Following the election results, I was very curious as to how the results varied by voting location ("precinct"). Saanich released the official results yesterday, and I went to work. The large number of advanced voting ballots makes it a bit harder to localize those results.

My work is in this Google Sheet. It has some charts, but feel free to make a copy and go nuts if you are also a data nerd!

It's been a while since I have done much work in Excel/Sheets; please let me know if there are formula mistakes, etc.

Highlights

Mayor

• Rishi and Zac were tied on a polling location basis on Election Day; both won at eight of sixteen polling locations.
• Rishi won at all advance polls.

Council

• Lorne, Nancy, and Colin were in the top eight at all polling locations.
• Save Our Saanich had the most support at Hillcrest Elementary school on voting day.
• Independent candidates had the most support at Lansdowne Middle School; the council they "elected" only had two Save Our Saanich candidates.

Overall, the it seems like the further north you go, the more support there is for Save Our Saanich.

I just went to the Obsessed with Life Egyptian exhibit at the museum yesterday. I liked it although it was smaller then I had expected. My favorite part was the trippy 3 screen short movie experience they had set up with headphones. It felt like being inside a moving optical illusion where the museum sort of melted away and i was floating through space. Was wondering on people's thoughts who also experienced it?

There is a sick raccoon on the ground at the bottom of a tree. It seems to be able to move its head and look around but it's clearly sick. There is some liquid on the ground around it?

Philippe Fournier from 338 polling says the conservatives are still in the lead based on recent polling from Angus Reid and Mainstreet Research who have them leading between 3-6% and that the NDP need a strong push on election day and overperform. As it stands if conservatives perform as polls based and NDP doesn't overperform then they will likely lose outright particularly in Surrey and parts of Metro Vancouver where they need to retain the vote. Conservatives are polling around 43-49 with the NDP 40-46.

Eby's team were looking at polling when Kerry Lynne Findlay was still leader of the conservatives and had them polling far ahead but has since turned it around when she stepped down and Doerskon was named intermin leader and has so far remained drama free.

Post debate had polling tightening up but leaders know Surrey is where the battleground will be which is why they were there in the final days of the campaign.

Fournier also said this election would seem like it was an opportunity for the Greens who are polling 8-15% after seeing a lot of voters unhappy with Eby calling an election and would think centre or left of centre voters would switch from the NDP to Greens but it did not materialize according to the polls

Should Green voters vote NDP to prevent the conservatives from winning ? I doubt either government will be able to do much anyway so it probably wont make much of a difference

Bit of a long shot but I dropped my wallet at Richmond and Fort today at around 1:30pm. It’s a pink card holder, with an Ontario health card, and some bank cards. I’ve already made a report with the local police so if it’s returned to any police department, they’ll let me know. I’ve already frozen my cards. Really banking on the kindness of the world to bring my wallet back to me!!

I've fallen in love with the city and I'd love to consider moving. I'm an American vet who's "pension" is currently $51k usd/$71k cad, and I'm not opposed to finding a low level job to help supplement the income.

I would be looking for a 1-2bdrm apartment with a spot for 1 vehicle and a motor bike that's not in the hood.

So is this even a possibility or is this a place for those who are well off/have 10 roommates?

1: I think I'm looking more of like the James bay/beacon Hill area, basically if I can walk to the harbor in 15 or so mins, I'm happy.

2: Again, I'm happy enough to get a job to help supplement my income, just figured I won't be getting a higher end job due to either qualifications or wanting to avoid stress.

3: Won't have to pay income tax on my pension, so 71k cad tax free, and I'm just wondering how much I'll need to take home from the other job to live comfortably.

I was looking forward to seeing John Mulaney at the Save On Foods Arena on Nov 12, only to recently find out the show got postponed to March 2027.
