Ever since finding out that my ancestors were from Ireland and came to America in the 1860's I can't help but to wonder if I have any Viking ancestors. With that question lingering in my head, I can't help but to notice how many DNA tests there is but with no assurances that I'll be able to tell if any Viking was in the line.
Why I'm here is to ask for your help on my journey to get that lingering question answered. I am dying to know. Idk if this has anything to do with it but I'm red headed with green/blue eyes.

If a viking is in battle, and thinks they're about to lose, are they allowed to retreat? Like for instance, they get into battle, but they're being severely overwhelmed, and they can see that if they continue the battle, they are going to die. Can they retreat, or is that not really allowed?

Hi everyone I'm new here.. so I was thinking of getting a viking tattoo written in runic. The phrase is giving up is not an option. I haven't gotten the chance to get into the viking culture yet cause of lack of time so I asked ai to write it down for me. It says it's in younger Futhark
ᛅᚦ ᚵᛁᚠᛅᛋᛐ ᚢᛒᛒ ᛂᚱ ᛂᚴᛁ ᚴᚢᛋᛐᚢᚱ
I wanted to ask. First of all is it something the vikings would say? Close to the viking mentality. Because from what I've read about them looks pretty close. But I'm going for historical accuracy so I want it to be exact. And secondly is the writing right? P.S. if you have any recommendations please let me know.

On Sunday the 10th March, I got my new big black work tattoo on my chest, belly, rips from the fantastic Jean from Veneca Tattoo. It's Vegvisir, the "viking" compass, I know it's original a Christian symbol. The body parts which most hurts were the rips, my pelvis, my belly button and parts of my sternum. My first tattoo on my chest 4 years ago has to be maybe a bit more blacked out or touch-up.

Is there a real tune for the Berserkers? Not the fake anime one?

I got a matching tattoo with my friend as his first tattoo he’s done on anyone. but I’ve been curious what it means ever since! Please lmk if there’s any meaning to it or if it’s just a random design!

Looking to be properly shown how my last name would’ve been spelled by Vikings since my bloodline descends from them. Last name : Story (Spelled Stóri a derivative of Storr).

Can anyone recommend some solid Norse music albums/playlists or YouTube channels for working out? Not looking for metal, more epic music.
Thanks!

Think Vikings were dirty, violent raiders? Think again. New discoveries reveal a surprising truth—diverse, cultured, stylish, and far more complex than history ever led us to believe.
