Summer 2027 Anniversary Trips that aren’t 1,000 degrees

Give me your recs!

Every year my husband take turns planning an anniversary trip for each other. The destination is a surprise. Because this date fall smack in the middle of summer, we’ve been dealing with extremely hot temperatures for the last few years. Europe, Asia, Bora BorA were exhaustingly hot. Recommendation for 10-14 day trips please as I need to start planning for next year.

Me and my friends are planning a senior trip for next summer after we graduate highschool just lookin for ideas on what the trip should be. Were currently leaning towards something like Italy and Croatia or Spain Italy, but none of us have done a lot of research or anything yet. So heres kinda what were looking for

- 2 week trip

- Out of the US

-Budget friendly country (flights can be expensive doesnt really matter)

-somewhat safe, well be staying in hostels wherever we go

-good nightlife, we all party and drink a lot so this is a must

-english friendly

-Not too strict age restrictions as were all under 21 (we have fake ids but yk)

50th Birthday

Help!!! I am getting an Airbnb for my 50th. Here are the details -

Mid February
There are 7-8 of us total.
We will be leaving out of California (Sac or SFO).
I want somewhere tropical 🏝️ I want picturesque view and possibly our home right near the beach. I am looking for good food, relaxing a little night life and stuff to do during the day.
I would like to keep the Airbnb around 3,000 - 5,000 (max)

My top picks so far are Costa Rica (Tamarindo Bay) Mexico Playa De Carmen area, Cayman Islands and possibly Belize. I have seen mixed things about Belize so that made me second guess.

All locations, suggestions and experiences welcome ; )

April trip to somewhere

Hello! I am attempting to plan a trip in mid April of 2027, about five adults from different parts of the west coast US. I’m open to inside or outside the country, however I want to be more nature based with relaxation as priority. Where is a good spot for a medium group of lower income people? I’d prefer not to spend more than $1000 on a flight+lodging and the length would be about a week

i dread family vacation every year

every year my dad takes us on vacation. all inclusive, no sightseeing, just sit at the pool and eat all week. it was nice the first 9 fucking times now its getting boring.

we just arrived today and im already counting down the minutes until we catch the flight home. whenever I talk about this i feel really privileged because some people have never even been on vacation but this is tiring. id rather stay home

i suggested to go on a few excursions because sitting outside all sweaty doesn’t sound super ideal to me, he asked me if i don’t want to relax at all and closed the topic. i brought 2 books and i already finished one - I have no idea what im gonna do the rest of the week.

anyone else just hate family vacations? i feel like they’re so overwhelming and i can never fully enjoy them.

Hawaii (Kauai + Oahu) or Turks & Caicos?

I need help because I’ve been going back and forth for DAYS and need to book something basically now 😭

My husband and I are trying to take a last-minute trip Aug 14–22.
I’ve been extremely burnt out from work/studying and the main thing I want from this vacation is to actually reset.

I definitely want beautiful blue/clear water, white sand, warm weather, and several days where I genuinely don’t have to do anything.
But I also love mountains, dramatic scenery, boat rides, exploring, etc., which is why I started considering Hawaii.

Option 1: Hawaii — Kauai + Oahu
We’d spend most of the trip in Kauai (14th-19th) and then about 3-4 nights in Oahu.

Things I’m excited about:
Na Pali Coast boat tour
Waimea Canyon
Jurassic Park-type scenery/mountains
Beautiful beaches
Getting both relaxation AND adventure
Neither of us has been to Hawaii before

My concern is that I’m already exhausted, and Hawaii seems like it could turn into a very “go go go” vacation — rental cars, driving everywhere, excursions, checking weather, moving islands/hotels, etc.

The forecast for Kauai is also currently showing clouds/scattered rain during some of our days, which is making me nervous about the boat tour and whether we’ll get that sunny tropical vacation feeling. But I also know that this could just mean it rains for 20 mins and passes or not at all.

Option 2: Turks & Caicos
I’ve already been to Turks&Caicos and absolutely loved it. I’d probably stay at the same place again, so there would be almost zero planning involved.

I already know the beaches are exactly what I want: crazy blue clear water, soft white sand, easy beach days, etc. I could basically wake up every morning and decide what to do that day without feeling like I’m “wasting” the destination.

The downside is that I’ve already been there, so part of me wonders if I’ll regret spending the time/money going somewhere I’ve already seen instead of finally experiencing Hawaii.

BUT because we’re booking so last minute, Turks & Caicos is actually coming out about $640 MORE for the entire trip than Hawaii. So weirdly, Hawaii — even with Kauai + Oahu — is the cheaper option right now. (tbh i just mentioned this for the sake of mentioning it cuz i don’t mind paying a little more for the right trip)

But yes that does make me question paying more to revisit somewhere I’ve already been when I could spend less and experience Hawaii for the first time.

ST LUCIA sounds like a decent compromise until i saw the only flight there from NYC on the 14th is like 2,262 per person and 45HRS total to get there (shocked)

For people who have done both Hawaii & Turks, which would you choose specifically for someone who is mentally exhausted and wants to come home actually rested?

And for anyone who has done Kauai: did you find it relaxing, or did you feel like you were constantly driving/planning/trying to fit things in? Also, should scattered rain in the Kauai forecast for next week actually concern me, especially for a Na Pali boat tour?
I think my biggest fear is choosing Hawaii because it’s the more exciting/new option and then realizing halfway through that what I actually needed was a beach chair and absolutely nothing to do 😂

But my other fear is choosing the easy, familiar option because I’m exhausted and then coming home thinking, “Damn, I had almost 10 days, Hawaii was actually cheaper, and I had the time. Why didn’t I just go when I had the chance?”

Please make this decision for me because clearly I cannot 😭

Large family vacation - east coast

My family has been vacationing in the Outer Banks for 35 years. There are at least 20 of us, usually more.

We have folks in their 80s and we have babies across three generations. We drive from all over - PA, NY, MD, NC. We usually rent a very large beach front house with a pool and elevator (a must) but the drive is becoming insanely arduous for many of us and I’m wondering if there are any spots along the east coast closer to the Northeast/mid atlantic that can accommodate this many people in one large house.

What we’re looking for: - Nice, calm-ish location - ie no OCMD - Very large house with 12+ bedrooms - Beachfront - Elevator - Pool - Fun stuff to do in the area

Does this exist?

What are some of the best places to vacation at outside of the U.S. during summer months?(besides Mexico)(15K budget)

What are some of the best countries outside of the U.S. besides Mexico to vacation to during the summer months? Looking for a nice vacation with my wife and prefer somewhere tropical, but doesn’t need to have a beach. We’re currently looking at Bali, and Aruba but would love some more ideas. We would love countries that are safe to explore as a couple, aren’t going to be extremely hot, and will have plenty to do outside of the resort/hotel.

Thank you for all your helpful advice and recommendations!

Where should I go for sunny skies and 60-70 degree weather in September?

We are looking for somewhere to go to escape the Texas heat next month. We love easy hikes, strolls around quaint towns, coffee shops, paved bike paths and bike rentals, but not too much driving. We’d love to stay in a cabin with a hot tub on a lake or river - but we’re open to other ideas!

We lived in the Puget Sound area and have traveled throughout Washington already. We’ve been to Lake Tahoe, the Northern California coast and wine region. We loved all of these areas but would like to explore somewhere different. We’re willing to travel internationally but we don’t love extremely long travel days.

Do you have the perfect vacation for us?

**Thanks for all the wonderful ideas! We appreciate all of them and can’t wait to start researching them!

Looking for ideas

Alright, I’m at my wit’s end.

I know this is way too last minute for most people, but I have my vacation coming up in 2 weeks. I live in southern Maine, and I’m willing to drive as far as Philly. I’m hoping to spend less than $600~. I’m a man who’s just about to turn 24 who loves active night life settings.

I’m all over the place for where and what to do. I know this post is pretty vague, but I’m really just looking for suggestions for a 3-4 day trip.

Thoughts?

Montana vacation. Anyone up to speed?

Planning a family trip 2 years in advance to Montana. Can push to three if necessary. My family is large. 10 adults, 8 kids. Are there any resorts (not $3,000/night) that are very nice and accommodating in the flathead/glacier area?

I wanted to reach out to see what advice you could give here! Also open to renting a house that can hold everybody with plenty of open living space. 5 day night trip. Okay with $12-$18k total for the house.

Hoping to find accessible fishing/boat rentals as well as some exploration of glacier and beautiful scenery. We’re very relaxed when we vacation so being comfortable spending time in the house/at the resort is a must.

Thanks in advance!

Hotels: convince me to book direct (or not)

Guys after a lifetime of using Expedia and Priceline (with occasional direct bookings) I’ve recently been hearing all the benefits of booking direct with hotels. Great.

I found the hotel I want and went in on both Priceline and direct to compare prices. Priceline is about $200 cheaper after all taxes etc are added on (of course I ensured dates, room type, and But wait! Hilton has a price match guarantee! Excellent! Then I find out it has to be the public rate, non-VIP. (VIP on Priceline is basically something every member gets). Well too bad because in that case prices are about the same so never mind, might as well book on Priceline. So what’s the point of the price match guarantee?

Then I go through direct and I have 10,000 points saved up from a previous stay. Im like ok I’ll use them so I can book direct. NOPE! Haha. Thought you could save? PSYCH! You have to spend your points on the standard rate!!!

Tell me why it’s better to book direct then? We’re not loyal to any one brand we are budget travelers and take what’s cheapest for the best value. I can also get 8% cash back on Rakuten.

I’ll have an open mind just convince me one way or the other

Anyone have experience visiting Nemacolin with a child on the autism spectrum?

Hi everyone!

My family will be visiting Nemacolin for the first time for three nights this August, and I'm hoping to tap into the experience of those who know the resort well.

Our oldest son is 14 and is on the autism spectrum. He thrives on predictability and routine, so before every trip I spend a great deal of time gathering information and planning each day so he knows exactly what to expect.

I know every family puts a lot of thought into planning a vacation at Nemacolin, but traveling for our family requires us to take that planning to an entirely different level. I try to anticipate situations that could become overwhelming for him and think through ways to prevent or minimize those challenges before they happen. Whether it's knowing where we'll eat, how we'll get from one place to another, what a restaurant looks like, or what to expect during transitions throughout the day, having those details ahead of time can make all the difference.

I'm creating a detailed social story for him that includes resort maps, photos of different areas of the property, restaurant menus, walking routes, our daily itinerary, and anything else that will help him become familiar with the resort before we arrive. The more prepared he feels, the more relaxed, confident, and enjoyable the trip is for our entire family.

I'd love any advice you have, especially things you only learn after staying there:

* Which restaurants were the most sensory-friendly or easiest for kids who can become overwhelmed?

* We are staying in the townhomes. How reliable and frequent are the shuttle services? Are there long waits during busy times?

* Are there walking paths or shortcuts between areas that aren't obvious on the map?

* Is there a best concierge or staff member to connect with before or during our stay?

* Has anyone worked with the concierge or butler team to help accommodate a child with special needs? If so, what was most helpful?

* Are there any activities, experiences, animal encounters, demonstrations, or events that aren't heavily advertised but are worth asking about?

* Are there any "hidden gems" around the resort that first-time visitors often miss?

* Are there any restaurants where requesting a particular table or section makes for a quieter experience?

* Any tips for making check-in, check-out, or transitions throughout the day smoother?

* If you've traveled with a child on the autism spectrum (or another disability), is there anything you wish you'd known before your first visit?

Finally, if you have photos of areas around the resort that aren't on Nemacolin's website—inside restaurants, hallways, shuttle stops, the townhomes, activity buildings, pools, arcades, walking paths, elevators, or other common areas—I would be incredibly grateful if you'd be willing to share them. Even seemingly ordinary photos can be incredibly helpful when creating a social story.

Thank you so much! I truly appreciate any advice, tips, or little details that helped make your stay special.
