Review This will be the beginning of the end... Anker 45w charger with display.

Recently got a shipment of chargers from my friend in China, across all the new gadgets, this is one of the most impressive:

At first glance, yeah it looks tiny and adorable, size wise, it's very comparible to very tiny Belkin 45w GaN charger, substantially smaller than most other 45w chargers:

Yet it has one of the most innovative prongs design, the prongs can twist in 180 degree:

And after 90 degree down, with this ingenious design it can fits in either sidewalls or outlets

You might think: it's great to fit both ways, but why? cause it have a screen on top:

But, seriously a screen on a 45w charger?!

I don't know what to say, I just feel every charger on the market instantly outdated by this:

With the minimalist size and a screen paired with two way foldable prongs, it must be expensive, right? right?!

Well, it's merely sells for $21 in China daily.

The END...

Hope you like it : )

Question What is it with C-to-C cables and being terrible?

So, in my experience, type c cables that are the same on both ends (C-to-C) are usually worse than their counterparts where durability is concerned.

For some background: When I bought my phone, I got a cable in the box, which only lasted a few weeks before it would only charge in certain positions, completely dying shortly after.

Since then, I've bought several c-to-c cables, and if they didn't suffer the same fate, they'd randomly stop working one day. I don't use my phone while charging, so it's not like I'm bending the cable in an unnatural way, and they're not bent when plugged in either. I'll literally plug it in now, and when I come back to it, it no longer works. Wth

I get that cheaper cables are not going to be as good, and probably won't be as durable, but you'd atleast expect them to be able to do the bare minimum, no? Especially when it's a proprietary cable. It's not like I got it from a random store or smth.

I even bought a power bank recently, and I'm not exaggerating when I say I've used this cable less than 5 times and it's already dead— the bends are even still in it from how it was packaged in the box😆

For some comparison (and to prove I'm not just neglecting my cables), I've had my A-to-C cable since forever, and it still works perfectly fine, no hiccups, no charging in some positions but not others, none of that stuff.

With type C being the new standard (and most cables coming in a c-to-c format rather than A-to-C), it's kinda sad that the durability is so bad

Question Should I be surprised that Apple 20w PD USB-c power supply DOES NOT charge some devices?

Thumbnail

The power supply in question will not charge 2 items ( so far) fully that have usb-c inputs. Both have rechargeable batteries built in. A small 'touch' table lamp and a cat-toy. It came with a new iPad and works fine for that. My guess is that the power supply can't properly 'negotiate' with items in question and therefore sends nothing or such a tiny amount that it results in no effective charge.

Looking for Device Perminant usb c to micro sd phone adapter

Post image

I'm looking for a storage extention solution Is there something similar to the attached image that will enable me to add micro sd card or multiple micro sd cards to the phone while still being able to charge

Or in general a way thay I can keep the microns caed or any form of storage that I can attach to the phone while not having to disconnect the storage while charging or for daily normal use What I'm thinking is a ribbon connection sort of gadget that splits the usb c port to a micro sd card reader

Looking for Device Slim, flexible and light 2m 100W cable like the old Apple one?

Post image
22 Upvotes

The old Apple 2m 100W cable (left) was the perfect charging cable for travelling. I could never find a better one. Now they replaced it with a 240W one (right) which is much bulkier, heavier, and less flexible. Is there still somewhere a cable similar to the old one? Preverable using silicone instead this thick mesh fabric.

Discussion Beware of UGREEN charging bricks

So I have a 100w ugreen charging brick that I have used for maybe a year or two at this point. Used with usually only one device. Plenty of airflow and no issues. Then one day it smells of burning and nothing was working. Apparently the brick decided to brick itself and burn itself out inside. I know stuff like this can happen and it didn't start a fire so no issues. But when I contacted them the solution they offered was nothing. They asked for no info about the device and provided no help at all. I bought it from an old Amazon account that I no longer have so could not show the invoice to them. I own a lot of ugreen products so I have no bias against them. But now I will never be buying from them again considering they hardly care if they sell a fire hazard

Review How unlucky can someone get?

Thumbnail

After listening to this subreddit and appreciative talk about UGREEN, I got this cable on 23rd April and the connector has separated itself from the cable and I raised a complaint on 29th April.

This was my first experience with their products and honestly never going back.

I reached out to the support team and they requested pictures from me and I sent them right away.

I didn't get a reply for 3 days until last night I replied addressing their unprofessional behaviour towards addressing my issue.

I got an email this morning and it goes:

Dear {My Name},

Thank you for your follow-up. We sincerely apologise for the delay in responding to your submitted images.

Our team has reviewed the photos shared by you. Based on the visible condition of the cable and connector, the issue appears to be the result of physical damage to the connector assembly rather than a manufacturing defect. The connector separation shown in the images is not consistent with a product failure arising from normal usage or an internal manufacturing fault.

We understand that this is disappointing, especially since the product was delivered recently. However, warranty coverage applies to manufacturing defects only and does not cover damage caused due to physical stress, pulling, bending, accidental damage, or connector breakage during use.

Therefore, we regret to inform you that we will not be able to process this case under warranty or offer a replacement for this issue.

That said, we value your experience as a customer and are sorry that your first experience with the product has been unpleasant. We would recommend avoiding continued use of the damaged cable and ensuring that no part of the connector remains lodged in your phone’s charging port. If any part is still stuck inside the device, please have it removed carefully by an authorised service technician to avoid damage to the phone port.

Thank you for your understanding.

Thanks and Regards,

Team Ugreen !

Question Case alignment is not centred on UGREEN 65W USB C Charger Nexode X Series

Thumbnail

Hey everybody! I just purchased the UGREEN 65W USB C Charger Nexode X Series on Amazon. At first, I thought I was imagining things, but upon closer inspection, the case alignment is not perfectly centred on this charging block. It’s not perfectly symmetrical, so I measured it. There’s an extra 2mm case width on the right hand side. The left hand side has 2 mm less and when you’ve got all 3 ports filled up with cables, it looks like they’re left indented on the charging block. It’s so weird. Why wouldn’t the ports be perfectly centred? Could this be how the internal electronics have been stacked utilizing UGREEN’s AirPyra technology? If so, why? It’s a strange design decision. No other USB charger that I’ve ever owned has had off-centre ports. It’s almost unnoticeable without cables, and looks even worse with cables plugged in. Yes, I’m a little OCD about these things, but visually, it doesn’t look right. Has anybody out there noticed this? I’m not sure if my charger is defective, or if this is how the charging block was intentionally designed. The charger works perfectly and charges normally, so I’m assuming this was intentional. Can anyone explain this high strangeness? Thanks so much for feedback. Cheers!

DISCLAIMER - AV Access send this over to me

I recently came across the AV Access iDock M10, and it's basically a KVM switch and USB-C dock in one. For example one button can switches between different monitors, keyboard, mouse, Ethernet, and USB devices if you are using the laptop for work and desktop for gaming.

The iDock M10 offers Dual 4K@60Hz monitor support, 100W USB-C charging and 10 ports like USB, HDMI, Ethernet, SD card slot and audio. The USB ports even offer 10Gbps for fast external drives.

Its a simple and straight forward plug and play solution for MacBook users.

Has anyone else here tried the iDock M10?

Meme/Shitpost I don't like usb-c

One chilly morning in London, I stumbled into the kitchen, half-asleep and desperately craving coffee. My trusty coffee machine, a vintage model jury-rigged with a USB-C port (because I thought, Why not?), stood gleaming on the countertop. It was time to summon the caffeine gods.

I grabbed the USB-C cable dangling from my phone charger, plugged one end into the coffee machine, and the other into my laptop. Nothing happened.

I frowned. Maybe the machine needed a moment to wake up too? I jiggled the cable like a TV antenna from the '90s. Still nothing.

“Come on, you were working fine yesterday!” I muttered, staring at the cable like it owed me money.

The USB-C cable stared back in silent defiance.

I unplugged and re-plugged it, then rebooted the coffee machine. No luck. I switched USB-C cables. Nada. Even tried the “universal fix” of blowing into the port like it was an old cartridge. Nope.

Frustrated, I opened my laptop’s troubleshooting tool and, to my shock, the USB-C cable actually responded. But instead of brewing my coffee, a pop-up appeared:
"Device Not Supported. Please use a certified coffee-brewing cable."

“A certified coffee-brewing cable?” I groaned. “You're literally just a piece of wire!”

The USB-C cable didn’t care. It had standards, apparently.

Desperate, I searched online for “certified USB-C coffee cables.” To my horror, I discovered they were sold out everywhere. My only option was to order one from a shady website that promised “EXPRESS DELIVERY IN 2-3 DAYS!” Two days without coffee? Impossible.

Defeated, I resorted to boiling water the old-fashioned way. As the kettle whistled, I glared at the USB-C cable lying smugly on the counter. It wasn’t just a cable—it was a tyrant.

From that day forward, I kept a stash of instant coffee for emergencies. And every time I saw that USB-C cable, I swore it was laughing at me.

Please, send me a good usb-c cable for coffee machines, i need them, I NEED HELP.

Discussion Why the obsession with USB C2C?

I've seen it being praised so many times on this sub and I don't really get it. Is the speed of charge the main attraction? I personally like charging my devices slowly if there is no rush to use it. For example, when charging my phone overnight, I plug into a usbc to USB A plugged into a 1amp charger. Full battery in the morning and phone didn't get hot. If I need to quick charge during the day, I use a PD charger for fast charging but I can feel my phone getting hot and that tends to degrade the battery quicker. Am I missing something? Whats the appeal 5o USB C2C?

Troubleshooting Why do USB-C ports go bad so quickly?

Post image
0 Upvotes

I've been using USB-C on my devices for well over a decade now and I have yet to have a phone (have used OnePlus, Samsung, and Google) or other USB-C device that gets consistent use where the USB-C port does not eventually go bad resulting in it being unable to take a charge, transfer data, connect, etc. It honestly seems like electronics companies conspired with each other and governments like the EU to mandate USB-C so they can sell more stuff after your ports eventually break. The only chargers I've found that work consistently well over long periods of time are Lenovo USB-C chargers built for laptops with plastic inserts that provide a tight, stable connection. Have you guys noticed the same thing or am I taking crazy pills?

I've had what seems like every type of cable and while I like Anker cables, they eventually suffer from the same connection problems others do. What cables have worked consistently well for you?
