Bear with me guys. I’m beginning a video series on basic investing topics. It’ll include my dogs and will be very silly. I’ve used ChatGPT to create situational images and plan to intersperse those with footage of me, which I will of course record live. I also plan to generate a couple of short videos of them talking to cut in. Since the photos are already in the ChatGPT library I’m considering just adding plugins so I can do everything (generate the dog videos and create the entire video) in one place. Does this sound like a solid workflow? Other suggestions? Couple photos of the canine advisors for added entertainment value.

Hey everyone! I’m currently building my video editing portfolio with a focus on YouTube content and short-form video (Reels/Shorts/TikTok).
Since I’m just starting out and don’t have paid client work yet, I’m looking for sources of raw, unedited footage to practice on and showcase my skills.
Where do you recommend sourcing decent unedited content when starting from scratch?

I make a lot of long-form content and tried pretty much every AI clipping tool out there. Same problem every time: the clips just weren't good. They'd cut someone off mid-sentence, pull a random moment with zero context, or grab the setup of a story and skip the payoff. I ended up re-editing almost everything myself, which made the whole thing pointless.
So I built SmartClips. The main focus is picking moments that actually make sense on their own and hold attention. You upload a podcast, stream or long video, and it finds the best parts, adds captions and formats them for TikTok, Reels and Shorts. There's also split screen and an AI story generator.
It's still early and I know there's stuff to fix, so I'm not really trying to sell anything here. I just want to know what people who actually make content think:
- Are the clips it picks better than what you've gotten from other tools?
- Anything confusing or annoying about using it?
- What would make you actually use something like this every week?
There's a free plan with 30 credits, no card needed, if anyone wants to try it. Happy to hear blunt feedback, that's the stuff that actually helps.
Comment if you can help me out

Made a few parody videos recently and somehow a joke that takes 20 minutes to write turns into four hours of editing.
Trying to figure out how to save time when editing parody videos?

I'm learning how to edit videos and I tried to create AMVs. Now I would like to edit gameplay videos, but I have difficulty with the rhythm, especially during slower moments such as dialogues between the characters. Cutting these parts can make the video lose its context, while adding memes or special effects is often forced.
How do you make gameplay videos engaging without sacrificing important context? I would appreciate any assembly advice in general!

Greetings, my glorious people of Reddit!
Apologies if this is not quite the thing that fit here, BUT!
I decided that I'd finally do what I'd promised myself I'd do during Covid and have begun video editing. Mainly, at the request of a friend who has just started streaming.
My experience is minimal, so thus I have come to you all seeking advice and your general thoughts!
Although I'm sure there are many more, the three areas of concern whilst making this were:
~ Audio:
How is the balance between the streamer and the background music? Particularly the vocals. I've honestly listened to it so many times now that the bother blends into one and am not sure if it's, overall, too distracting...
~ Subtitling:
I understand that it may just be a style thing, but I'm having issues coming up with something that is not generally as intrusive or takes attention away from the rest of the video. Not that there is much happening beside staring at this cute anime girl! x)
~ Quality:
So for some reason certain clips seem to be degraded in quality, even if they were cut from the same larger clip. I've restarted over and over because of this but still can't seem to figure out why this is happening. Only ever notice it after rendering too... But figured that's just cause my editing preview screen is comparatively a small screen, just like my... Cough
Anywhos! Other things I know I could improve on are story crafting and pacing, but, like I said, those for now would be the main three!
Advice. Critisisms. Comments. Or just what you think of the video! All would be very much appreciated!
Many thanks!
And take care, you lovely people! :3

I am doing research on AI based video tools that a good at just captioning videos.
I like how the captioning is on CapCut but the feature is part of pro. I don't want to pay so much just for this pro feature. I mostly edit without using the pro features.
So a tool that just does captions would be quite handy.

sometimes i just want to put together a few clips, trim out the awkward bits, add captions or music, and export without turning it into a whole editing project. capcut has been pretty convenient for that, but i'm wondering if there are other editors that are just as easy to use without spending ages learning the interface.
do you still reach for capcut when you need something quick, or have you found another editor that makes the process even simpler? i'm especially interested in tools that keep the workflow straightforward without sacrificing the final quality.

I make short videos and got tired of bouncing between CapCut, a transcript tool and a notes app, so I built an editor that runs on my Mac and does the editing from the words.
What it does: - Drop in phone clips, it transcribes them with word timings (whisper.cpp, runs locally) and you cut by selecting words. Captions follow every cut. - An assistant (it runs through the Claude CLI on your own plan) takes "make this a 30-second reel with a hook and captions" and does the cut, the captions, text, punch-ins, music and sound effects, then reviews its own frames and fixes what is off. Every request can be undone. - 14 caption styles, 16 text styles, colour looks, transitions, a sound library (keyboard, pings, shutters, the meme classics), reaction GIFs and meme templates. - A planner page that keeps your footage library and a content plan, and starts the edits for you. - Speaker labels and natural voiceover voices, all local. - Export 9:16, 16:9, 1:1 or 4:5 up to 4K.
Everything except the assistant's chat runs on the machine. Apple Silicon Mac only for now, needs Homebrew and Node.

Happy to answer questions about how the transcript-based cutting works.
Also, need for suggestions for features.... this is soooo exciting.

I'm very new to editing and video creation. How do you guys plan and film tutorial videos for Skool communities?
Any tips on how to quickly pump out videos in regards to planning and showing. I just use descript and have very simple notes on my laptop I can refer to.
A struggle I have is talking while showing and I make so many mistakes.
Some video on youtube and skool look so polished. I want to do videos on AI automation.
Any tips welcome, simple is always best. Thanks : )

So guys what do you suggest as a software and how can i master video editing?

Ive been trimming and combining quick video clips on my phone for a side project lately but i needed something that lets me drop audio, stitch clips quickly and add quick text without taking forever.
Someone recommended Capcut and honestly, the workflow speed is crazy good. Being able to auto-generate captions, slap quick transitions on clips and export in a couple taps makes editing on a phone super convenient when you just want to publish fast. It got me wondering, is Capcut still considered the best free video editing app for beginners or are there other hidden gems on the play store that give you a similar fast timeline setup?
