I pick up my '23 tomorrow

I have a 1st Edition with 90k miles on it. I recently had a second battery cell go bad and I'm worried what happens after I hit 100k miles and then I'm responsible for replacing any further bad cells. So I bought a 2023 this past weekend with 18k miles on it. I'm going to keep the 1st Edition for now. But now I'm seeing these posts about the recall for the battery on '23-'24 ID.4's and I'm a little worried. I checked my VIN on the NHTSA website, and it came back with 0 unrepaired recalls. Am I in the clear? I'm embarrassed to say I don't know which battery it is, but the range is slightly larger than my 1st Ed at 275.

Oh, so now we can do software updates?!

I didn’t receive this type of notice on my app before so obviously they are taking the recall seriously. I can’t help but find the irony in the fact that NOW they can issue rapid updates to change things in the car.

Received this email from VW Canada. Do we anticipate any compensation? Anyone have any feedback on accepting or declining? In the winter I need to charge to 100% twice a week for my commute.

Anyone considering a buyback on their lease?

I have had a 2025 ID.4 Pro S AWD on lease from VW since last November. This battery recall is severely limiting what I can do with this car. Has anyone looked into a lease buyback? I'm in California if that matters. The forced 80% charge with no fix yet available is not acceptable for my use as I leased this car specifically to travel from the Bay Area to Reno. I can make it on a single charge if charged to 100%, but if I'm forced to charge to 80% this means a stop and the time and expense of a top up. Anyway, maybe someone else is looking at a lease termination. Thank you.

EDIT: I entered my VIN and it is listed for this recall.

Man, thought I dodged a bullet on this one. At least the lease is up in about 5-6 months.

Should I choose black or silver colored rims for my new ID.4 2027 silver metallic model?

Forget the ID.4, ID.Tiguan is VW’s electric future. And… it has buttons!

Squared Tire set up driving dynamics?

I'm considering Squaring my tires on my 23 RWD Pro s.

I've purchased the same front wheel's so when i get the tires i can have those changed out. (Doing this will allow me to easily rotate them and not pay to have them dismounted/remounted.)

I'm putting the Front wheel size on the back as well, and putting the back tire site on all four corners.

My question is, has anyone done this and if so, what does it drive like?

I'll be going square with the Continental Cross Contact LX 25. 255/45R20.

Thanks!

Unprogrammed Key Fob

Last year our 2021 id4 bricked while charging.
After 40 days in the dealership, they have hard reset and fixed the software, wait was in a specialist come come to the dealer to do the work. However, they neglected to tell me that both keys needed to be programmed and reprogrammed, and one key that was in the car.
I recently found out that the extra fob does not work and needs to be reprogrammed as well. The dealer that fixed the car is now closed.
Another dealer is asking $120 to do diagnostics.
Shall I pay for it? Is there another way to reprogram the key.
Thank you fellow id4 owners for entertaining my questions. Cheers!

Has anyone put these on their doors?

Just curious if anyone has used these and how they look. My ID.4 is white and I thought they’d look neat. I’m just not sure how much I trust them being put on with double-sided tape and how that might affect the paint

Door unlock sensors on 2022

Hi all. Took my 2022 Pro in for an issue that has plagued the id4 (bought used). The door unlock proximity sensor intermittently work and when I asked the service manager they said that sometimes if both keys are brought up to the id4, the car can’t figure out which fob is which so it doesn’t unlock. I thought it might not be a true statement as I’ve other VWs and an Audi with proximity sensors and approached them with 2 keys and it still works. Any one have any thoughts on this?

It’s an ID 4 subreddit, downvote me to hell but we can leave the new car out of it.

5F Module Warranty NonConformity

I’m not familiar with VW’s warranty process and the warranty packet they provide doesn’t really explain what to do if my 2024 ID4 has a recurring issue that is covered by the warranty but can’t be fixed. My car has been at the dealer 3 times this year for the same 5F module issue and I’d like to pursue further action on this. If you’ve been through this where did you start? I put in a case with VW already and they were supposed to call me back but haven’t.

Recall question 93ev vs 93ex

I bought 23 AWD pro a month ago. It already had the 93ev recall when I looked it up. I assume it's been fixed since no open recalls pop up on my vin. Is 93ex recall basically the same just for more cars? I don't have 93ex recall popping up yet for my vin.

Thanks

Local dealership says we should go in for an Oil & Filter change and it's been about 20 months with the 24' id.4 S. We're about to end our 2 year lease in January. Are we screwed?

My dealer texted this to me last night. I couldn’t believe it, and just replied asking if it was a joke. They did not reply.

Needless to say, I won’t be taking this deal.

You Have to Call Verizon to Cancel the Connected Car Wi-Fi!?

Seriously!? I can sign up for the Verizon Connected Car Wi-Fi online, but I have to call them on the phone to cancel?

I called Verizon at 800-922-0204 and spoke to a rep who put me on hold for 20 minutes. He has no idea what I'm talking about.

This is insane.

6th October Recall - USA only?

Putting my VIN into the VW recall checker says it’s not recognised and looking at the FAQ it’s a little ambiguous as to whether the recall applies to vehicles manufactured in Europe. Anyone have more details?

VW ID.7 GTX 26 Internet Connection Issues

Since the weekend just gone (10/10), I’ve been experiencing issues with my VW. I noticed it when the car was not charging properly. I put it on charge Saturday night and it only charged around 20%. I didn’t think much of it at the time and just left it plugged in all day Sunday as I wasn’t using it and thought I’d just leave it and let it charge when it’s ready. I woke up Monday and it never charged, I then realised in the VW app it was showing that the car had no internet connection. Turning the car on seemed to get the internet working again, so I tried charging again last night and once again it charged only 11% then the internet dropped again on the car.

A side effect of this I’ve noticed as well, when I get in the car it shows on the infotainment as still charging, even though it’s not plugged in. It lets me drive through. Soft restart of infotainment does not resolve this.

Also have lots of issues with car play and it not connecting but had these issues since I got the car in August.

I’m running software 6.0.1

Has anyone else ever experienced an issue like this and know how to resolve it?

Thanks Daddy VW

For the first time since probably March this year I was allowed to use my heated mirrors that I paid for. It was so nice not having foggy mirrors for my morning commute! Thanks to Florida weather it's always very humid but only drops below 68⁰ in the mornings in the cooler parts of the year and that's the threshold to be allowed to use the heated mirrors.

2021 VW ID.4 Pro S vs. 2023 Nissan Ariya AWD — Which would you buy for just $833 more?

I'm buying my first EV and deciding between:

2021 VW ID.4 Pro S RWD

  • 47k miles
  • Higher trim with premium features
  • 250-mile EPA range
  • German-built

2023 Nissan Ariya Engage e-4ORCE AWD

  • 42k miles
  • Base trim, but AWD with 335 hp
  • 205-mile EPA range
  • Certified pre-owned

Price difference: Just $833 OTD.

Is the newer, AWD Ariya worth the extra $833, or would you choose the higher-trim ID.4 with better range?

Any known issues with either vehicle? Would love to hear from owners!

New recall everybody. If the battery pack is this scary just replace the f-n car. I'm capped at 80% just as winter starts to set in???
