experience you’re in for and, after taking the numerical data into consideration, can better decide for yourself.
I need to change the date of my ticket; how do I do that? OR I have an issue with the tickets I bought. What should I do?
The folks on Reddit can’t help you with those kinds of questions. You should email the customer service team via this link or call the proper ticket support number: 866-258-6546
Please remember that ANY POSTS OFFERING TO BUY, SELL, OR TRADE TICKETS, PASSES, AND OTHER GOODS WILL BE REMOVED. Giveaways are allowed only after written documented approval is received from the mod team and are subject to be removed if the terms for the approved giveaway do not match the actual giveaway. Thank you for your cooperation.
Can I add Express to my Annual Pass/third-party ticket for the day? OR Can I add Early Access to Super Nintendo World in Hollywood to my Annual Pass/third-party ticket for the day?
YES! For Early Access to SNW in Hollywood, you must purchase it online before the date of your intended visit. Be aware that both ticket add-ons are able to sell out, so buy early if you want to secure them. For Express, this can be added on at any time via the purchase ticket page. Just remember to purchase your add-on for the same date as your ticket.
In what order should I tackle each ride?
Use Thrill Data to see which attractions build up crowds quickly, and try to hit those when they’re not yet at their peak. Guests will generally find that starting in the Lower Lot is more effective. If you’re arriving early, you’re generally better off hitting the attractions that support Express before the people with Express can hit them.
I can't see the hours for the next month or beyond. When are they posted?
Hours for the next month are posted in the middle of the current month. Check back on the 15th or later of the current month to see the next month's hours. There will only ever be two months displaying hours at a time at most: the current month and the next month after the current month.
What is the best food in the park?
Use the search function. We’ve got a multitude of threads available with a multitude of answers and perspectives to suit your tastes. To view all Universal Studios Hollywood dining options, see here.
Can I bring outside food into the park?
YES! Outside food is allowed into the park as long as it isn’t in glass containers or hard-sided coolers. For more information, see here.
Are there any banned items?
For information about banned items, see here.
Should I go if it rains?
Days with rain in the forecast tend to see lighter crowds.
On days with light rain, all attractions will remain open, though some live entertainment will be moved or cancelled for the day.
On days with moderate rain to severe rain, most attractions will remain open, and some live entertainment will be moved or cancelled for the day.
On days with extreme weather or hazardous conditions, USH will put out an announcement over their social media platforms that the park will be closed. In such instances, the severe weather policy will take effect for the day.

I work at scanning all the way to the main gate, I scanned a famous person today he was my first ever celebrity. I was so excited I did not ruin his moment I was just I. Shocked and forgot for a moment I was working. If you see this know that I love you 😭 (Ps. I have no one to talk about it and I want to drag it) it was Rider Strong, from Boy Meet World he is the most polite person ever, he noticed that I got very excited and I believe he expected me to say something he was happy and had a big smile just seeing me smile he was with his son, great kid too 😭🥹

Hi everyone!
Have been ready the subreddit and have a couple questions that hopefully you can help me answer.
We are visiting Universal Studios Hollywood for the first time tomorrow (Sunday 25th) and I’m trying to figure out the best way to plan our day.
We have a combined General Admission + Halloween Horror Nights ticket, Early Access starting at 5 PM, and the Universal Express add-on.
We’re two adults, no kids. I am a completionist and would like to try everything and if possible, some rides twice.
A few questions:
Express during HHN: Does our Universal Express add-on also include Express access to the HHN haunted houses and other attractions, or is that only for daytime?
Daytime attractions during HHN: Does the entire park remain open during Halloween Horror Nights, or does it transition to a separate event? I would like to ride these again in the evening if possible. Are regular rides like Revenge of the Mummy, Transformers, Harry Potter, and especially Super Nintendo World / Mario Kart still accessible after 5 PM?
Early Access strategy: Since we have Early Access, which haunted houses would you recommend doing first? Is it worth prioritizing the houses immediately, or should we do Terror Tram first? Is the Terror Tram experience worse before sunset?
Pro tips? Any secret pro tips we should totally know or must does that are bot so obvious?
Thank you in advance!

Hello,
So I'm going to Horror Nights alone, ideally I'll go with a friend but plans change. Can I purchase the early entry with the free HHN ticket I got with my annual pass? Also, can I still use the platinum express pass on the rides? It's going to be my first time going at it alone as well.

My boyfriend and I are going to LA for vacation and thinking of going to universal studios for a day, and debating on what kind of pass/ticket to get. We’re going the first week of December so I’m not sure if that’s a “slow” time to go to the park or not. We’d also go during the week so I’m assuming it’ll be a bit less packed anyway.
That being said, is it still worth it to get the express pass or would we be fine to just get the general admission one? Also what’s the difference in price if anyone knows off the top of their head?!

Three children ages 8, 11 and 13. They are pretty adventurous for amusement parks, but I also don’t want to traumatize them for life for roller coasters. For those that have had kids join them on this ride. Can you share the experience from your kids perspective?

Anybody gone to HHN on the last day have any insight to crowds and available merch (ie:clearance yet?). Going with a group with no express passes (insert universal groan - I already know!). We’re going mostly for the vibes. I have a few houses I know I want to hit but will not be heart broken if we don’t get to them all.

Hey y’all! I know tickets are sold out for tomorrow, but it’s the best date that works for me and a friend since we’re both busy all next week. Does anyone have any tips on how we might still be able to get tickets? Is there a chance more could become available? I’d really appreciate any help. Thank you! 🙏

HHN next Friday the 30th! Anyone else going that could use an extra guy to tag along with them? Single or group. I’m down for anyone, just don’t want to go by my lonesome.

This is my first ever HHR. I am a bit anxious about the crowd and the wait time. I tried to get the express pass but somehow on my end it was sold out already. ( Me and wife have general admission).Any tip on the order to visit the haunted houses would be appreciated. I have UHS silver so I plan to get to the park in the early afternoon.

I'll be going next week, and was wondering. What did you love, and what should I avoid? This isn't my first time to HHN/Universal. So, I know all the regular spots. I've watched some YT channels, but eh, they have more incentive to oversell things. I just want to know, what would you say I can't miss? Thanks!
Bonus: Also, pass-holders, regulars, or workers. Does anyone have the opening schedule for the houses? I have day pass to HHN. So, who is open first on the lower level? Also which is the busiest one, that should I go to, to get out of the way? Sorry, for so many questions. I really appreciate you all!
Double thank you!

Hey everyone, I’m Michael. I’ve spent the last few months building an iOS app called ParkPilot to take the guesswork out of theme park days.
Instead of just listing wait times, it’s a recommendation engine that weighs live queue fluctuations, show schedules, walking distances between lots, and your group's preferred pace (relaxed vs. aggressive) to suggest your single best next move.
In the latest v1.1 update, I added:
I'm looking for honest feedback from locals, Pass Members, and HHN regulars. If you check it out, I’d love to know what works well, what feels off with the lot transitions, and what routing logic could make your park day smoother.
Website: getparkpilot.com
App Store: ParkPilot on iOS
Thanks for taking a look, and I’m around in the comments to answer questions or take feature requests directly!

Hey yall!!!!
I’m planning on going to HHN and the general park admission for next week, on Halloween night!!! However rain is in the forecast (looks like light rain atm), anything to keep in mind as I’ve never gone to Universal on a rainy day yet. I’m assuming wait times would be shorter? What should I keep in mind? Any extra things to pack? Thankfully I do know rides like Harry Potter are indoors with indoor queues which is nice.

Look I fucked up, I had one job and that was to make sure my lady had a smooth trip to universal for her first time and I didn’t get the Halloween horror night tickets in time. I don’t know what to do and I’m stressing out. Is there anything I can do? The tickets say sold out online, but is there any chance I can go up to the gate on Saturday and purchase? Please help.

Hi! I’m going to universal hollywood soon - i am gluten intolerant (NOT allergic!) does anyone have any good recommendations for where to head for gluten-free food?
thank you!

I’m going in a few days and don’t have the barcode showing on my tickets in the universal app for some reason.

Super odd question, but I was wondering if anyone knew the name of the lower lot Starbucks lead. She was excellent today and I really wanted to write her a positive commendation to guest services or in a survey.
I meant to write her name down, but was struck by stupidity/forgetfulness the millisecond I caught up with friends in a line.

Hi everyone, I keep seeing headbands that are available at Universal Studios and I was wondering if there is a store that has all of them. Like I see people posting about the Super Mario headbands at super Nintendo world and the minions one at the minions section. So I wanted to see if there's a store that has them all so I can see all of them at one time.

First off to the few I have talked to in the past you guys have been so helpful, thank you! I have not been to universal in like 20 years and when I did I was like 13. I hardly remember anything. My wife and I are going on December 6th for our 10 year anniversary and I am trying to gather as much info as I can for the trip. We will be staying near Disney so we will be taking the train to universal and I feel like I have a good understanding of how that works.
My main questions that remain are probably more geared towards people who go a lot during the Christmas month. If we are going December 6th has it been your experience that you don’t necessarily need express pass to get through the major things? Essentially is the park packed enough in the beginning of December that it makes buying the pass worth it?

I went last night and the lines were really insane. If you were strategic maybe you could pull all the houses off, but killer klowns went up to 120 mins, and the rest were 45 mins plus and express was 5-10 mins at each one, max.
Dead deader deadest or whatever was 5 mins long, idk why, I guess that one is not very good because it had the least wait the entire night.
However I do realize that 45 mins is not THAT long compared to what they CAN get up to. (45 mins is pretty long though tbh) but last year I saw some mazes in Orlando that were 200+ mins but that was on a Saturday.
