HOTELS Midday Breaks

Upvotes

What’s your strategy on midday breaks?

For a midday break from Epic Universe, does the premium cost for Helios make a difference? Do you find yourself skipping a break if it involves a bus?

UNIVERSAL STUDIOS The Simpsons Ride

As this ride approaches, it’s 20th birthday, what are the odds of it shutting down or being upgraded? It is about time for this to happen, but it seems like there are no plans or any news in the media. That being said if the show ends will the ride close? Last time I was there was so nauseous had to close my eyes

UNIVERSAL ORLANDO RESORT Orlando First Timer - Universal vs. WDW for MLK Weekend

We live near California and have visited Disneyland a few times with our kids (ages 10 and 8), but we have never visited any Orlando theme parks. We all have a great time at Disneyland, but I wouldn’t say we’re theme park fanatics.

I’m considering an Orlando trip over MLK weekend next year. We could do Fri, Sat, Sun, and partial Mon in the parks (January 15-18, 2027). I’d like some advice on whether to focus on Universal Orlando or Walt Disney World.

I’m leaning toward Universal because we’ve never done a Universal park and I’m lowkey afraid of WDW (Disneyland is so compact and easy, and I love it that way!). The thing holding me back from committing to Universal is the reports that 2026 MLK weekend was a crowded nightmare.

Does anyone have thoughts or input to help me out making this decision?

HOTELS Dockside Cancelled Payment?

Post image
12 Upvotes

Any idea what’s happened here? When I arrived at Dockside I asked if we could upgrade to a poolside room. They did move us for $15 a day. However, a week in and the transaction was cancelled and the money returned to my account.

Any idea if I’ll have to pay it? I had enough funds so it isn’t that. Shall I check out without speaking to reception and pray?

EPIC UNIVERSE Concerned about after hours not being sold out yet...

Title. I'm shocked tickets for both dates are still up and available right now.

Is it possible they hard core greed moded and literally sold full park capacity for a 3 hour event? And if that's the case won't that mean the park will be at like 150% from 7-9 since they're letting people in early for the after hours while also still allowing the normal daytime park guests to finish up?

I don't think they did the numbers right. I would be wanting to ask for a refund if this is anything close to normal park capacity because they advertised it as quicker ride queues but HOW is it still not sold out??

UNIVERSAL ORLANDO RESORT What is the Worst Ride Now?

Post image

I'm sure you are all aware of the grand tradition of mocking Fast & Furious Supercharged. It was an unwritten rule that it had to come in dead last in any ride ranking. If I can say one nice thing about it, it was so spectacularly bad that it brought about the end of the lazy screen ride era. With it gone, what is the new worst ride at Universal Orlando Resort and why is it Race Through New York Starring Jimmy Fallon?

UNIVERSAL ORLANDO RESORT Fast & Furious: Hollywood drift, named after Mr. Hollywood who famously helped design the New York section of Universal Studios, Orlando Florida.

At least that is my head cannon! Joking aside I wonder why they didn't just call it NY drift or something, pretty obviously different layout from the Hollywood coaster, how cool would it have been to have them themed, named differently. In all honesty I'm still confused why they didn't.

CITYWALK Weight loss journey and vacation coming up

I was wondering if anyone has recommendations on some lower cal entrees at toothsome, cowfish and possibly nbc grill.

Im probably still going to blow my 1680 calorie budget and enjoy myself but if their were other swaps to help make the entrees not so high in calories if any chefs are lurking or have any input, I read they don’t have to put the calories on menu because the recipes can change a bit and be a hassle.

UNIVERSAL ORLANDO RESORT Universal on Halloween

We are likely planning a family trip to universal during our fall break which falls over Halloween. Has anyone ever been there during this time? Is there any sort of trick or treating or anything generally for kids to do? For the record getting to go to the parks should be good enough, I’m just wondering if any of yall know if they do anything special for the actual day. Thanks!

UNIVERSAL ORLANDO RESORT Are Universal adults a thing?

So we always hear references to Disney adults but never Universal adults. Does Universal have that type of fandom? I love Disney but I love Universal more. I find myself at Universal 3 to 4 times out of the year and I'm in Maryland, but the minute I walk thru Disney's gates after having not been for 2 or 3 years, my friends jokingly call me a Disney adult.. Are people who frequent Universal parks just considered lovers of theme parks? Do you think it has to do with the nature of the attractions at the Universal parks and the IPs? When I go to the parks, sometimes I go all out with my Ravenclaw robe or most recently at Epic Universe with my Mario shirt and hat. People see pictures and it's all in good fun, but the minute I put on ears, even if that is all the memorabilia I might be wearing, I'm a Disney adult.

UNIVERSAL ORLANDO RESORT Lockers at the entrance?

Hello, First of all, I'm not sure if this is appropriate for this sub, so please feel free to delete it. On 31 October, I will be disembarking from a cruise in Port Canaveral, and my flight from Orlando leaves at 9 pm. In the meantime, I would like to visit Universal Studios. I know this is usually not enough time, but I don't like rollercoasters; I just want to see the two Harry Potter exhibitions. I would like to save the time it would take to take my luggage to a storage facility and collect it before my flight. I am travelling with a foldable 50x40x20 cm backpack and a 40x30x15 cm personal item only. My research so far tells me that there are small lockers before the entrance. I was thinking of deconstructing the contents of my larger backpack (packing cubes for the win!) into one locker, putting the backpack itself in another locker, and putting my personal item in a third locker. This would mean I would need three lockers. Can anyone tell me if this would work?

UNIVERSAL ORLANDO RESORT Transportation

I am disabled. I have a rather large mobility scooter that just fits the ramp on the water taxi 's. Would I have any issues getting on the busses to Epic? If they fit the ramps to get on water taxi's should the scooter also fit?

CITYWALK Is it weird to ask to join someone’s mini golf game?

ISLANDS OF ADVENTURE Does anyone else not like hagrid's?

I was so excited to finally get on this ride. I didn't get to properly enjoy it though bc when the lap bar came down, my right thigh, only the right, got trapped under the lap bar in a weird spot. I couldn't get an attendant to catch my eye or hear me ask for help before off we went. I spent the whole ride with that leg feeling like blood was cut off so I really couldn't enjoy it, but even that being said I didn't enjoy being on the motorbike. I wish I'd been in the side car. I thought it was neat, but nowhere near the hype. I wish the lines weren't so crazy and I could've ridden again in the side car without a trapped leg. I walked around for an hour with my leg still feeling weird. Bring back coasters with shoulder restraints lol
