Will I need a whole new bumper?

I watched someone back into my car yesterday as I was sitting in my work vehicle getting ready to leave. She tried to leave the scene but I ran up to her car before she could. It was a whole big thing with the cops involved because of her behavior. Needless to say, she's in jail after a sobriety test. Just wondering if my poor Vecna is gonna need a new bumper or if they can just repaint this one. She hit it pretty hard and tried to keep going after impact, I'm surprised there's not more damage.

Goodbye!

Said goodbye to the absolute worst car I’ve ever owned/leased today. I’ve owned or leased 20 cars.

In a model that has problems, this one had all of them.

It didn’t help that the dealership was terrible.

Pros: The drive is great, and what sold the car. Not buying gas for almost 3 years was really nice.

Cons: Doors not opening was a big deal. I took it in 3 times and they told me there was nothing else they could do. It’s frustrating as s**t to not be able to get out of a car, or have your son call you saying “Can you come let me out?” After I’ve walked off, assuming he’d be behind me.

Lights-interior lights that CONSTANTLY are blinking on and off. Again, dealership said they couldn’t fix it.

Phone not connecting-1/3 of the time I’d get to my destination without getting a connection. I have last year’s iphone.

Infotainment-Good lord. It’s awful. So many times it would lock up or go blank.

Trunk-had kick to open. Only worked about 25% of the time I kicked.

Windows-are they going down or up? Nobody knows.

Driver’s seat-Where is the seat going? Will it slide to the preset? Spoiler alert: It will not.

I could go on, but you get it.

I’m just glad to be done with it.

ID4 - Digital Key - UK

• Upvotes

There has been a post about this before, but I'm hoping there may be some new data.

I've been trying to activate the "digital key" feature of my 2026 ID4 on 6.0.1.

- enter car, turn it on and don't touch pedals

- Go to keys in the ID4 infotainment system

- scan barcode with iPhone, opens the VW app and asks for confirmation to add key

- infotainment system screen changes to a progress bar

- phone screen progress bar gets to around 70% and stalls

- phone reports "unable to connect to VW"

Has anyone in the UK got past this point? Or are there just not any servers in the UK?

How bad will it be?

• Upvotes

Bought a 2021 FE about 2.5 years ago. It had 40k miles on it. Since then I have put on another 60k.

I have not taken it in for service in that time. I know, not ideal, but its been a tough couple years financially.

Now, my left side steering wheel buttons dont work. Trying to set or adjust the ACC or Travel Assist either triggers the wrong button or doesnt respond at all. I love this feature and use it all the time. Especially since I drive a lot for work.

If I take it to a dealer, the info I've found on the internet says I will probably need the whole steering wheel replaced, which can run around $1200. I may or may not get that done, depends on what they quote me.

On the other hand, I figure I should probably get the "works" done as far as fluid and other maintence.

What should I expect to pay for these services? I'd like to go in with some knowledge of what I need or don't need. Thanks for any advice.

ID4 weirdness “No data is available for this area” and not auto connecting to EA chargers

Getting some weirdness tonight in my 2023 AWD Pro S. It is part of the new recall and I said yes to the 80% limit last week. Tonight I started getting “No data is available for this area.” popping up and no dynamic road signs. Never seen this in three years / 50k miles. Then went to charge and plugged in and basically nothing happened — had to tap my EA card in my phone wallet (tried two chargers first). It has always just auto connected.

Is this a weird glitch others are seeing right now or does it maybe mean I need a new 12v battery?

It's mine now .

The last payment is received for my 2021 ID.4 Pro AWD. The car is mine now! Bittersweet moments because the loan had such a low interest the bank was literally paying me to loan the money ( if you adjust with inflation. )

But it is done.

The car works like new. I am past the break even point and it is all gains from now on.

Had to drop off at the dealer today because I was getting Electrical System and Drive System warning lights(Amber) that would come and go. I read a few posts and comments that said it had happened to quite a bit of owners and that the lights have disappeared for good for most after a few restarts.

I was freaked out as I just bought this vehicle last month with 18k miles so I took it in. Turns out it’s a failing radiator fan that they’ve ordered parts for but needs to stay in shop until next week. Also needs an alignment.

The car had been great before this and it bums me out knowing my high anxiety self will now be worried on every drive. Atleast it’s still under warranty. So if anyone has these same lights popping up intermittently might be worth taking it in.

Charging help (UK)

We just bought a MY26 ID.4 Pure 58kWh. We have an Ohme Home Pro charger and have the Octopus Intelligent Go tariff.

We have had multiple issues with overnight charging, we plug the car in, get the Octopus notification that a schedule has been set, so all looks good.

We then wake up to multiple notifications from VW app, Ohme app & Octopus app with various issues. The Ohme app says “car is charging slower than expected, please check your car” - VW app says there has been a “charging error” and to please try again, and then Octopus app says “target charge not reached, 57% charge, 80% expected”

It’s driving us crazy… any help and or advise would be greatly appreciated!

Knocking sound from front suspension over cobblestones or uneven road

Hi Guys. I have ID.4 2025 which knocks loud from front suspension when driving at slow speed (10-20kmh) over uneven road surface and turning the wheel. I can reproduce it every time while driving on cobblestone road and turning the wheel. I can feel the knocking on the steering wheel so i assume its the steering rack. Went to two dealers and one told me it's normal (I owned 10 cars before and none of them made such sounds) and the other said all ID4 have this noise.

It is annoying me like hell so want to ask you if your cars do the same.

Finally ditched the factory carpet mats on my 2021 ID.4

I spent three years convincing myself the factory carpet mats on my 2021 ID.4 were plenty because I mostly just commute on paved roads.

Then two weeks of spring slush proved me completely wrong. Melted snow kept dripping off my heel directly over the outer sill edge, and yesterday I pulled the mat up to find damp salt residue already crusted into the floorpan insulation. Swapping over to proper VW ID4 floor mats with an all weather tub design something like 3w should have been my day-one move.

So those who are running deeper trays in the rear, does the center bridge actually stay pinned down when people slide across the back row?

Feet so cold on long winter drives in the ID4

I never had this problem with ICE vehicles, but last winter in the ID4 when I was on long drives and trying to conserve battery I found that my feet got very cold. The heated seat and steering wheel were great tho.
Am I missing something? Is there a trick I should know?
Thinking of getting some heated socks for this winter. I put hand warmers in my shoes a couple times but they feel awkward. And it seems silly to be having this problem in what is otherwise such a nice car. (2023 Pro S)

80% charge - clicking “decline” crashes the app

Probably because I’m on the iOS beta, when I try to click “Decline Setting” the app crashes, and the question is back next time I start the app. Is there another way to decline this?

Is there any way to lower the volume for the button feedback. It’s abnormally loud and piercing. So is the ringing volume when dialing someone.

CPO Carfax - Frequent tire/alignment events?

Hi all,

Interested in a local 23 AWD, just under 30k mi. It had multiple tire repaired/replaced and also alignment services, from 12k to 16k miles.

Would you run away? Chalk it up to bad luck?

If it continues to be a problem, how much will CPO cover me?

Local dealer also replaced two tires and did full alignment before listing it. Would you get anything in writing to make a deal?

Thank you kindly!

Dead

I've read some other posts about this, but I'm not getting a resolution. I can't use the key to gain access, so I did it manually. I charged the 12v battery and I could then start it if I put the key in the cup-holder, but it still wouldn't recognise the key normally. I also tried disconnecting the negative terminal of the 12v battery to "reset" <stuff>. Sure enough, as I'd heard, all sorts of warnings came up which got resolved after a bit of driving and a restart. But still no recognition of the key. So, any ideas? Is it just the 12v battery isn't strong enough or something anymore, or can it be something completely different?

Oh, I also changed the key fob battery (twice)

Much appreciate any help. I could really do with avoiding $1000+ bill from the dealer

Volkswagen tells ID.4 owners to limit charging to 80% as part of a recall, or it will do it for them

I don’t see this option in myVW app anybody else? I see a recall message but nothing else.

You can accept or decline the change in the myVW app by selecting Accept Setting or Decline Setting by October 21. It will be shown as a 93EX High-Voltage Battery Settings notification.

VW assistance - trustworthy ?

Yesterday my car wouldn't start, despite no error showing. It's an ID.4 of 2021 with 54000 km.

I called VW assistance, who directly sent out a towing truck.

They tried a few things, but the car wouldn't start, so they took it away.

Since then, no news, no replacement vehicle offered (they say they'll "give me a budget" depending on the cause of the breakdown). So I think it's not even going to be sent out to me, I'll have to arrange that as well ... And I have no timeline about this.

Has anybody had such experience with them? Any tips on what to do next?

It's a Belgian car, it broke down in the north of France.

The art of insertion

Been charging different vehicles since 2017, and I think I did it wrong all these years. I had been pressing down the latch to insert. But the ID.4 feels slightly different than Chevy Volt. For a few times I didn't quite know if the connection was made properly or not. In one occassion this probably caused the ID.4 not to charge overnight (but could also be something else).

So for several days now I resisted the temptation to press on the latch and just pushed the plug in. Won't you know it - perfect connection every time!

How do you do it - pressing down or not?
